I had never stayed at this hotel before. I saw the reviews and know that a lot of them are just disgruntled, so I went in with an open mind. Cons: The musty smell is legit. The pool is indoors out in the open in the lobby, so I'm sure that's contributing to it. They did have a dehumidifier on our floor, but it couldn't keep up. Our room was musty smelling even with blowing the fan constantly. It was also incredibly humid, so we tried to freeze ourselves out to combat it. The hotel pool was closed for maintenance the entire weekend, which was a bummer. They do have a hot tub, but we decided to pass on it. Also the hotel TV had netflix but no other streaming services, which seems easy enough to add. So bring your own roku or chromecast. This last one I get wasn't solely the hotel's fault, but the first floor reeked of pot. Pros: Water pressure and temp in the shower was fine. Towels were not soft but dried well. Bed was nice and firm. The room itself was clean. Hotel staff was friendly. Overall, it will not be a hotel I pick again, but I've stayed in worse.

Several times I stay on weekend at Motel 6, overland park for my professional need. I like the room with simple set up, nice and clean containing the facilities to meet my demands for a night with a very cheap price. I will continue to stay there..

The motel has free parking. My check in went quickly. There is a swimming pool. The rooms have outside entries. Free wi-fi is provided. My room had everything I needed. I got a good night's sleep and my requested wake up call. The check out was quick and simple.

I was a guest at Days Inn Hays on Sunday, June 16, 2024. I was assigned to room 134, and for the most part the stay was great. However, when I woke up on the morning of Monday, June 17 I discovered that the bathroom trash was almost overflowing. The trash can is located outside of the bathroom in a separate vanity area, and it was tucked under the vanity. So, unless you pulled it out from under the counter you couldn’t have seen it was full. I threw a q-tip away, and when it didn’t fall into the trashcan I pulled the can out. There was a container of leftover food, plates, napkins, and various other items underneath. I had stepped on a cigar wrapper the night before, but I just picked it up and figured the vacuum missed it. When I saw the trash can I knew that my room hadn’t been cleaned before we stayed in it. When I came to the front desk to speak with the manager about this he simply told me that housekeeping was overwhelmed, and he apologized. He also told me that the system was down, and I could call later that day to process a refund. I have called the hotel 4 times looking to speak to the manager and each time I have been told he is unavailable. I have left messages with staff members, but I never heard back. I sent an email to the front desk, and to the manager, but that has also been ignored. I am disgusted that this hotel not only let me and my child sleep in a room that wasn’t cleaned, but I am shocked at the lack of response, and the unwillingness to remedy the situation.

I had the best experience I would have to say ever staying at a hotel/motel all of the staff were pretty great but one I would like most to recognize is Janis, she has went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and worry free! So grateful for people like her thank you Janis for everything and The Howard Johnson for being so awesome!!!

It was a good hotel. We got there late and got checked right in. They don’t have a deposit either. The rooms were big and I have no complaints.

Very enjoyable stay. All staff members were friendly. Though the lobby isn't large, it is very inviting. They always have fresh fruit, ice water, coffee, hot tea, and hot chocolate available. They put out fresh cookies during late afternoon. They have a nice section for buying food. LOTS of parking. It was close to many places we had on our itinery. The beds weren't as comfortable as I would like. Breakfast was average. We would stay again.

One of the nicest group of staff members we have ever dealt with in all our years of travel! Originally only booked four nights but needed to extend our stay and the staff could not have been more accommodating!! Wonderful large clean room on top floor which was spacious and quiet! Breakfast was amazing each morning thanks to Dana and another young man whose name we did not catch-Brent and Ali at the front desk were awesome and the other staff members that we encountered, from housekeeping to maintenance were all friendly and welcoming!! Many good food options in the area! Already booked another stay!!

