The most honest review you’ll read on Beyond Kata. I booked Beyond Kata after weeks of research, swayed by its beachside location, high price (the highest in the area), and glowing reviews. I thought, why not treat myself to the “best”? Big mistake. 👉 If you’re still deciding, book another resort now. There are stunning properties with sea views nearby that cost less than a premium room here. The welcome at reception was warm, and while check-in was slow, it was smooth. The property is maintained, but definitely dated. For the price, it falls short of expectations, especially if you’re used to Asian standards of premium hospitality. This hotel clearly caters more to Western tourists, for whom “expensive” is just mid-budget. We booked a premier room and requested to be moved just a few rooms up for a partial sea view, something we paid for, and they refused, despite the hotel not being fully booked. Small gestures like this make guests feel valued. Sadly, not here. The staff were polite but not proactive. At the poolside bar, I asked for a lighter and was flatly told they had none, not even a matchbox. No effort to help, which felt disappointing. And then, the real letdown: the beach. Crowded, noisy, dirty. Plastic bags, fishing nets, and rope floated in the water. My heart sank thinking of how much we’d paid to sit by a polluted sea. The hotel’s photos of sunbeds on the beach are misleading, those belong to local vendors, not the hotel. We didn’t even bother swimming after the first day. Outside the hotel, the main street is lively with plenty of restaurants, bars, and even a night market that caters to most food preferences, Thai, Indian, Italian, you name it. But be warned: everything right outside the hotel is priced up for tourists staying in “fancy” resorts. Walk just a little further down the road or off the main strip, and you’ll find authentic, much better-value food and drink. This is worth knowing if you don’t want to overspend every meal. In hindsight, if we’d stayed at Chanalai Garden Resort, Andaman Cannacia, or Orchidea Resort, we’d have enjoyed gorgeous hilltop views of the beach, quieter pools, and better value overall. Final verdict: - For Asian travelers expecting premium hospitality at a premium price - avoid. - For anyone else, paying extra just to be near a crowded, polluted beach simply isn’t worth it. ✅ The only redeeming factor: the beds and rooms were genuinely lovely. TL;DR: Overpriced, dated, staff not proactive, polluted beach, tourist-trap dining nearby. Better-value resorts with views and pools exist just up the hill.

The hotel is very clean and well-maintained, and the staff are genuinely kind and helpful. Hygiene and overall presentation are excellent. However, I wouldn’t consider this a true five-star hotel — it feels more like a solid four-star. The view from the room was disappointing, as it doesn’t overlook the street or any scenery, which was a real letdown. Also, some basic amenities were missing, such as a shaving kit and toothbrush. Another thing that bothered me was the towel policy – there are only two towels in the room, and to get new ones, you first have to return the used ones.

The hotel is clean. A few restaurants nearby and a 7-11. It takes about 7 minutes to get to the beach. Good value hotel, but you need a moped or car. The staff is really friendly. There is a mosque right next door, which is lovely. Deluxe room, downstairs.

We found this hotel to be an exceptional value. The stunning view of the beach provides a perfect backdrop for a truly quiet and relaxing stay. We never had trouble finding a spot by the pool, as there were always plenty of comfortable sun loungers available. The staff's service was fantastic, and while the breakfast was simple, it was delicious and more than enough to start our day. The hotel's location is also a major plus—everything you need, from restaurants and a night market to shopping and convenience stores, is just a short walk away. Plus, it’s a quick and easy 15-20 minute taxi ride to Patong beach.

They refund and cancel policy is tricky. They didn’t refund my money when I booked for 3 nights but I wanted to cancel it 2 weeks before. They even didn’t accept that I pay for the first night and cancel the second and third night or even 1 night refund. It’s not fair I stayed there for a night but I didn’t want to stay there more because I didn’t like it. They didn’t accomodate my needs and didn’t address the issue properly. I ended up paying 3 nights although I didn’t want to stay there even a night. I checked in and checked out for a night but paid for 3 nights because if their strict refund policy. I hope they can address the issue asap.

