Hotels With Spa in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany

Glücklicherweise konnten wir einen öffentlichen Parkplatz direkt vor dem Hotel ergattern und der Parkuhr eine 24-Stunden-Buchung entlocken. Denn die schmale Einfahrt zur Hotelgarage sowie ein Parkliftsystem ist für unsere „Familienkutsche“ ungeeignet (Erfahrungswerte!). Verständigung mit dem Rezeptionspersonal recht „holprig“ mangels ausreichend guter Deutschkenntnisse von deren Seite. Eine an uns übergebene Zugangskarte für Zimmer und Hotelaußentür (ab definierte Abenduhrzeit einzige Möglichkeit ins Gebäude zu gelangen) war nicht freigeschaltet. Zimmer war für unsere „Ansprüche“ gut (erstaunlich für diese Hotelkategorie -＞ Kühlschrank für die Kühlung selbst mitzubringender Dinge vorhanden) Frühstück: Quark für Musli habe ich vermisst und leider nur die stark zuckerhaltigen Fertigcerealien vorgefunden. Ergo lieber gleich verzichtet. Weil mir der Meerrettich bzw. die Meerrettichsahne nicht zu den anderen Lebensmitteln passend schien habe ich nachgefragt, wozu dieser gedacht sei… Mit dem Wort Meerrettich konnte der „Frühstücksservice“ nichts angefangen. Also habe ich gefragt, ob diese „Zutat“ für „salmon“ gedacht sei. Daraufhin wurde mir erklärt, dass der Lachs aus sei (ca. 9:30 / gefrühstückt wird wohl im „Schichtsystem“, nachdem wir bei Anreise gefragt wurden, in welchem „Zeitfenster“ wir zu frühstücken besnsichtigen). Sehr irritierend - wir konnten nämlich unmittelbar zuvor direkt beobachten, wie eine nich halb volle Platte mit Lachsaufschnitt in die Küche getragen worden war. Wollte sich das Personal für‘s eigene Frühstück (auch das hatten wir beobachten können) diese Leckerei exklusiv „sichern“?

If you are in town for business for +5 days might want to consider other options with variety of services and customer oriented.

We travelled to Ludwigshafen for business and looked for hotels near to the work premises, unfortunately the 'Excelsior Hotel' was first in the list. At only 90 euros a night (including breakfast) it is no doubt a 'budget' option, but it isn't budget in the respect of a Travelodge or Premier Inn, instead it's a lost hotel in a pretty unpleasant area which has been left to decay. The hotel is a short walk from the railway station, graffiti-covered walls surround the hotel, and the first impression of the hotel visually is not a positive one, it's hard to even find the way in, amongst scaffolding and concrete jungle. At night, it's a fairly unsafe-feeling area, with people 'hangin around' looking suspicious. The one positive aspect upon booking was the 'Skybar', however digging deeper into reviews, it's clear that it's been closed long before the 'pandemic', infact 4 years ago, and upon arrival we were informed that it's still closed with no future planned. There is no restaurant onsite, nor bar besides a mini-fridge sat on the reception desk with a few bottles of beer available. Upon check-in, I was also asked for my 'date of birth' and home address, which often feels irrelevant, I refused to give such details. Once in the room, via the lift which takes about 5 minutes to arrive and to move, there's no air conditioning which during 32c weather was painful, but fortunately there was a fan. The room size isn't bad at all and the bed was comfortable, but the presentation of the room, as a new guest, wasn't considerate. A pile of electrical extension and cables was next to my bed, not tucked away out of sight. The internet connection was virtually useless in the afternoon/evenings after guests start to utilise it, I resorted to using mobile data instead. There are balconies, but they're just concrete and far from cosy, although the view over the city isn't at all bad. There is no furniture and in addition from a security aspect someone could easily go from their balcony to yours, therefore always be sure to lock and chain the balcony door when not in the room, or at night. At night, you can hear noise from neighbouring rooms, above, below and to the sides, I am also fairly sure that I had 3 'bed-bug' bites from my two night stay at the hotel. Breakfast was included in my 90 euro rate and the breakfast restaurant isn't bad, the service is friendly but the choice is limited, a few cold options and minimal hot options, no bacon or sausages unfortunately. It was a little off-putting to see mouse-traps being laid around the restaurant while I was sat trying to enjoy my meal. While away from the hotel, I left the 'Do Not Disturb' sign on the door, despite this upon return later that afternoon the cleaner had been into the room and cleaned, this is not acceptable when the message is clearly made that the room should not be disturbed. Overall, were it not for the price, I'd mark this as 'Terrible', but the price has to be considered, although the fu

