This is an older 4-star hotel, and its overall design style definitely shows its age. The room was really spacious, which is quite rare to find in Japan, especially for this price point – great value for money, especially since it's the off-season. Although the location is a bit out of the way, the surrounding environment is lovely. I'd definitely consider staying here again if I come back. I particularly want to highlight that the bedding was made up very professionally, and it was clean and comfortable.
One of the most unforgettable stays we’ve ever had. From the moment my family stepped through the door, we were wrapped in a warm, cosy ambience that instantly made us feel at ease. The room was impeccably clean and wonderfully comfortable, offering the perfect space to relax and unwind. Both dinner and breakfast were nothing short of exceptional—each meal thoughtfully prepared and absolutely delightful. The onsen, overlooking a serene river view, was the true highlight, creating a tranquil and almost dreamlike experience. Every moment spent there felt precious and completely worthwhile.
Very nice hotel in town with onsen. Breakfast was good with selection of both Japanese and Western options. They also offer free supper and ice sticks. There are limited parking bays in front of hotel but once you secured it, it's yours for the entire stay. There's a separate parking lot a minute walk away. Parking is at a reasonable rate of 1100 per day.
Free parking — the car park is right in front of the hotel’s main entrance, very convenient for drivers.
The room was clean. The three‑bed room was enough for our family (2 adults, a 12‑year‑old, a 9‑year‑old, and a 5‑year‑old). Breakfast was good. The onsen was also nice and clean. They even provide complimentary popsicles after the onsen — my kids loved them.
The staff were very polite and helpful.
Overall, good value for money.
I have no complaints at all to this Onsen Ryokan. It is definitely an old building, but the upkeep was done well. We were slightly late to check in (need to check in by 6pm so that the kaiseki dinner could be served), emailed them on their way and they replied pretty fast. We were greeted by the receptionist that is able to speak fluent English, she showed us around and sharing the facilities available. One small disappointment is although we mentioned we would like to have dinner together with 2 other rooms (our parents and siblings) when they asked us via email before the trip, they didn't manage to arrange it (and we arrived too late to make necessary arrangements). Nonetheless, the breakfast at the hall 2nd day they did arrange a big table for 9 of us including a kid and an infant. The onsens are superb, it is clean and has clear instructions what to do. When I visited, the ryokan is quite quiet, I enjoyed the serenity a lot!
The hotel has a calm, zen-like atmosphere that makes it easy to relax. Breakfast offers a great variety, and the bed is exceptionally comfortable. It’s also conveniently located within walking distance of the station.
We paid an additional 4,500 yen for a private onsen, and it was absolutely worth it. Don’t miss trying the Hida beef—it’s a must.
Honestly, I wish we had stayed another night.
You can see the hotel right after turning right from the station, which makes getting around super convenient.
Breakfast options were limited, and I didn't use the public bath.
The front desk was helpful with luggage storage. However, they overcharged me for the accommodation tax, but thankfully, they noticed their mistake and contacted me proactively to issue a refund.
This hotel is super convenient for solo travelers, being close to both the train and bus stations. The room was incredibly clean and surprisingly spacious for a standard room in Japan – we could easily fit two large suitcases! The hotel's location is also great, close to popular attractions and restaurants.
Great location, within walking distance to many restaurants. They have their own paid parking, which is convenient for those traveling by car. The hot spring views must be beautiful during the day, and the facilities are very complete. Overall, a great experience!
I stayed there for 3d2n on my trip to Takayama with my sister and son. They offered great hospitality and delicious hide beef breakfast. They even offered the free kimono trying and allow us to wear it to walk around at Sanmachi-dori for a day. We also booked their private outdoor onsen, it was really great!
The only setback is their location abit far from City Center, we will need to walk 30mins to bus station, morning market and old street. But the view and weather is comfortable and nice on the way to there. You can take cab too.
I wish i can come back one day :)
