Ocean View Hotels in Shandong, China

"The location is excellent, right in Hanlefang, with a lively atmosphere downstairs. It's very convenient for dining, strolling, and shopping in the evening. It's also close to the train and bus stations. It's a bit of a distance from Torch Eight Street, about a 30-minute taxi ride. The hotel front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is also quiet at night. However, there are a few rather unique aspects: 1. There's a turnstile between the lobby and the elevators that requires a room card swipe. While swiping a room card for the elevator is common, having an additional turnstile like an office building is unusual and overly cumbersome. 2. The room layout is very unique; you have to 'search' for the toilet, shower, walk-in closet, and toiletries, as they are not immediately obvious. The closet door, when pulled out, directly blocks the entrance door. 3. A deposit is required upon check-in, though the refund process is quick. 4. For luggage storage, you need to scan a QR code yourself. It's free for up to 6 hours, and even if you exceed that, the front desk can still arrange free storage. 5. I stayed for two consecutive nights on two separate bookings. Even though I had called the night before to confirm a continuous stay without room cleaning or changes, the next day I couldn't open my door upstairs and had to go back to the front desk on the first floor to swipe my card again. I've had similar situations in Yantai where I could smoothly use my card for continuous check-in without this double process. Overall, the staff were very helpful, and they promptly contacted me when I left an item behind, which I greatly appreciated. However, the overall check-in experience felt less than user-friendly, with various cumbersome procedures. I'm not sure if this management style is typical for hotels in Weihai or just this particular one. It's not necessarily bad, just very different – I haven't encountered these specific situations anywhere else in the country."

"Pros: The hotel view was decent, and the room was relatively quiet. Cons: The breakfast was terrible, absolutely not worth ¥128 per person. The breakfast hours are 6:30 AM - 10:00 AM, but whether you went at 9 AM or 7 AM, most of the food wasn't hot (even the fried eggs were cold). The restaurant staff lacked service awareness, both in the Japanese restaurant and the breakfast area. This might also be due to understaffing (the same few staff members were seen running around in the breakfast area every day, and because they were overwhelmed, they naturally became less attentive). The hotel is right next to Wanda Plaza (with an underground passage leading directly to it), offering many dining options. I strongly recommend: booking a room without breakfast, without breakfast!! The Japanese buffet on the 26th floor is also not recommended. It was arguably the worst all-you-can-eat experience I've had. At ¥298 per person, the food was mediocre. For the sashimi platter, apart from the slipper lobster, everything else (salmon, sweet shrimp, tuna, surf clam, etc.) was not good. Recommended cooked dishes: beef tongue, beef, scallops, abalone. Not recommended cooked dishes: Buddha Jumps Over the Wall, squid tempura, shishamo, garlic oysters (small and dry)."

"The location is excellent, with a developed commercial area nearby and a high concentration of good food and entertainment. Within a 10-minute walk, you can find beaches, yachts, sea fishing, and go-karts. The balcony view is great, directly facing the Tidal Tower, which is beautiful both day and night. A short walk takes you to the Rizhao Science and Technology Museum, which is very interesting and impressive. The biggest drawback is the terrible food at the hotel. Breakfast is below average; if you want to make a sandwich, your only option is fried bacon, with no ham available. The dinner buffet was particularly bad. The roasted meat was tough from being heated for too long, and the oysters were completely dried out from steaming. The mini hot pot was also poor, with many of the shellfish being rotten. Eventually, the steam rising from the pot smelled so bad that we had to ask the waiter to remove it. The sashimi even included processed ingredients made from fish meat, fish roe, and crab roe (see picture 8). The only good things at the all-day dining restaurant were the various baked goods and Shandong pancakes. The price of the dinner buffet is very cheap, but I hope the hotel cherishes its reputation. I'd be willing to pay a higher price for good quality ingredients; please don't tarnish the Marriott brand. To be fair, this hotel's price, view, and surrounding amenities are all suitable, and I would choose it again next time, so I still gave it a good review. However, I will not dine at the hotel again, as the food is just too poor (except for the baked goods, which are truly delicious)."

"Check-in was quick and easy. The hotel is located right across the street from the beach, and there's a shower downstairs to rinse off sand. Our oceanfront room had incredible, unobstructed views of the sunset. Torch Eight Street is also nearby, less than a 10-minute walk away. There's a convenience store downstairs and various seafood restaurants."

"This 168-square-meter apartment with 3 bedrooms, 2 living rooms, 3 bathrooms, and 1 kitchen easily accommodates 5 people. The sea view from the room is unbeatable, and the location is prime, within a 15-minute walk to MIXC Mall or May Fourth Square. That's probably why the price is a bit high. The hotel is quite old, so the facilities are a bit dated. If you're not overly particular about modern amenities, it's still highly recommended."

"This stay was absolutely fantastic! The hotel's location is excellent, with easy access to transportation, and plenty of restaurants and shops nearby, including Hanlefang which is very close. The room was spacious and bright, and the cleanliness was impeccable – the bathroom was spotless. The bed was super comfortable, ensuring a great night's sleep. Check-in at the front desk was quick, and the service was attentive and polite. The facilities are well-maintained, and the environment is quiet and peaceful. It's truly great value for money. I'll definitely choose this hotel for future trips and highly recommend it to everyone!"

"This hotel is really comfortable and so close to Yangma Island. Both the facilities and services are excellent. On our second day, one of my friends overslept and we were in a rush to catch our ferry. When I asked a staff member in the restaurant if I could pack two croissants, he immediately handed me several to-go boxes and urged me to pack some hot food for my friend to eat in the car. I was so touched! I'll definitely choose Huanghai Hotel again next time. I absolutely loved the hotel breakfast; I've even attached some photos of the restaurant. Just one question: why are all the rooms designed to have a side view of the sea? The 'full sea view' is actually from the corridor window, haha!"

"錯峯旅個遊，酒店新開沒多久本來怕有味道，不過一進房間還好，基本聞不到味道，酒店隔壁就是萬達出門買個東西逛個商場很方便，離海邊十幾分鍾吧，現在正好人少，服務整體來説很不錯，入住的時候前台還介紹了一下當地的美食和旅遊線路，一樓有個水世界和泳池，不想出門的人小孩大人都有地方玩，這點很好，房間衞生打掃的也挺乾淨的，窗外就可以看到大海，早餐種類也挺多，口味也還可以，整體感覺很好。"

The front desk was very efficient and even thoughtfully informed us about breakfast times. The room had excellent natural light, was spotlessly clean throughout, and had no strange odors. The mattress and pillows were just right, ensuring a very peaceful night's sleep. There's 24-hour hot water, and both the air conditioning's heating and cooling worked powerfully. Downstairs, there are plenty of dining options and a supermarket, making getting around incredibly convenient. Winnie from Guest Relations provided excellent service, thoughtfully arranging our room and promptly responding to any issues during our stay. For the same price point, the quality here far surpasses other places. It's perfect for both leisure and business travelers. I genuinely recommend it to all my friends, and I'll definitely book here again next time!"

"The Yihai Garden Hotel boasts an excellent location, very close to May Fourth Square, making it super convenient for getting around and sightseeing. The city view room with its floor-to-ceiling windows offers fantastic views. The king-size bed is spacious and comfortable, and the room itself is clean with complete facilities. The staff provides attentive service, making our family trip very comfortable. Highly recommended!"
