"Hotel is very clean with a beautiful lobby area. The rooftop pool and bar offers great views of the lotus tower and the sunset over the ocean. However the rooms have a bad odour probably due to humidity or lack of ventilation. The bed linen isn’t very clean with stains on the covers and sheets."

"My overall experience at the hotel was excellent. The price fully matches the quality of the services provided. The staff were very polite, attentive, and professional, creating a truly welcoming atmosphere.

"This was my second stay at Cinnamon Grand. My first experience was excellent. This time, I checked in late, and since the rooms in the usual section were full, I was assigned a room on the other side. The facilities there felt noticeably older, the hairdryer was broken, and the bathroom was smaller than in the other section. Furthermore, the cleanliness was poor – there were clumps of hair and a dead cockroach, and no slippers were provided. It felt like the two sections of the hotel had different standards for room upkeep. Since it was late when I checked in and I was only staying for two nights, I decided not to ask the hotel to change my room. If you're staying here, I recommend choosing a room accessed via the front desk entrance, rather than the one next to the pastry shop. I hope the hotel can improve the standards of these rooms.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. During check-in, there was a system issue, and I was initially assigned two double rooms. The staff member then had to check four different rooms to find a correct single room for me. I really appreciate their effort.
The hotel is a 15-minute walk from the beach. However, it's quite a distance from the artificial harbor and the shopping mall, so it's best to take a tuk-tuk."

"Weeds growing outside my window as well as black mold. Not five star. After asking where we could get a light breakfast,we finally found a coffee place in the basement after two days.We ordered room service as the only other option was a buffet at $16 per person. Having made Christmas dinner reservations,we didn't want to ordere a buffet breakfast.The buffet Christmas dinner was of good quality food well prepared . The problem was everything was cold and the people at the carving stations didn't know how to carve. At $90 for a couple it was a waste. Give the hotel a generous 3 stars.."

"Nice rooms, good location, and the staff was very friendly. Good business hotel, but also good for couples and families.
Although the booking said ”ocean view”, didn't get a ”full ocean view” room. However, there was a nice view of the city and a partial view of the ocean which was unobstructed. Standard cleanliness and amenities. You have to specifically tell the housekeeping team if you want the bed linens changed. Wi-Fi is a bit jittery and requires you to log in every day for some weird reason, but speed is okay too.
Breakfast buffet is nice with a standard spread of local vs continental. Egg hoppers are a bliss, and they'll make yours fresh every morning. Food at the restaurant/lounge is average, but they make a good Long Island Ice Tea at the bar. I was unable to attend breakfast as I had an early flight, requested the front desk to swap out the breakfast for a club sandwich at 3am, they were able to do that. The staff are overall nice and friendly, except for one guy at the reception who for some reason took 1000LKR for a replacement key and didn't want to give me a receipt for it. They also didn't give me a hotel invoice during check-out and said I will have to collect it from Trip.com. While I do have the invoice from Trip.com I found it as standard practice in most other hotels to share a copy of the invoice during checkout."

"We had a pleasant stay at this hotel. The location is okey, making it easy to explore the surrounding area. We appreciated being upgraded to a higher floor, which was a thoughtful gesture and made our stay feel a bit more special.
The amenities are decent, and the buffet breakfast offers a wide variety of options, which we enjoyed. However, service could be improved — after finishing breakfast, we wanted to have a coffee from the machine, but were informed that it would be charged extra, even though breakfast was included in our booking. This felt a bit disappointing and could have been handled more thoughtfully.

The staff were extremely helpful and went out of their way to ensure a comfortable stay. The breakfast offered a great variety of options, catering to different tastes and dietary preferences. From fresh fruits to hot dishes, everything was delicious and well-prepared. The overall ambiance of the hotel was pleasant, and the amenities were top-notch. I highly recommend this hotel for both business and leisure travelers. It’s a great value for the money, and I would definitely stay here again!

