Amazing! Highly recommend! If you can stretch your budget a bit, it's definitely worth trying – you won't regret it! All my friends were very satisfied! A special shout-out to the housekeeping staff; they discreetly and proactively cleaned up the wet floor from our swimming. So thoughtful! I was in such a rush when leaving that I didn't get to thank them, but I didn't hesitate to leave a tip at the front desk. I hope the hotel sees this and gives them the recognition they deserve!
A pleasant hotel and very kind, polite and helpful staff. There are some terraces and a swimming pool where you can relax and have great views over the Mekong river. We had a river facing room with a large balcony. The room itself was comfortable and relatively clean and the balcony had a chairs, a sofa, a table and clothes drying rack. The hotel is located a little out of town however, offers a free golf cart service to the night market area and other locations. This service is pretty much on call at anytime - I guess within some reasonable hours. There are a few shops close buy where you can purchase essential items and alcohol. The closest small supermarket is Chinese owned so if you speak Chinese it is easy to communicate; and there is a 7 Eleven store a little further on. A pharmacy is also close by and located between the Chinese supermarket and the 7 Eleven. We didn't use the swimming pool however, it appeared to be well maintained a clean. The breakfast we excellent and multiple choices to suit most nationalities. There is a covered outdoor terrace where you can eat breakfast with views over the Mekong. I personally felt the price was a little too high for the hotel.

It was great! The staff were all smiling throughout, making my stay very pleasant.
When I checked in, I was given a wet towel and a welcome drink, and they explained about breakfast, the city's tuk-tuk service, and bicycle rentals.
The room had lovely fabrics and a wonderful scent, making it a very relaxing stay.
For breakfast, I chose the Lao-style breakfast recommended by the hotel staff. It was a huge hit, and the most delicious breakfast I had during my four-night stay. There was also an espresso machine in the breakfast area, so I could enjoy my favorite coffee.
I'd love to stay here again!
My 4 night stay at The Grand Luang Prabang was excellent! The hotel is beautiful. It was a former palace during colonial times and I loved the plentiful lily pads, lotus flowers, and dok champa trees. The staff were also truly incredible. While the hotel is a bit far from downtown Luang Prabang, they were always willing to drive me there for dinner or to explore the night market, and it was really appreciated. If you want to have a special stay at a truly unique hotel, book with The Grand Luang Prabang, it will really add to your overall experience.

We stayed in February for two nights in Luang Prabang, choosing to stay in the Sanctuary Hotel because the architecture is traditional Laotian design. The owner is French and he certainly pays attention to the food, his staff serves delicious Laotian and Western style breakfast with fresh breads and jams and made to order noodles and eggs. He has paid attention to using glass bottles for drinking water in the rooms which reduces plastic waste. Good job!

The hotel is in a very good location, 5 minutes walk from the night market and the Grand Palace! 2 minutes walk from the Mekong River! The hotel is very clean and tidy, quiet in a busy city! The room is cleaned every day, and there are many breakfast packages to choose from! The hotel can book all tickets for you!
This hotel is about 10 minutes drive from the city center. There are pick-up and drop-off vehicles. There is a timetable every day. So it’s not too annoying to travel. Breakfast is generally nothing to have quality things, just ordinary food. The hotel is built next to a rice field. The scenery is not bad. It is suitable for travelers who like to stay away from the city. The hotel equipment is a bit old. The shower faucet in the room is broken on the last day. I am too lazy to fix it.
This place is an oasis . The staff are friendly and professional. The room was lovely with a nice balcony. Breakfast served near the lily pond each morning. It is a short walk into town or you can use one of their free bicycles. The grounds are beautifully manicured. And there was a yummy cookie left in our room each evening. You can also book all excursions around the city through the helpful front desk staff.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel—perfect for families looking for comfort and convenience. The garden is absolutely beautiful, peaceful, and well-maintained—our kids loved running around while we relaxed in the serene atmosphere.
The location is great, just a few minutes from the town center, making it easy to explore local shops, markets, and restaurants. Despite being close to everything, the hotel still feels quiet and relaxing.
The rooms were spotless, spacious, and very comfortable—clearly well taken care of. We especially appreciated the attention to detail and cleanliness.
The staff are amazing—warm, attentive, and always ready to help with a smile. They made our stay even more memorable by going above and beyond for our family.
And the breakfast? Simply superb! A great variety of local and international options, fresh fruits, and delicious coffee or tea’s to start the day right.
Highly recommended for families or anyone looking for a cozy, garden-side stay near town!