This is a nice little hotel in the vicinity of the Overland Park Convention Center which also has its little imperfections… Positives/ pros: As one previous Courtyard review said, in all different ways, this hotel has great design and color balance throughout the Lobby and further. I also liked it in the suite that I shared with my guests. It had a large and impressive parlor room, with a large wet bar countertop and cabinets below. I liked how you walked straight into the bathroom sink and then shower and toilet room from the parlor unlike the design arrangement of the Overland Park Sheraton. The bedroom area was situated nicely to the right of the doorway and behind the closet. What I did like better about the OP Sheraton in comparison was the separate wall divided entry foyer. All plumbing and electrical fixtures worked well, the furniture was intact and comfortable except some of the wood furniture with some wear on it. The Lobby and Pool area were very clean as both the. Pool and hot tub operated very well holding decent temperature. The Bistro breakfast food I ate was also good. Last, but not least, the staff was accommodating, welcoming, helpful, informative, and communicative. The absolute negatives/ cons: The carpet in both elevators was absolutely dirty across each surface. Just a black and smeared stain across both surfaces. It didn’t look like they had been cleaned for a long time at all. They both should be replaced and then the new pieces should be cleaned regularly. If you are a guest who is thinking about booking a suite at the hotel and you are going to be designated to sleeping on the pull out sofa bed, you need to be a heavy sleeper because there is a lot of audible noise and some light leaking into the cracks around the door and it’s peep hole. The ac unit and the mini fridge were so loud that I I had to shut the ac off, unplug the mini fridge, and put to sofa pillows against the door to block the light. It was a little to late to the point that I did not end up getting enough sleep. Remember, that room works best for heavy sleepers, not light ones like me. The very last issue was the small pieces of white paper like debris spread throughout the guest room hallway. The last reason I gave this hotel 4 stars is because of a balanced contradiction in opinions and issues: When I first arrived at the hotel about 30 minutes before the standard check in time, I was notified that my room wasn’t ready and I had to wait for it to be ready. When my friends/ guests arrived a couple of minutes later, I informed them about what was going on. A little later, we were informed that there was a shortage of housekeeping crew on dirty as was the case for other hotels, of course. It wasn’t something that I was too excited about, but I got through it and being patient by exploring the lobby, talking to my friend’s family, eating and drinking snacks from the Market, and briefly looking at my phone. Staff are friendly. No cleanliness issues. Smells clean, but not offensively so. Fitness room was standard but nice and clean. Breakfast was fine as well. Had hot food and not just cereal and toast. Shower had good water pressure. Indoor pool looked nice, but never visited it. It is an older building but maintained from what I could tell. The tile in the bathroom was cold but clean. My only complaint is that adjusting the thermostat didn't seem to make a difference as the room was very cold. I just shut it off so it wouldn't blow cold air into the room as I was barely in the room except sleeping and getting ready for a workshop. I plan to stay here in the future if I'm ever in the area.

We met at the Marriott for an 80th birthday celebration and family reunion. The rooms and suites were in pristine condition. The front desk staff was amazing and accommodating - Kaitie, Carly, Roman and Neema did an outstanding job. The breakfast and restaurant were very nice and we really appreciate our server Shannon each morning at breakfast.

During my recent stay at the Hyatt, I had an unfortunate experience where I felt unfairly judged based on my appearance. As a military service member on leave, I was traveling from Colorado Springs and chose Hyatt due to its strong reputation for supporting military personnel. After a long drive, I was eager for a comfortable stay and expected the level of respect and service that the brand is known for. However, upon arrival, I was met with unprofessional treatment. When I inquired about a military discount, I was questioned in a manner that made me feel as if my active-duty status was in doubt. Furthermore, I was treated dismissively, as if my appearance somehow indicated that I couldn’t afford a suite. Only after agreeing to the price was I treated with the level of courtesy I should have received from the start. Customer satisfaction and room quality also fell short of the expectations I had for the price charged. Unfortunately, my experience was a clear reminder that appearances can influence the way guests are treated. I expected better from a brand that prides itself on professionalism, especially toward service members.

The WiFi is so bad that I go to the nearby Starbucks to work.

Very nice location in the East Plazzio right next to Bowlero. Also The Warren, Trauma, Chicken N Pickle, Jose Peppers, Cheddar, and Freddy's. Good service, nice staff, good breakfast ☺️

There was not a view of the river, but the nearby arena shot off fireworks and I could see those from the room! There's a coffeeshop across the parking lot, though it wasn't needed since there's coffee available in the lobby. The breakfast included hot food items and several toppings like nuts and berries for either oatmeal or yogurt. Parking was very easy. It has a pool right off the elevator. The alarm clock was easier to set than most. The mattress was very soft. I like the rug under the sofa, which I believe is intended for dogs and would be easily washable. The TV had free Showtime. I would stay there again.

I visited Kansas for the first time as my daughter just moved there. The king suite was really large, very clean, and nice. The breakfast was much better than most free breakfasts, and the staff was excellent. The location was close to the airport, which was convenient. I’d highly recommend this hotel.

Travelers Beware!!! Avoid This Hotel at All Costs We booked through Capital One in advance, with everything fully paid before check-in. However, upon arrival, the hotel charged us twice more for our stay. The issues started as soon as we arrived. The lobby was run-down, with stained drop ceiling tiles and glitter scattered everywhere. Although the website promised express check-in, we waited over an hour. Only one elevator was working, with no inspection papers in sight, and it felt like it could break down any second—definitely not a comforting ride. Once in our room, the problems kept coming: the toilet didn’t work, the A/C was broken, the mattress was stained, and the alarm clock was busted. To top it off, when we tried to connect to the WiFi, the instructions said to dial “0” for the front desk—but the phone didn’t work. We checked out early and are still fighting to get a refund. Stay away from this place—it’s not worth the hassle.
