Okazaki Twelve Shrines Tour: Rokusho Shrine

#Travelingwithme I visited Rokusho Shrine on my tour of the twelve shrines in Okazaki. Rokusho Shrine is about a 10-minute walk from Meitetsu Higashi-Okazaki Station. Passing through the torii gate and walking along the approach, you will find the sacred horse, and on the left you will see the tower gate, a nationally designated important cultural property, at the top of the stone steps. Passing through the tower gate, you will see the worship hall, a nationally designated important cultural property, in front of you. Rokusho Shrine is deeply revered by the Matsudaira and Tokugawa families as the guardian deity of the Matsudaira clan, and is still worshiped as the god of safe childbirth. There is a bronze statue of a mother and puppy in the precincts. In addition, on the left side of the worship hall, there is a handprint (right hand) of Ieyasu, owned by the Tokugawa Memorial Foundation, carved into granite from Okazaki.