The room was very clean, the bed was comfy, the breakfast was excellent (many choices, everything fresh, stuff was very kind/supportive). The location cannot be better - only couple of meter towards the main street (also the Christmas Market). Parking is possible on two underground floors - there were many places available independent there was a full house. We would come back anytime again in the future and this place is very recommended for everyone!

The hotel has plenty of promise but it didn't really meet my expectations I chose the hotel specifically for its underground parking as it's quite some way out of the city centre, and so not somewhere I'd recommend if you didn't have car. When I got there I was told the underground parking was closed for maintenance, and I could park on the street, which at that time of day was impossible. It was only when I pushed the issue they said I could park in the little open air car park at the rear, which was still 15 EUR per day. The room they allocated me had a loud whining noise coming from the bathroom, and would have prevented me sleeping, and when I went to ask for a new room they didn't seem to believe me but then took ages to allocate me a new room. No idea why. One of the nice features of the hotel is if you choose to not have your room cleaned you get a token for a free drink at the bar. The first time I went to claim my drink the bar was closed as they were checking in lots of people, so can only assume were short staffed. The next night there seemed to be a single girl manning both the bar and the front desk and she couldn't cope (not her fault) so I just gave my token to a random guy as I wasn't prepared to wait so long for a free beer. On the positive side they were really helpful when I was stupid enough to drop a bottle of beer in the car park when unpacking my car, and they cleaned it up for me without any fuss. I would recommend staying as close to the centre of the hotel as I was at the far end (315) and the WiFi was very poor, and so had to tether my laptop to my phone. One really nice touch was the room had a bluetooth soundbar so you could play your music on your phone in the room. This was a really nice touch. Maybe I just had a bad experience, but I probably would not stay there again, and definitely not if I didn't have a car.

Das Zimmer ist hellhörig, ein Nachbar duschte sich noch um 0:30 Uhr, ich dachte, es wäre bei mir. Die Wischböden haben keine oder schlechte Trittschalldämmung, man hört jeden Schritt vom Nachbarzimmer. Im Zimmerdesign hat sich ein Architekt ausgetobt, der ganz sicher nie selbst darin wohnen muss: Die Dusche und das Waschbecken sind direkt neben dem Bett! Somit verteilen sich schön die Duschdämpfe und Haare beim Fönen im Zimmer, geschweige von einer ”Privatsphäre”. Das WC ist zum Glück in einem kleinen Raum, aber so winzig, dass man kaum an der Tür vorbei kommt. Es gibt keine Sitzgelegenheit mit Rückenlehne, in der man sich nach einem anstrengenden Tag bequem hinsetzen könnte, nur ein unförmiges Ledersitzkissen. Als ich dies bemängelte, sagte man mir, das wäre so gewollt. Das Konzept will etwas, was der Gast nicht möchte, interessant. Auch sucht man vergeblich einen Schrank oder ein Regal für die Kleidung, es gibt nur eine offene Kleiderstange mit Kleiderbügeln und eine Kofferablage, man lebt also aus dem Koffer. Der Seifenspender am Waschbecken war total verstaubt, der in der Dusche defekt. Ansonsten war das Zimmer hell, 2 riesige Fenster bis zum Boden. Das Doppelbett war bequem. Die Beleuchtung lässt sich schön mit Touchpad vom Bett aus regeln. WLAN funktioniert hervorragend. Das Frühstück war bei meinem Preis von ca. 75 € (1 Person) inklusive. Daher darf man selbstverständlich auch kein Bio-Gourmetfrühstück erwarten. Entsprechend ist daher die Qualität: billige Wurst, Käse, Fertigjoghurt in großen Schüsseln, süßer billiger O-Saft, Fertigbouletten usw. Die Auswahl an sich ist allerdings angemessen reichlich, wie Rührei, Würstchen, Müsli, verschiedene Brötchen, 2 Kaffeautomaten usw. Allerdings werden die Tische nicht regelmäßig abgewischt, man räumt sein Geschirr selber weg. Daher muss man nach einem sauberen Tisch suchen. Der Raum ist riesig und ungemütlich, allerdings ringsum voll verglast, wodurch man zumindest einen schönen Ausblick hatte. Abends gibt es in diesem großen Aufenthaltsbereich auch Essen wie Pizza, Burger, Pasta, Wraps und Salate, wie ich der Karte entnahm. Das Personal war durchgängig wirklich sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Der Parkplatz ist mit 20 € überteuert und war bereits voll. Ich habe dann nach ca. 5 Minuten Suche einen Parkplatz nur ein paar 100 m entfernt in einer Seitenstraße gefunden, der mit Parkuhr 1 €/Std kostet, wobei nur bis 19 Uhr und ab 9 Uhr bezahlt werden muss. Oder 100 m weiter sogar mit Glück gratis (ich hatte Glück). Insgesamt ein günstiges Hotel mit etlichen Schwächen, die ohne viel Mehrkosten vermeidbar gewesen wären. Zumindest können das andere Budgethotels besser.

