Guys! You absolutely have to stay at this incredibly cost-effective hotel in Shanghai! It's one of Shanghai's first five-star hotels, with a classic, old-money vibe – it's The Portman Ritz-Carlton, Shanghai! This hotel has been around for ages, and the moment you step inside, you're enveloped in a rich, reddish-brown, wooden décor, super old-school. But don't let its age fool you, they've kept it in amazing condition. I booked a basic room, and the space was huge! Besides a small cabinet, there was also a movable desk, which I relocated to the sofa in front of the bed. It was pure bliss watching TV and enjoying takeout there! I've stayed in quite a few hotels, and the sofa and table arrangements are often bizarre! But not at The Portman Ritz-Carlton. Their layout is incredibly sensible. Let's talk about the bed and pillows. Of all the hotels I've stayed in, theirs are the most comfortable. Many other hotels use down or feather filling, but The Portman's bed feels incredibly supportive. I have cervical spondylosis, and sleeping on this bed was a dream! And the bathroom and bathtub? I absolutely adore them! They exude a vintage charm. The bathtub is enormous, with a backrest for support – such a thoughtful design. Can you believe this was designed over two decades ago? The designers back then were so forward-thinking; many modern hotels can't compare!
