Visit the beautiful Umbrella Making Center - Chiang Mai

One of the most well known handicrafts from Chiang Mai is the art of making umbrellas. The Umbrella Making Center in Bo San Village is 10km from city center, and only takes 30 minutes to get there by car or the red truck. The center offers umbrella making classes, as well as guided tours to visitors to explain the skills of making umbrella. You can also stroll around at your own pace and watch the artisans at work in the courtyard. The procedure starts with peeling the outer layer of a bamboo section , to cutting them into thin strips to make the frame. Then came the next step of gluing the fabric onto the frame, and followed by the final step of painting beautiful artwork onto the umbrellas.