This hotel is located just in front of the train station which is so convenient, also mean the main bus stop is here. It's quite well decorated. Despite its old built, it's well organized inside. Unfortunately I got the room on the backside but still got the top floor, so won't complain. They have AC and heater(separately). Just only one hair in found in the bathroom is the diasadvantage. Oh well, the blanket seems to be smaller than a queen bed. Maybe because I book just for one, anyway I hope to get a big one. A women at the reception I met was nice, friendly. Overall, I kinda like it here. Well, haven't tried thier breakfast so, can't say. I will be back here if I visit Mainz for some business reasons.

Es wurde ausführlich über alles wissenswerte informiert. Hunde sind erlaubt! Da es in der Nähe keine Parkplätze gibt, wird angeboten für 13 Euro in der Tiefgarage zu parken. Das öffentliche Parkhaus berechnet 15 Euro. Die Lage ist sehr günstig. Vom Bahnhof sind es wenige Meter. Die Innenstadt ist gleich daneben. Das Hotel wurde gründlich renoviert, trotzdem sieht man dem Hotel den 70er-Flair an. Die Zimmer sind sauber. Zum Empfang stand eine Flasche Wasser bereit. Schokolädchen wurden vermisst. Die Minibar war leer. Die Temperatur konnte nur durch Öffnen des Fensters gesteuert werden; es war eindeutig zu warm! Das Zimmer ging zur Straße raus. Die Fenster sind aber schallisoliert. Das Bad ist geräumig. Allerdings irritierte die Bad/Dusch-Kombi. Sehr gut bewerte ich den Roomservice, der nur auf Bestellung kommt. Ich hasse es, wenn fremde Menschen mit meinen Sachen umgehen. Das Schwimmbad ist gut zu erreichen, sauber und passend temperiert. Das Frühstück hat eine reiche Auswahl mit laktose- und glutenfreien Speisen. Die Brötchen sind allerdings Aufbackware. Der Service ist sehr gut. Das Personal immer ansprechbar. Wir hatten Halbpension gebucht. Es gab ein 3-Gänge-Menü. Suppe ok, Hauptgang mittelmäßig. Die Desserts gingen gar nicht. Die Vanillesoße schmeckte intensiv nach Zitrone. Die Panacotta hatte eine merkwürdige Konsistenz. Insgesamt nicht empfehlenswert. Positiv: Lage, Leise,Roomservice auf Anforderung, Mitnahme von Hunden, sauber Negativ: Parken, Abendessen, Zimmer zu warm

