Hotel near Wu Yi Square/Orange Island,Changsha
Beside Sujia Lane on Huangxing Road Pedestrian Street, a small red-brick building lies hidden. Before it stands an ancient statue that has gazed for a thousand years; inside, the memories of the Grain Bureau have settled for over half a century. Today, this rare Soviet-style red-brick building in Changsha is writing a brand‑new story for “Atour S.” A Dwelling Where Eras Meet Atour S Hotel, Changsha IFS Guojin Center Wuyi Square, is located at No. 36 Sujia Lane in the Baiguoyuan Historical and Cultural Block. Its predecessor was the office building of the Hunan Provincial Grain Bureau, first built in the 1950s. This three‑story red‑brick structure is a typical and rare example of Soviet‑style architecture in Changsha. It was listed as a Municipal Cultural Heritage Site in 2014 and selected as a “20th‑Century Chinese Architectural Heritage Site” in 2023. Nearby historical relics, such as the former printing site of Xiangjiang Review, give the area a rich cultural atmosphere. The Atour Group defines itself as “creating a sanctuary for body and mind.” Atour S is an upgraded line of Atour hotels – the “S” stands for “Special,” focusing on business travelers who seek quality living and offering premium experiences. The hotel fully preserves the building’s historic character and courtyard layout. Complete Amenities for the Ideal Business Stay The hotel offers various room types and facilities including a buffet breakfast (Xiang Zhao), a self‑service laundry (Chu Chen), a gym (Han Chu), the Zhu Ju reading space, and a small meeting room. The Atour S brand emphasizes the coexistence of art and practicality: public areas exude an artistic flair, while room design balances comfort with function, creating a gallery‑like visual experience and warm, home‑like service. “Zhu Ju” features a “flowing library” concept, offering a curated selection of books for guests to enjoy free of charge. “Chu Chen” laundry provides convenient clothing care for business travelers, continuing the Atour brand philosophy of being “humane, warm, and interesting.” Prime Location for Effortless Travel Located in the core commercial area of Changsha, the hotel offers outstanding convenience: 3‑minute walk to Huangxing Square Metro Station (Line 1) 5‑minute walk to IFS Guojin Center 5‑minute walk to Wuyi Square, Huangxing Road Pedestrian Street, and Pozijie Street Approx. 8‑minute drive to Orange Isle, Yuelu Mountain, and other Changsha landmarks Sujia Lane also preserves a statue of the great Song‑Dynasty writer Su Xun and the legend of “Laoquan Biejing” (a secluded path named after his literary name), creating a delightful contrast with the 1950s Soviet‑style red‑brick building. This quaint, tranquil yet downtown lane allows you to experience Changsha’s old‑city charm while plunging instantly into its modern bustle and convenience. Here, you will find the historical depth of a century‑old red‑brick building, the distinctive taste of Atour S, and the utmost central convenience of Changsha. Business travel and quality living – both are yours to enjoy.

"Facilities: Well-equipped, though the room was still a bit small despite the upgrade. Cleanliness: Staff would ask in the morning if cleaning was needed, and there was dedicated staff in the laundry room. Environment: It's a hotel converted from a grain hall, offering a quiet escape in a bustling area. Winding paths lead to secluded spots, with small pavilions nestled among lush greenery – very elegant. Service: Breakfast was plentiful, and there were afternoon tea snacks. Staff proactively introduced the dishes. Minibar: The room minibar contained water, Heytea beverages, Coke, and soda water. Shuttle Service: Provided pick-up and drop-off service at the entrance of Baiguoyuan Alley. Late-night Congee: Like other Atour hotels, they offer a late-night snack service. We also received a complimentary photography session from Weiyu Travel Photography, with each room getting 3 free professionally retouched photos. The photographer was punctual, patient, helped guests choose locations and poses, and with the hotel's small study, greenery, red brick walls, corridors, and pavilions, the photos turned out great."

"Wonderful stay! Everyone was really kind, organized both our airport pickup and the drop off back to the city for free (which we did not expect). And most importantly, spent time to design a one day itinerary for us so we could see the best parts of the park with limited time. The place is only a 5-10 minute walk to the entrance which was awesome! They also kindly upgraded us to the 360 degree view room, which was incredible. I posted the view from the terrace, really lovely to wake up to this view every morning. The one thing I would say is bring an eye mask. With all the lovely big windows it does get pretty bright early in the morning. It didn't bother us since we had to wake up early to visit the park. Overall I'd say it was perfect and pretty much everything we could've wanted"

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, providing attentive service. They offer free laundry service, which is fantastic – you don't have to worry about it yourself; your clean clothes are delivered right to your room. The breakfast was excellent and varied, with different dishes every day. The braised pork with preserved vegetables was delicious, and the dry-pot chicken was also exceptionally tasty. The chef was very kind and lovely. ❤️ The afternoon tea and late-night congee were also delicious and exquisitely prepared. Plus, the hotel is only a two-minute walk from the landmarks, which is super convenient! 👍

Great place to stay. Super modern amenities, everything goes seamless from the pickup service, check-in, and chatting with the staffs (you need Wechat). While this place is about 30 minutes away from downtown Zhangjiajie and Tianmen mountain cableway station, you can truly feel being at Zhangjiajie as you get to stay at a place that is surrounded by foggy mountains. Breakfast buffet is complimentary and pretty decent and other Chinese menu that you can order at the hotel restaurant are phenomenal. Overall, it was a great experience and I highly recommend this place to other travelers.

