There's a forgotten thousand-year-old street at Chengdu's South Gate called "Taiping." Taiping Old Street in Tianfu New District, also known as Yaoziba, is nicknamed the East Mountain Dry Dock. It's said that Taiping Town's history dates back to the Spring and Autumn Period. During the Han and Tang dynasties, the ancient Bashu post road transported pottery made here in all directions, hence the name "Yaoziba." Before the Northern Song Dynasty's Zhiping era, it was called Hengshan Town; during the Northern Song Dynasty's Yuanfeng period, it was called Yangyao Town; and from the late Ming Dynasty, it became known as Taiping Town. It gets especially lively during market days. Some buildings on the street are well-preserved, and there's a large yellow horn tree that makes for great photos; 4. The local food is worth trying - Lei Douhua's braised goose is famous and popular, and East Mountain tofu skin is a delicious dish that goes well with rice; 5. The nourishing soup is a unique specialty available on the old street; 6. The farmers' market on Taiping Street has many snacks - oil cakes and sugar-oil fritters always have lines; there's also a wide variety of fruits at affordable prices; 7.
