Dai Mansion in Shen’ao Village, Tonglu, Zhejiang

Built during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression by local businessman Shen Tu Dazhang for Dai Li and his mistress (whose last name was Wang) from Shanghai. (It was completed before Ms. Wang arrived.) After liberation, it served as the office of the township government and people's commune. The commune moved out in 1985. The two-story, hip-and-gable-roofed building, with brick walls, blends Chinese and Western styles. Facing south, it covers 183 square meters. It has five bays and an "inverted U" shaped floor plan. The facade is 18.4 meters wide, with corridors in the bright and secondary bays, supported by square columns and square stone bases. The exterior doors and windows are covered with galvanized iron sheets. The windows have a three-layer structure. The building is surrounded by walls on the east, west, and south sides, with a courtyard of nearly 200 square meters. There is a square well in front of the building. It is a historical building in Tonglu County.