Room is cleaned 1x every 3 days and the hand towels used are then discarded, so a nice mountain was dirty on the floor, not a pleasant face. No ventilation in the room, window can be at a ventilation stand, but if the room is on the front ( street side), the sound of traffic of the busy street is ALL ALL, the window must remain close but no fresh air is not fine. Too few parking places, really a disaster, and so ask when checking out: whether your car is in a HOTEL Parking,(and so money for questions) No, of course not, they are certainly insufficient. a hotel at the Nivo of a youth hostel, without any Hotel feeling, for me no repeat, Florin (NL) #2117 stay 13/10 to 20/10 2023

First off, understand that Ludwigshafen is not a happening place. I was here for business, for which I feel the place would be adequate for a day or two stay, but not the week I was here. I titled this as ”try hard”, as that's what I hear my kids call someone who is tries hard and fails, which I feel fits since the hotel tries really hard to be modern and hip. Moxy is Marriot's new brand aimed at the youth and the copies board games, lockers, random graffiti and whatnot scattered around the lobby would imply they are going that way. Considering most of the time it was filled with old businessmen like me would say they might want to consider having this in a more appropriate location. Moxy Lu is a very spartan hotel. No restaurant to speak of - on Sunday I asked if they had any lunch offerings as nothing is around there and they told me their one and only oven, used to cook breakfast, was broken and wouldn't be working for at least a few hours. There is a very solid Italian restaurant next door but you don't want to eat that every day. There's also right now a Christmas market nearby but the opening timing for it is very variable. It's also next to the Rhine mall but understand that German business hours are earlier than American so it closes early and is closed entirely on Sunday. Rooms are clearly advertised as capsule types and they are very reminiscent of Japanese capsule rooms - a bed, bathroom, a chair, and that's it. A hook on the wall and 4 hangers is all your clothes storage, a 6 inch wide, 2 foot long glass panel sticking out from the wall is your ”desk”, and that's it. No safe, no shelves, no coffee machine, nothing. Definitely not where I wanted to spend a week, but that's not their fault. The hotel is very new and is very clean overall. Also a plus that it is very quiet. I've been in hotels where I could literally hear the person walking around next door. All that said, why 3 stars? Well, as clean as it was, there was a long black hair at eye level in the shower when I first stepped in. As I'm folically challenged, I'm certain it wasn't mine. Secondly, one of the elevators broke multiple times while I was there, once trapping a person in there for 15 minutes while I was in the lobby. He eventually tumbled out, angry, scared, and half-clothed (took off some clothes as he was feeling very hot). Said elevator was not flagged as being out of order for at least an hour after as I was in and out. Eventually it was. It had an out of order sign still on it on my second day despite being in use...assumed this was an error before the guy got caught in front of me. Not good management of an issue, I feel.

Located on the Rhine River, the morning is very quiet and the scenery is beautiful. The hotel is very quiet, the room feels and the area is spacious. The breakfast at the hotel is very good, but it is recommended to market in the nearby town centre.