Getting to Orange Isle is super convenient; you can either walk across Xiangjiang Bridge or take the subway just one stop. It's also only about 3 stops to downtown areas like Wuyi Square. Environment: The surrounding area is a bit so-so, with a few construction sites, but it's very quiet. Service and hygiene were both excellent, making me feel right at home.

The room design is simple and the ambiance is great. I especially loved the night view with all the city lights. The hotel offers a free self-service laundry room, which is really convenient for longer trips. Located on Xiangjiang Middle Road, the hotel not only boasts fantastic window views but also an excellent location. It's close to Orange Isle, and there are various snack streets right behind it. Plus, it's only about a ten-minute walk to IFS, making shopping super convenient.

Host is a super nice guy and very helpful. He helps you book your tickets as well as with communication and he has many good tips for you. Usually people hang downstairs, there are also three cute cats. Usually people order food and have dinner together. You will easily meet fellow travelers here. The place is otherwise very basic and could need repairs and more frequent cleanups. But that is not the focus here. The hostel is also close to the starting point to Tianmen mountain. PS: The package for the avatar mountains has hiked to 450 RMB including cablecars and elevator (you can use the ticket on 4 consecutive days). 12 RMB to take the bus to its south gate. You need two days to finish the avatar mountains. Then one more day for Tianmen mountain. Another day for the canyon, if you want.

I can’t recommend this place enough! Where do I even start? The location is unbeatable—so close to the main gate of the Avatar Mountains. Our room was incredibly comfortable and came with a great view, with every amenity we could possibly need. But the absolute cherry on top was the marvelous owner. She helped us customize an itinerary based on the exact amount of time we had. She was also incredibly thoughtful regarding my mom’s age (64yo), planning a route so she could fully enjoy the breathtaking views without having to walk too much (which was a lifesaver since the park is massive!). We followed it to the letter and we had the best experience! Don’t think It twice! You won’t regret booking this place! Thank you so much; without your help, we wouldn't have enjoyed the park nearly as much as we did. I would stay here again in a heartbeat! Gracias ☺️

Booked this hotel by chance, and it was pretty clean. The hot water came out fast and had good pressure, and the air conditioning was excellent. The rice noodles for breakfast were delicious, definitely worth trying – much better than the Zhou Ji noodles (my personal opinion), which were a complete mess. One minor issue: the toilet splashed water when you sat on it. On the bright side, the subway station is right on the -1 floor, making transportation very convenient.

For the view of the mountains, this stay is so awesome. If you mainly want to see the Zhangjiajie National Park, I really recommend this hotel. For me, I underestimated the amount of time it would take to get to Wulingyuan and Zhangjiajie city. It was a little inconvenient for me because I had to call taxis if I wanted to go out to eat and it was kind of far. A lot of taxi drivers would ask me for a tip because the location was difficult to reach. Apart from the location issue, I really enjoyed my stay. The breakfast was delicious, the staff were so accommodating and kind and even drove me to Zhangjiajie city on my last day. The dogs were so cute and the view of the mountains was stunning. If you want a perfect getaway from the city and stunning views, then this is the place for you. If you want to hangout in the more lively places, it might be kind of a hassle. This hotel is perfect for those who want a peaceful and relaxing getaway.

I genuinely recommend the Xiangjiang Hotel! The interior environment is serene, and the retro decorations everywhere are very unique. The afternoon tea offers a rich variety of fruits and desserts. The guest rooms are meticulously cleaned daily, and the butler, Duo Duo, was incredibly responsive to any needs Xiao Xiong had. Next time I'm in Changsha, I'll definitely stay here again.

This stay was truly excellent! The hotel's location is superb, making it very convenient for getting around by taxi or public transport, and there are plenty of dining options and shopping centers nearby. The room was spotless, with great ventilation and natural light. All the in-room amenities were complete and in perfect working order, and both the hot water and air conditioning functioned smoothly. The front desk staff were gentle, friendly, efficient, and provided thoughtful and attentive service. The hotel environment was quiet and peaceful, ensuring a really good night's sleep. Overall, it offers fantastic value for money, making it suitable for both leisure travel and business trips. I honestly recommend everyone to stay here.
