Shanghai Food Recommendations: Must-Try Culinary Experiences!

Save this for your next trip to Shanghai! 🇨🇳 Here are some of my favorite Shanghai eats that I really enjoyed and still dream about. Highly recommend trying them. 1️⃣ Jia Jia Tang Bao (佳家汤包) Their xiao long bao was decent, but the Dry Crab Noodles 🦀 were truly amazing! I’ve never had anything quite like it. It was so good that we went back for it again! 👍🏼 2️⃣ Gubi Gubi From the facade to the interior, service, and food, everything was simply perfect! All the dishes we tried were delicious. The rice cake is a must-try! It's uniquely good—like a creamy pasta but with small, round, chewy rice cakes. The milk cabbage was such a simple dish but really stood out—vegetables never tasted this good before. The broth was chef’s kiss 😘👌🏼 3️⃣ RAC Coffee & Bar Job dedication level: trying Shanghai’s best crêperie! Racbar did not disappoint—the sardine galette was amazing. Brittany cider on the side completed the experience. 4️⃣ Nong Xiao De Pai Ku Nian Gao (侬晓得排骨年糕) Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from this unassuming, old-school eatery, but since it's one of Shanghai’s must-try dishes, I decided to stop by when I was around the Xin Tian Di area. The pork chop was incredibly tender and paired surprisingly well with the chewy rice cake. I really liked it! 5️⃣ Ah Ma Handmade (阿嬷手作) Tried the signature classic handmade mochi milk tea 🧋 and boy, did I enjoy it! It was freezing cold, so I opted for the hot version. Took a sip and wished I’d braved the cold and gotten the iced one. I did go back the next day to snag the cold one, but the queue was crazy! Guess that just means I have to come back.