I arrived at the hotel at 12:30 pm, and had sent an email in advance to let them know I will be arriving before official check-in time. My email was literally answered within minutes, and I was happy to find out that they had a room ready for me when I got to the hotel. The reception was busy, so I had to wait for a while as one party was checking in and another checking out, but when it became my turn, the friendly receptionist had me checked in within minutes. My room on the second floor was very nice for a three star hotel, and I might even go as far as to say that the room met four star standards. It was probably recently renovated, as it felt very fresh and modern and was in impeccable condition. It was not very large, but came with a balcony and a view of the park outside the hotel. There was a desk&chair, a closet, a safe and good A/C, but no water bottle, no fridge and no sitting area. Wifi was easy to use and fast, however, I believe Youtube was banned, because all other websites worked fine but I was not able to access Youtube at all. That felt a bit strange. The queen bed, although too soft for my taste, was otherwise fine for one person although the pillow was flimsy and I had to request another one, which was gladly brought up to my room. There were sockets by the bed, so charging your devices overnight was easy. The bathroom was also clean and fresh and felt recently renovated. The walk-in shower came with excellent water pressure. There was enough room for toiletries etc by the sink, however the bath towel was extremely small. Amenities only included soap, shampoo and shower gel. No conditioner or body lotion. These came in wall-mounted containers, of which I am not a fan because I don’t find them particularly hygienic. I wish hotels saved money in other ways and not by abandoning single-use toiletries. The hotel serves breakfast in the ground floor breakfast room from 6:30 to 10:30, and from 7 to 12 on weekends. My rate did not include breakfast, but I popped in the first morning to see the spread. It was definitely not worth the price (20.50 EUR), so my suggestioon would be to buy something at the supermarket a block away or to have breakfast in a nearby café. I had a late flight out, and was informed that they could extend my check-out until 12:30 pm at no charge, and beyond that they offered a late check-out at 4 pm for 19 EUR. It was a bargain and I was happy to take up on the offer. The hotel is located two minutes from the main railway station, and I walked to all the sights and restaurants in the city centre area. The Markt and Dom (cathedral) is about a 15 min walk from the hotel. I found the location excellent and will be sure to stay here again if my travels take me to Mainz in the future.

We were staying in the separate building (some hundred meters), so not very comfortable for breakfast and pool, which are in the main building. who busy the room. Unfortunately as always the moquettes and tapehouse furniture do not leave any room. Another small signal: the water of the pool a little cold. extremely good breakfast. extremely kind staff. 

In addition to the remote location, otherwise it is not the price now. There is no air conditioning in the room, which is a flaw for people who are afraid of heat. Everything else is impeccable, the breakfast is rich, the sanitation is excellent, and the hotel also provides free indoor parking.

What was supposed to be a relaxing wellness weekend for my partner's birthday unfortunately turned into a complete disappointment. As we were enthusiastic about the Favorite Parkhotel during our last stay two years ago, this time we had very high expectations, which were unfortunately completely disappointed and we were quickly brought back down to earth. The superior room we had booked was unfortunately one of the very dusty, old-fashioned rooms on the 5th floor, in contrast to the last stay when we had been given a modern room. There was nothing to complain about in terms of cleanliness, but it started with the fact that on the day of arrival our room was not ready for occupancy for a long time and the man at reception had obviously forgotten us, so we had to ask several times about the current status of the check-in option. The elevator was of course broken, so we had to carry our luggage up to the 5th floor. When the staff asked if we needed help, of course there was no response. The elevator was regularly broken from the day of arrival to the day of departure (Thursday-Sunday)... The energy cost is another of those additional fees that are beyond comprehension. It would be a more honest decision for the hotel to adjust the overnight prices accordingly. The wellness area on the roof is still completely undersized for a hotel of this size, and the whirlpool was out of service for two days. The hotel's newly designed spa area on the ground floor is visually very appealing, but there are too few places to lie down for the size of the hotel. The design here was more about appearance than practicality, because the large number of guests gave the whole place the atmosphere of a train station, with no trace of relaxation. It would have been sensible to separate the rest areas, but as it is, you are in the middle of through traffic... unfortunately a total failure. When I was asked by a receptionist on the day of departure whether I had enjoyed my stay and answered ”Unfortunately not”, his reaction was a simple ”Oh, that's a shame, I'm sorry”. It would have been more appropriate to simply ask why I was dissatisfied, because how can a hotel improve if it doesn't ask about criticism? But the motto here is: it doesn't matter, the customer has left, so I don't care why the customer didn't like it. At just under 800.- for three nights and a visit to the hotel's own restaurant, this was a very disappointing experience. I had communicated with the hotel well in advance that it was supposed to be a birthday surprise for my partner, but they said: of course not. It was clear to us that this hotel was finished for us, there are better places.

