Yehenara Ancient City

The Yehenara City is located in Yehe Town, and it is the birthplace of Empress Dowager Xiaozhuang (Monggu Gegge), the ancestral home of Empress Dowager Cixi and Empress Dowager Longyu, known as 'the hometown of empresses'. The original site of the ancient city was destroyed during Nurhaci's last attack on the Yehe Kingdom in 1619, and it cannot be rebuilt. The real ruins are ten kilometers away from here and have been cultivated, with only mounds left enclosed in the area. Yehenara City was built with arrow towers, banner soldier barracks, Beile mansions, temples for worshiping gods, council halls, princess towers, shaman gardens, and city god temples, etc. It is simple and elegant, reproducing the Manchu architectural style and the original appearance of the ancient city. During different historical periods of the Qing Dynasty, several empresses from the Yehe tribe left offspring for the royal family, and the Yehe consorts added a rich and colorful stroke to the history of the Yehe tribe.
