Wat Phiphat Mongkhon, an ancient art form of Sukhothai

Wat Phiphat Mongkhon is located in Thung Saliam District, Sukhothai Province. It is one of the important temples in the province. Originally, this temple was an abandoned temple in the middle of a rice field. It is assumed that it was a temple about 700 years ago. There is no historical evidence, but only the foundations of the ordination hall and the ancient pagoda were found, which were submerged about 1.50 meters underground. Wat Phiphat Mongkhon is well known throughout the country and even abroad. It is considered one of the most famous religious sites in Thailand. It is also a place for studying Buddhism and a place for natural tourism. Important things about the temple that are considered unique and exquisite in the ancient art of Lanna Thai, such as the glass house church, the Lanna temple, and the golden Buddha statue in the Sukhothai period art that was enshrined and built to be famous along with the temple. Wat Phiphat Mongkhon is an important and sacred place. Currently, it is the place where the golden Buddha statue (Sukho Bodhi Thong Buddha statue) is enshrined, which is made of pure gold, is 500 years old, and weighs 9 kilograms. It contains the relics of the Lord Buddha and the Phra That Rak Khwan. Which was invited from Sri Lanka by His Holiness the Supreme Patriarch of Lanka in Kandy.