Glücklicherweise konnten wir einen öffentlichen Parkplatz direkt vor dem Hotel ergattern und der Parkuhr eine 24-Stunden-Buchung entlocken. Denn die schmale Einfahrt zur Hotelgarage sowie ein Parkliftsystem ist für unsere „Familienkutsche“ ungeeignet (Erfahrungswerte!). Verständigung mit dem Rezeptionspersonal recht „holprig“ mangels ausreichend guter Deutschkenntnisse von deren Seite. Eine an uns übergebene Zugangskarte für Zimmer und Hotelaußentür (ab definierte Abenduhrzeit einzige Möglichkeit ins Gebäude zu gelangen) war nicht freigeschaltet. Zimmer war für unsere „Ansprüche“ gut (erstaunlich für diese Hotelkategorie -＞ Kühlschrank für die Kühlung selbst mitzubringender Dinge vorhanden) Frühstück: Quark für Musli habe ich vermisst und leider nur die stark zuckerhaltigen Fertigcerealien vorgefunden. Ergo lieber gleich verzichtet. Weil mir der Meerrettich bzw. die Meerrettichsahne nicht zu den anderen Lebensmitteln passend schien habe ich nachgefragt, wozu dieser gedacht sei… Mit dem Wort Meerrettich konnte der „Frühstücksservice“ nichts angefangen. Also habe ich gefragt, ob diese „Zutat“ für „salmon“ gedacht sei. Daraufhin wurde mir erklärt, dass der Lachs aus sei (ca. 9:30 / gefrühstückt wird wohl im „Schichtsystem“, nachdem wir bei Anreise gefragt wurden, in welchem „Zeitfenster“ wir zu frühstücken besnsichtigen). Sehr irritierend - wir konnten nämlich unmittelbar zuvor direkt beobachten, wie eine nich halb volle Platte mit Lachsaufschnitt in die Küche getragen worden war. Wollte sich das Personal für‘s eigene Frühstück (auch das hatten wir beobachten können) diese Leckerei exklusiv „sichern“?

The hotel is nearly new, spacious enough, good location if you need to go to the train station, quiet sleep, good breakfast, pleasant co-guests, helpful reception apart from one female employee who only does the necessary without a smile and a receptionist who was speaking to a colleague or friend in regards to an upcoming holiday which made us feel not being a welcomed guest.

A hotel on the Rhine with a beautiful environment and underground parking. The hotel is 1 km away from the main business street in the city center, convenient for shopping and walking. The hotel rooms are clean and comfortable, the breakfast is rich in variety, the ingredients are fresh, very delicious, and there is freshly ground coffee. Worth living.

I would not rate this hotel as 5*. Following the request on the hotel website, I did not place a bad review but wrote to the hotel with my observations. The e mail has not even been acknowledged. Essentially there were issues with cleaning, room maintenance, service in the restaurant at both breakfast and dinner and the balcony, for which we had paid a considerable premium gave us a view of the 1960s road bridge over the river (which the hotel could not help) and straight into the textile free sauna - which it could. This appeared to be a case of style over substance. Be warned that the hotel restaurant is the only option to eat and for the one night we ate at the hotel was disappointing with a bill of €200. The old town of Koblenz is a taxi ride or a walk which takes almost an hour.

A two night stay and on both mornings there was no warm water to take a shower, only cold water! A complete failure of the water heating. After complaining on the first morning, what happened? They said they fixed it but it broke again on the second morning. They gave me a 10% discount on the room bill afterwards, but it was the worst hotel experience that I had in the last years.

