Ella Nature Nest
4.1/532 Reviews
I travel solo and I prefer quiet and peaceful places where I can't hear the noise of the city or the music from the night clubs. So Nature Nest was just perfect for me. I liked everything. The room was light and spacious, a comfortable bad, a big bathroom with hot shower and a nice balcony made my stay cozy and pleasant. And it was so nice to hear the chirping of birds outside in the morning. It took me about 10 minutes to walk down to Ella and maybe a little more to walk up. And every time the walk in the nature was nice and pleasant. Sampat and Nadeeka were really helpful, they gave me many useful tips and good advice about Ella and Sri Lanka and I just had a great time talking with them. The food they cooked was really delicious and also they were so kind to give me a cooking lesson and even a ride when I needed it. I highly recommend the Nature Nest to anyone who values comfort and calmness. And I will be glad to come back if I have such a chance.
Hotel Onrock
4.3/556 Reviews
This hotel trades off the views which are undoubtedly quite lovely. My room was clean, and bed very comfortable. Overall, this is all very acceptable and the staff are excessively helpful and attentive which can't be faulted. The location is very good albeit up a steep hill from the main street thronging with restaurants. There are some challenges that would, otherwise, make this a luxury experience... selecting TV channels on the two remotes is clunky; there is no chair in the room other than a beanbag, so lounging on the bed is the only option; there's no luggage stand, so leaving open luggage on the floor is not ideal with occasional creepy crawlies around; the light switch is not within reach of the bed; the hot water for the shower never gets beyond tepid which is ok given the hot weather; shower gel and soap is limited to one small plastic bottle and a tiny hand soap which doesn't compare to modern luxury hotels offering refillable shower and hand gel; drinking water is limited to two small bottles during your stay unless you ask for more (they are very accommodating). So, while this independent hotel is lovely and welcoming, and a cut above most local options in Ella, it's not quite a polished luxury experience if that's what you're expecting. Overall I'd recommend Hotel Onrock as a great Ella option though.
Ella Dream Catcher Resort
4.5/534 Reviews
We had a unique and memorable 2 nights stay at the lovely Dream Catcher Resort near Ella in a place called Kitha ella. The resort is set amongst the scenic serene hills, on one side you can admire the beautiful valley and on the other side you can see the train track and the hills. The location is amazing, far from the maddening crowd of Ella town, yet just 5 minutes drive and half an hour walk to Ella town. Very close to the Kuda Ravana falls and on the way to Ella Rock. The owner and the staff are so welcoming and will do everything to make your stay comfortable. The food cooked was fresh and delicious. The rooms are very clean and spacious. The road towards the place is steep, but nothing a Sri Lankan driver cannot tackle. We had lovely early morning walks/jogs in the vicinity. Night time star gazing was amazing.

Train View Chalet
4.8/531 Reviews
We were a group and visited as a family. It was a truly memorable trip and a stay at Train View Chalet. It was the most comfortable trip we ever had as everything was organized by Eranda. Starting from purchasing the train tickets, pick up from Bandarawela Station and taking us to our location. The staff were very efficient and friendly, we didn't have to tell them anything, but they took care of everything. Unloading our baggage, dropping them to each of our rooms. The rooms were clean and spacious and was provided with basic requirements. We felt as if we are home away from home. The atmosphere and surroundings were wonderful, and it is superb to relax. Even though it is named Train View Chalet, the trains do not travel in a disturbing way. You can watch the train passing by from your own room. The food was well presented and tasty. We stayed there 3 days and 2 nights, and we have no complaints nor any negative comments only recommendations for anyone who wants to visit this unique place. When it was time for our departure, we were dropped off to the station and the staff accompanied us to assist us with loading our baggage to train and for goodbyes. it was a hassle-free trip, and overall, it is ”Value for Money”. Finally, a big ”Thank You” to Eranda & Team for taking such good care of us and for your simplicity and friendliness. We will return to experience your great hospitality in future as well.