The hotel is very nice and stylish. It was a good value for the price. We had nice room with acces to the pool. The room was clean and big enough for us. TIt could have better tv inside that would be nice to have especially because unfortunately was raining a lot during our stay but thats not hotel issue. The breakfast was ok. There are a lot of stores nearby and restaurants also some bars. If you want to go to the beach you need to take motorbike that they also rent there so thats nice. The sea is actually very near the hotel but i dont recommend swimming there. The hotel has also washing machine that guest can use and a good affordable laundry service. To sum up, we had pleasant stay and not much more to say there.

Excellent Stay in a Spacious, Modern Room I recently stayed in one of the new rooms located approximately 300 meters at the rear of the resort. The room was impressively spacious and well-appointed, featuring a large, comfortable bed with clean, fresh bedding. A notable highlight was the generously sized balcony, perfect for relaxing outdoors. The breakfast buffet offered good value for money, with a wide selection of healthy and well-prepared options. The resort also boasts several swimming pools, including one of a decent size suitable for proper swimming. However, it’s worth noting that the pool water appeared to be heavily chlorinated. The only drawback was the bathroom, particularly the toilet, which was surprisingly small—more suited to a child than an adult. This design oversight could be a significant issue across the many rooms in the new block. Despite this minor inconvenience, the overall experience was very positive, and I would highly recommend the resort for its comfort, facilities, and excellent value.

I first discovered Sawasdee Village by chance while walking around in the evening, and the atmosphere absolutely amazed me. It felt like a hidden oasis in the middle of the tourist chaos, so I decided to plan my next trip around staying here. The room itself was small but cozy and very clean, although a bit old and in need of some renovation. I had read about this in reviews beforehand, so I was prepared for it and booked only one night. Honestly, if the rooms were more modern, I would have gladly stayed for a week or longer. On the positive side, everything worked well: Wi-Fi was stable, the room was quiet, the bed was comfortable, and I loved the canopy and the ceiling with glowing stars. The view from my window overlooked the beautiful garden, and the room even had a humidifier with essential oils, which made it smell wonderful. The property is simply stunning — two pools, a spa, a restaurant, water bars, billiards and table football, as well as plenty of cozy corners to relax in. It was a delight to stroll through the lush garden, sit by the fountains, and swing on the hammocks. Breakfast was included and offered a generous buffet with many choices. In the room I also had a capsule coffee machine, bottled water, tea, bathrobes, slippers, toiletries, insect repellent, cookies, and even a flashlight — such thoughtful details. The staff were very kind and welcoming. They helped with my luggage and allowed me to check in 1.5 hours earlier since my room was ready. The location is also convenient, close to the beach and shops, and I loved the little foot shower at the entrance to wash off sand before entering the hotel. As for value — it’s a bit mixed. On the one hand, the unique atmosphere and privacy are worth the price. On the other hand, I noticed that within the same hotel, villas with direct pool access were actually cheaper than the room I booked (although when I reserved my room, the pool villas were more expensive). Still, I think Sawasdee Village is a special place, perfect for a relaxing stay — even for something as romantic as a wedding photoshoot

As a Japanese guest, I had a wonderful stay here! There were very few Asian guests, which really suited my travel style. The hotel has several pools and a perfect location. It’s true the hotel is on a very steep hill—it was tougher than I expected, so I mainly used motorbike taxis. Honestly, I think the slope could be dangerous for kids, elderly guests, or anyone not used to physical activity. But aside from that, everything was fantastic. I loved how peaceful it was without children around. The pool bar was great, and the overall atmosphere was perfect—I almost don’t want this place to become too famous! Most of the staff were very kind and friendly, though I did meet one chef and one waiter who seemed unfriendly. Luckily, other staff members made up for it with their warmth. At check-in, the young woman spoke English with a strong Thai accent, which was hard to understand. I recommend asking them politely to speak slowly—it helps a lot. At check-out, however, the staff member spoke very clear English and was extremely kind. Overall, this hotel was amazing! The few negatives didn’t matter at all. I will definitely come back again!

