Wat Nantaram, see the golden teak temple with Burmese architecture

#VisitSecondaryCity 🙏It is not known when Wat Nantaram was built. It was originally called Jong Man or Jong Kha because it was thatched with cogon grass (Jong means temple). 🛕Villagers donated land and construction until it was completed. It has the status of a monastery directly under the Burmese Sangha. People generally call it Wat Man or Jong Nuea. 🏰Jong Man or Jong Nuea was in a state of disrepair due to lack of caretakers until 1924 when Father Ta Ka Jong Nanta (Wu) Wong-anan, a Pa-O (Tong Su) tycoon who received a concession to make timber for a foreign timber company, was a strong believer in preserving Buddhism. He invited people with faith to join in renovating and improving the building. 🏰Later, someone donated land to build a new temple. Father Ta Ka Jong Nanta (Wu) was the host of the construction of the current temple by hiring Burmese craftsmen from Lampang Province to design and construct it. 🏰This temple is made entirely of golden teakwood in the style of lower Burmese architecture. The gable roof is beautifully layered and tiered, covered with wooden shingles. The ceiling is decorated with intricately patterned stained glass in Mandalay art. 🙏 To commemorate his good deeds and as a memorial to him, the temple's name was changed to "Wat Nantharam". Interesting things in the temple include: 🏰 The ordination hall is a combination of Lanna art, built in 1972, enshrining Luang Pho Yim, a Buddha statue in the Mara-Vijaya posture, made of brick and mortar, lacquered and gilded. 🙏 Phra Phuttha Metta is a Buddha statue carved from golden teak in the Mara-Vijaya posture, dressed in Mandalay style. 🙏 Phra Chao Saen Sae is a Buddha statue in the Mara-Vijaya posture, Chiang Saen art, approximately 1,000 years old. 🛕 Twenty-fifth-century pagoda, a brick and mortar pagoda. Octagonal shape, built in 1957 🏚 U-Teng Mong Hall (Museum) Antique collection room 🏚 Prasat S. Urai, enshrining the Goddess of Mercy and ancient paintings about the Mahachat sermon ðŸ’Ĩ Wat Nantharam: Tambon Yuan, Amphoe Chiang Kham, Phayao Province 🌐Coordinates: https://maps.app.goo.gl/av9sa8ZR7fJenDxJA 🕗Opening - closing hours: 08.00 - 18.00 #Phayao #VisitPhayao #PhayaoAttractions