Amazing location and service. The little attention from the welcome by Victor and the little touches by all staff helped made the stay a wonderful experience for my wife and I.

HHanh LepetitWe are very happy with our stay at the Sofitel of Luang Prabang, very warm welcome from the arrival until our departure.
This is a very quiet and relaxing hotel with plenty of serene atmosphere, which we were looking forward to get during our stay. As it is a bit out of the city center with 5 minutes drive or 10 minutes by tuktuk, they do offer free shuttles from 6pm to 9:30pm to town or back.
Courteous staff, helpful and friendly people.
Breakfast is simple, not gargantuan, sufficient enough, they offer free 5 minutes massage when you arrive for breakfast if you desire to have one…
The pool and garden are beautiful and well maintained.
All in all, good values and good vibes from this place, we will return and recommend it to our friends to go.
GGuest UserIt's okay for the price~ I liked the balcony.
The bathroom and toilet are separate.
It's not completely clean, and you have to take that into account because it's an old building. The location is a bit far from the night market, but you can walk there, and I rented a scooter, so it wasn't difficult to get around.

YYatianerThe hotel is a bit of a distance from the Luang Prabang night market street, about 2 kilometers. I walk pretty fast, so it takes me about 20 minutes to get there. Walking back in the morning, the streetlights are quite dim and there are very few pedestrians. However, once I arrived, checked in, and opened the door, I saw a swimming pool and a bar, with a direct river view room right opposite. It’s a great spot to just sit and daydream. Maybe it wasn't peak season in Luang Prabang, as it was just me and one foreigner. He was living there long-term and even learning Chinese. We didn't interact much. I slept very well and left the next day. The room interior and bedding were pretty standard. The river view opposite was indeed very nice.

GGuest UserReally enjoyed our one night stay . Location is excellent off main market street and nice and quiet .
Easy to get to but not suitable for travelers with a lot of luggage as no vehicle access in small walkway however easy if you have backpack or light luggage. Access however by tuktuk ok.
Room clean and beautiful with amazing hot large shower. The manager so helpful and attentive with a good local knowledge. Breakfast choices great and fresh especially the ‘warm french bread’.
Will return again next trip to this amazing little town . A Gem.

WWeaver328442Although this hotel is not located in the town of Luang Prabang, it takes 20 minutes by tuk-tuk (the road is not very good), this should be the most special hotel in the world. I especially experienced the tent room, and it was definitely a unique experience to fall asleep every day listening to the sound of the river. The food in the hotel comes from its own organic farm, and there are many projects to experience. This is definitely a good place to escape from the world. The hotel has a shuttle bus to the center of Luang Prabang.
GGuest UserProbably the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Avoid thunder
On the first day of check-in, we were asked if we wanted to participate in the New Year's Eve event and dinner, which cost 120 US dollars per person. After we clearly refused, the waiter said that we had to ask the manager for approval. ? ? Even said that some guests would pay even if they did not participate in the event. Very outrageous.
The hotel is a historical building. It is understandable that some hardware facilities cannot be renovated, but it is really hard to understand that small appliances such as hair dryers cannot be equipped with a better one, but the low-power hair dryers of hotels that cost three or four hundred yuan.
There is basically no service awareness. The local restaurant and Mekong River night tour were booked through the hotel, claiming that they were booked, but when we arrived at the place, the other party said that there was no reservation record... This is the first time I have encountered such an unreliable one.
The breakfast options are also relatively simple, with a fixed menu ordering system every day. It was basically repeated on the third day. I ordered Lao Green Tea on the menu, but what was brought up was Twinings tea bag green tea...
When leaving the hotel, my friend took the hotel's change bag to put dirty clothes (a cloth bag), but when he checked out and arrived at the train station, he was told to return the laundry bag. We left our old clothes and shoes in the hotel, and no waiter asked if they were personal belongings left behind.