This resort has a beautiful pool area, and the front desk staff are friendly and helpful. It has decent facilities but they are in need of maintenance and repair. We were there during the wet season and the ceiling in the restaurant leaked in several places, soaking the chairs. They placed towels on the floor at the entrance to wipe off your feet every morning but didn’t change them all day, so they were usually waterlogged and filthy. There is a movie theatre for the kids, which is lovely, but the screen is a white tarpaulin which is too reflective, making it hard to watch. Breakfast is okay, but the bread is often stale, the fruit was not very fresh, and the coffee in the urn was just instant coffee. You can order proper coffee (cappuccino, espresso, etc) from the ice cream shop next to the restaurant area, and we discovered upon checkout that they didn’t charge us for this, but included it in the breakfast, which was great! But because they don’t advertise this, and because the ice cream shop appears closed until 10:00, most guests suffer through with instant coffee, not knowing there are other options. There are several bar areas where you should be able to order snacks and drinks and exchange towels, but they were never staffed, and it was hard to find anyone to help. There was an incident one night with an electrical fire at 3 AM and the staff who cleaned up the mess in front of our rooms did so with loud shouting conversations for over an hour, while pushing water loudly across the floor with shovels. The next morning, instead of offering an apology, the manager greeted us by asking when we were leaving, which seemed an odd and unprofessional way to initiate a conversation about guest satisfaction. The rooms smelled musty and dank, and housekeeping didn’t regularly clean the rooms and change towels, unless we specifically asked them to. They usually came to check the rooms in the evening when we were already getting into bed. The beach is beautiful but it is across the road and reaching it requires walking through an unattractive garbage-strewn field. There are lifeguards and they did a good job marking safe areas to swim, but the beach is not ideal for young children as there is a strong undertow. The kids loved the slides and the pool and overall we had a good stay, but unless this hotel receives some upgrading and better maintenance, we would not stay here again.

MMrV12341234LOVED our stay here and would recommend the place to others. See my below pros and cons. Pros: -the staff was very friendly. They all worked very hard to make sure the guests are happy. -The food was delicious (especially the curry’s). Everything is good except maybe some of the western things like the hamburgers. Stick with the Thai dishes. The breakfast buffet was slightly above average. -The rooms were very clean. No bugs. -They provided us a very nice crib for our nine month old -we never once heard our neighbors, or any guests, through the walls. -The ac worked great. -There is a free shuttle to old town Phuket each day (but see cons below on this). You can use the Bolt or Grab app to call a taxi. This is much cheaper than the on site taxi. -Free ride to and from the local beach (it’s not realistic to walk there because the road is too steep). -The beach is very quiet compared to most beaches in Phuket. There is a bar at the beach that serves all kinds of drinks. There are free beach chairs for you. If they are all taken the staff has large picnic mats for you to use (see below for negatives about the beach) -beach area has a small children’s playground. One of those plastic castle style climb / slide things. There is also two small football (soccer) goals and a volleyball net. -the beach is really nice in its own way. The sand and water is not as beautiful as other Phuket beaches, especially those on the west side, but the views of the nearby islands make it very serene and something the west side beaches don’t have. If you’re not coming to snorkel and see fish, it’s a good beach. There is also lots of shade if needed. -you get one free kayak rental per stay -The sheets in the room were changed every day and were very clean and comfortable -The hot water was really hot and never ran out. -our room had a mini fridge that worked great and had a little freezer section. -The pool is very clean, cool, and relaxing. You can order drinks right in the pool -The upper pool has an amazing view of the Thai islands. Make sure to get to the pool early (8-9am) and secure a chair or two if you plan to have a pool day. -speaking of the view, because you’re on the east side, there are many islands in the distance, making the view’s spectacular. The west side beaches you’re looking out into open ocean. Here you see mountains and hills in the distance. Cons: -they give your room 2 water bottles each day, but you’re stuck at the resort unless you hire a taxi. So we had to continually buy water from the desk or restaurant until we went out to the 7-11 (I recommend stopping at a convenience store on your taxi ride to the resort and stock up on water, drinks, snacks etc that you enjoy) -you have to get a taxi everywhere, even to a convenience store. -There is a small store on site that sells snacks, drinks, souvenirs, cigarettes, etc. but it was never open. We got really frustrated because our 9 month old uses water for his formula and we simply couldn’t get enough water, so we had to repeatedly ask to use the store and then a worker finally came and let us buy some water. -Our room did not have electric outlets next to the bed (could be a pro for some?). Actually, there was only one outlet in the room that was reasonably accessible to charge phones. (Plug outlets are multi purpose, had USA & Europe holes) -The snorkeling is terrible at the Supalai beach. Very murky and cloudy water (The tides are rather extreme here, hundreds of feet of shore line exposed), leaving a muddy/marsh like area at the beach each evening. We even did a day trip over to Naka Yai island and Nahka noi island and the snorkeling was also pointless because the water is so cloudy. If you plan to snorkel don’t stay in the east side. But if you just want to side by the shore, relax, and get in for a quick dip… the beach is ok. -No cloths line In Room to hang wet clothes / beach towels -the free shuttle into town only seats 11 people so you need to r

