Ancient Pottery Kiln Site in Sam Khok District, Pathum Thani

The Ancient Pottery Kiln Site is located in front of Wat Sing. This area has revealed remnants of ancient kilns, known as the Ancient Pottery Kiln Site, which serve as evidence of the Mon community that migrated from Mottama during the late Ayutthaya period under King Narai's reign. These kilns produced large pottery items such as jars, pots, and basins, characterized by their robust, thick, unglazed red surfaces. The Sam Khok kilns played a significant role after the fall of Ayutthaya in 1767, continuing through the Thonburi and early Rattanakosin periods until the reign of King Rama V. Eventually, the Mon people of Sam Khok ceased production, with most relocating their pottery-making activities to Koh Kret in Nonthaburi. Today, only the Sam Khok jar factory owned by Mr. Kamnuan remains in operation in Sam Khok. The Ancient Pottery Kiln Site is situated in Moo 2, Sam Khok Subdistrict, Sam Khok District, Pathum Thani Province, 12160. It is recognized as a historical learning center, showcasing the traditional pottery-making techniques of the Mon people in Sam Khok. The site is managed by the Sam Khok Subdistrict Administrative Organization.
