A Bit Disappointed with Qiao Garden!

I stayed at the Taizhou Municipal Government Guesthouse, also known as Qiao Garden, on a business trip to Taizhou in the 1980s. I vaguely remember a rockery and pavilion on one side of the guesthouse. Now, revisiting this place brings back memories. Entering the garden from the west gate on Beilu Road, Hailin District, I walked around it and climbed the Laiqing Pavilion to enjoy the full view. The garden is divided into two parts: the east part centers around the Shanxiang Caotang (Mountain Sound Cottage), and the west part connects the courtyard and residential area. The garden is compact, with mountains, rocks, pavilions, towers, and halls scattered throughout, creating a winding and secluded atmosphere. Every step reveals a new scene. The entire garden is not large, but its small and exquisite layout is unique. Qiao Garden, also known as Rishe Garden, is a national cultural relic protection site and possibly the most well-preserved private garden in Taizhou. It is known as the "First Garden of Huaizu." In 2006, Qiao Garden underwent restoration and reconstruction. The staff said the guesthouse buildings had been demolished. Seeing Qiao Garden again, but not as it was, I feel a sense of loss!
