6 days Kilimanjaro Climbing Machame route

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro via the Machame Route in 7 days is a challenging but popular option for those looking to reach the summit. The Machame Route is often called the "Whiskey Route" due to its difficulty and is known for its scenic beauty. Day 1: Machame Gate (1,640 meters) to Machame Camp (2,835 meters) Drive from Moshi to the Machame Gate (approximately 1–1.5 hours). Register with the park authorities, meet your support team (guides, porters, and cooks), and start your trek. Hike through the lush rainforest. Trekking time is about 5-7 hours. Dinner and overnight at Machame Camp Day 2: Machame Camp to Shira Camp (3,750 meters) Ascend through the heather and moorland zones. Cross the Shira Plateau, offering stunning views of Kilimanjaro's volcanic cones. The trekking duration is around 4-6 hours. Dinner and overnight at Shira Camp Day 3: Shira Camp to Barranco Camp (3,950 meters) via Lava Tower (4,600 meters) Hike to Lava Tower for acclimatization and beautiful panoramic views. Descend to Barranco Camp, where you'll spend the night. Trekking time is approximately 5-7 hours. Dinner and overnight at Barranco Camp Day 4: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp (3,995 meters) Climb the Barranco Wall, a steep and challenging section. Trek through the alpine desert to Karanga Camp. The trekking duration is around 3–5 hours. Dinner and overnight at Karanga Camp Day 5: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp (4,600 meters) Ascend to Barafu Camp, the high camp, for your summit attempt. Trekking time is approximately 3-5 hours. Rest, hydrate, and have an early dinner. Prepare for the summit push. Day 6: Summit Day (Uhuru Peak, 5,895 meters) and descent to Mweka Camp (3,100 meters) Begin the summit ascent around midnight. The climb is steep and demanding, typically taking 6–8 hours. Reach Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa, to watch the sunrise. Descend to Barafu Camp for a short rest. Continue your descent to Mweka Camp (the total trekking time can be 11–16 hours). Dinner and overnight at Mweka Camp Day 7: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate (1,640 meters) Descend through the rainforest to Mweka Gate. Complete the necessary paperwork with the park authorities. Receive your summit certificates. Drive back to Moshi/Arusha for a celebratory meal and a well-deserved rest.