We travelled to Ludwigshafen for business and looked for hotels near to the work premises, unfortunately the 'Excelsior Hotel' was first in the list. At only 90 euros a night (including breakfast) it is no doubt a 'budget' option, but it isn't budget in the respect of a Travelodge or Premier Inn, instead it's a lost hotel in a pretty unpleasant area which has been left to decay. The hotel is a short walk from the railway station, graffiti-covered walls surround the hotel, and the first impression of the hotel visually is not a positive one, it's hard to even find the way in, amongst scaffolding and concrete jungle. At night, it's a fairly unsafe-feeling area, with people 'hangin around' looking suspicious. The one positive aspect upon booking was the 'Skybar', however digging deeper into reviews, it's clear that it's been closed long before the 'pandemic', infact 4 years ago, and upon arrival we were informed that it's still closed with no future planned. There is no restaurant onsite, nor bar besides a mini-fridge sat on the reception desk with a few bottles of beer available. Upon check-in, I was also asked for my 'date of birth' and home address, which often feels irrelevant, I refused to give such details. Once in the room, via the lift which takes about 5 minutes to arrive and to move, there's no air conditioning which during 32c weather was painful, but fortunately there was a fan. The room size isn't bad at all and the bed was comfortable, but the presentation of the room, as a new guest, wasn't considerate. A pile of electrical extension and cables was next to my bed, not tucked away out of sight. The internet connection was virtually useless in the afternoon/evenings after guests start to utilise it, I resorted to using mobile data instead. There are balconies, but they're just concrete and far from cosy, although the view over the city isn't at all bad. There is no furniture and in addition from a security aspect someone could easily go from their balcony to yours, therefore always be sure to lock and chain the balcony door when not in the room, or at night. At night, you can hear noise from neighbouring rooms, above, below and to the sides, I am also fairly sure that I had 3 'bed-bug' bites from my two night stay at the hotel. Breakfast was included in my 90 euro rate and the breakfast restaurant isn't bad, the service is friendly but the choice is limited, a few cold options and minimal hot options, no bacon or sausages unfortunately. It was a little off-putting to see mouse-traps being laid around the restaurant while I was sat trying to enjoy my meal. While away from the hotel, I left the 'Do Not Disturb' sign on the door, despite this upon return later that afternoon the cleaner had been into the room and cleaned, this is not acceptable when the message is clearly made that the room should not be disturbed. First off, understand that Ludwigshafen is not a happening place. I was here for business, for which I feel the place would be adequate for a day or two stay, but not the week I was here. I titled this as ”try hard”, as that's what I hear my kids call someone who is tries hard and fails, which I feel fits since the hotel tries really hard to be modern and hip. Moxy is Marriot's new brand aimed at the youth and the copies board games, lockers, random graffiti and whatnot scattered around the lobby would imply they are going that way. Considering most of the time it was filled with old businessmen like me would say they might want to consider having this in a more appropriate location. Moxy Lu is a very spartan hotel. No restaurant to speak of - on Sunday I asked if they had any lunch offerings as nothing is around there and they told me their one and only oven, used to cook breakfast, was broken and wouldn't be working for at least a few hours. There is a very solid Italian restaurant next door but you don't want to eat that every day. There's also right now a Christmas market nearby but the opening timing for it is very variable. It's also next to the Rhine mall but understand that German business hours are earlier than American so it closes early and is closed entirely on Sunday. Rooms are clearly advertised as capsule types and they are very reminiscent of Japanese capsule rooms - a bed, bathroom, a chair, and that's it. A hook on the wall and 4 hangers is all your clothes storage, a 6 inch wide, 2 foot long glass panel sticking out from the wall is your ”desk”, and that's it. No safe, no shelves, no coffee machine, nothing. Definitely not where I wanted to spend a week, but that's not their fault. The hotel is very new and is very clean overall. Also a plus that it is very quiet. I've been in hotels where I could literally hear the person walking around next door. All that said, why 3 stars? Well, as clean as it was, there was a long black hair at eye level in the shower when I first stepped in. As I'm folically challenged, I'm certain it wasn't mine. Secondly, one of the elevators broke multiple times while I was there, once trapping a person in there for 15 minutes while I was in the lobby. He eventually tumbled out, angry, scared, and half-clothed (took off some clothes as he was feeling very hot). Said elevator was not flagged as being out of order for at least an hour after as I was in and out. Eventually it was. It had an out of order sign still on it on my second day despite being in use...assumed this was an error before the guy got caught in front of me. Not good management of an issue, I feel.

Room temperature was just fine, parking is a slight hassle because the parking garage is situated 100m away by foot, thus, luggage handling is less convenient. Hotel staff are friendly. Breakfast choices are meager but doable.