CCJ12A beautiful building in a very pleasant area of Colombo; the architecture and interior design of the hotel are a joy to behold and the vast majority of staff are polite and courteous. Plenty of amenities nearby to suit all tastes and interests. The breakfasts were great both mornings (both the Sri Lankan breakfast and the Western style), and they really lived up to the high expectations we’d had from the Instagram marketing we’d seen.
We were upgraded to the North West Suite, which was a larger room, for which we were greatly appreciative; a couple of issues with working plugs and appliances (coffee machine and hair dryer) were reported and rectified, although the wiring/plugs more broadly were temperamental and poorly placed (as expected, possibly, with the charm of an older hotel). However, the bed was comfortable, the hotel was quiet, and the bathroom was well appointed.
Our only qualm was with the overzealous Head of Housekeeping, who seemed to not grasp the subtlety required for such a role, or the privacy with which guests might like to enjoy the beautiful hotel. It appeared that he lingered all too often in search of a tip, and didn’t quite appreciate the boundaries one might desire when paying a reasonable fee for each night. My wife and I took to speedily locking the door and placing the ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign on the handle to keep his incessant interrupting to a minimum. His deputy was, however, an asset to the hotel, who seemed to comprehend the subtle art of providing high quality service for a luxury stay in a lovely hotel.
All-in-all, a great choice for a hotel in the heart of Colombo, and hopefully, during a busier season, the aforementioned Head of Housekeeping might spread his overbearing attention across the many rooms of the hotel.

Despite a very good start which involved a very helpful early check-in for our group of four travelers (two rooms) and lots of friendly smiles from the hotel reception team, unfortunately our stay took a bit of a negative turn owing to some confusion over two additional bookings we had made to extend our stay following a change in our plans. I really find it hard to understand why this simple process caused confusion to the duty manager. The following day, despite clearly explaining that we had made additional bookings to extend our stay, the desk staff were confused and claimed that one of the room bookings was not confirmed. The duty manager was dismissive to us and actually ignored us, (even though he had perfectly good English to communicate with us), preferring to speak through another member of the reception team who was standing right next to him. After a wait of at least 15 minutes, I told him that we were not prepared to wait any longer and that he could let us know once the issue had been resolved. This was clearly an administrative problem between the hotel and Trip.com which soured our stay. The duty manager was unprofessional and discourteous towards his guests.
Our experience left us unwilling to use any of the hotel facilities other than the breakfast buffet. The breakfast buffet was very good and the staff team exceptional in their service and friendliness. We did use the lounge bar on one occasion and again, found the staff to be friendly and helpful - special mention to Jerushan, with whom we enjoyed a great conversation. He is a credit to the staff team. Perhaps given his people skills, he should be made a manager?!
Other than the reception area, the hotel is very tired and in desperate need of an upgrade. In our room, a light switch cover fell off, some bulbs were not working and the room was dirty - a build up of dust in the corners and on the wardrobe louvres which quite obviously suggested the rooms were only being given a superficial clean.
As said, we do not recommend this hotel and we will not stay here again. We expect far from a Ramada branded establishment.

SSandraVisited Colombo during off-peak season so we managed to visit the city with less crowd. Views from any sea-facing room is incredible for its price - slight blocking with 2 towers in front but you can get a better unblocked view if you go for Premium tier rooms. I have to commend reception staff Anjala, who managed upsell me a Premium Seaview Room from a Superior Seaview Room. He took the time to explain the differences between each tier, accommodated to my budget constraints, and brought me to each room (empty ones of course) for a viewing before committing to an upgrade. After hearing that I was there on honeymoon (my husband would only arrive later), he relayed that to the rest of the team who took care of us wonderfully throughout our 4-day stay. Overall, room is clean and roomy, perfect for business calls with fast and reliable in-room wifi. Only downside is their TV doesn't have Netflix or Airplay, only Miracast for Android/Windows users. Tip for travellers: tell your driver this used to be Movenpick hotel - they will know where to drop you off.

TTaya DotsThe hotel was probably once gorgeous, now it's just not bad. The furniture is old, the walls are shabby, some things (like switches) could be wiped more thoroughly. But overall the impressions were positive. The breakfasts are hearty, the bed and bed are comfortable, the pool is simply gorgeous. True, on weekends locals come to swim, for an additional price. And on weekdays it is quiet and calm, you can wait a very long time for your drink from the employee. There is a railway next to the hotel, trains run all day, you won't get much sleep during the day, but at night there are no trains, nothing will interfere with your sleep.

YYISUSHANThe price is generally acceptable, and the location is quite convenient. As for other aspects, it's just okay. The service, however, is very warm and welcoming. The room itself is quite old-fashioned, so if that's a concern for you, you might want to look at other options. Everything else is pretty much fine.
