Castle tour of Chita Peninsula: Ono Castle, Tokoname City

Ono Castle, where the Saji clan ruled, stands in Shiroyama Park in Tokoname City. Ono Castle is at the top of a mountain, so it takes about 10 minutes to climb the stairs to reach the castle ruins, but there are several squares along the way and benches where you can rest, so you can take your time as you climb. The stairs in the mountains come up to a bamboo forest, which is just as beautiful as the bamboo forests in Kyoto. When you reach Ono Castle at the top, there is an observation deck from which you can see Ise Bay in its entirety, which is a spectacular sight. You can go up to the castle tower and walk around it, so you can see a 360-degree view of the other side of Ise Bay. The castle also has a museum about the Saji clan who ruled the castle, so enjoy learning about history.