KKristy StridBeautiful resort, its huge! Lovely grounds & beautifully kept gardens, wonderful clean pools that cater for all age groups, right across the road from the beach for alternative beach/pool swims. A short 5 minute walk to the nearest shops, both beach side & behind locations,, 15 minute walk to Bangla Road. House keeping staff, like all we experienced in Phuket, are so kind & helpful. Overall such a lovely stay. Beautiful rooms with a lovely view. Breakfast was impeccable!

GGuest UserI believe it used to be a Six Senses resort. It's located on an island, just a five-minute speedboat ride away. The surroundings are absolutely breathtaking. The hotel truly embraces its natural environment, so be prepared to encounter wildlife like centipedes, insects, snakes, monkeys, and various small birds. I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking to completely unwind and relax at the property. However, the food variety at the hotel is somewhat limited, and there are virtually no other dining options on the island. Despite these points, it's still a great place overall.

AAnonymous UserAlthough the building of the hotel itself is considerably nice and new, the service really needs improvement. Almost all staffs were distant and did not give out a five star hotel kind of services. Birthday arrangement was honored, thank you to the team. The pool was very nice and the activities were varied. LluloveluThe hotel is better than what the comment says. Location wise, it depends on your travel style. If you are more of an explorer, I wouldn’t recommend this Hotel or location, because it’s kinda far from the main sites, and the nearest 711 is 800 meters away. But if you are looking for a relaxing beach/pool holiday, or come with kids I will strongly recommend the place. First the bfast is good, room is spacious, facilities was good, staff are polite. So nothing to complain about. Though I think there’s room for improvement for cleanliness, doesn’t mean it’s dirty, just some details are not fully covered. Given the price, I’ll say it does worth the money and would like to come back again.

GGuest UserThe experience is good overall. Though not beachfront, the hotel is a short walk to the beach. There are also a lot of shops and restaurants nearby. __WeChat229187****Overall positive review. The public areas are huge, and the environment is great with lush vegetation and small animals. The pool is beautiful, and you can access the sea directly from the back door. However, the sea view suite I booked was in building D, not a beachfront property, and it was a bit old. My room key failed twice. Also, there's no Chinese-speaking staff at the front desk.

NNikitaThe pool and the breakfast are good. We also had a nice town view. The room is controversial. We had to wait till exactly 14:00 to check in. We couldn't even check in at 13:58. The toilet is a joke. It has a big glass with a frosted part so you can see a silhouette of a person in the shower. The sliding door has a big gap so you can see a person sitting on a toilet through it. So there's no sound proof on the toilet and you can see and hear almost everything happening inside. I had to go to the first floor toilet to do my things. And water pipes are noisy and might start buzzing in the middle of the night. A few times we heard loud music somewhere in the hotel so we had to call the reception to solve the problem otherwise it was impossible to rest in the room. There also was dust somewhere in the room. I'm not sure I'll stay there again.
