"I stayed here for 3 nights on a solo trip. The reception staff were very kind and lent me towels and a hairdryer. It was also really fun sharing a room with people from various countries, not just tourists, but also those on working holidays looking for jobs. I was a little worried about bugs. Of course, there were small insects flying around outside, but the room and shower room were fine. It was a great trip! Thank you."

"Choosing The Benson Hotel for my Cairns trip was a brilliant decision! The location is absolutely superb – super close to the airport, just about a 15-minute taxi ride. It’s also only a 10-minute walk to the Lagoon Pool and the Marina, making it incredibly convenient for an evening stroll along the waterfront to the pool for a swim, or heading to the Marina to catch the sunset.
The surrounding area is incredibly well-equipped too: right outside the hotel, you’ll find a huge variety of restaurants, from local seafood specialties to Asian cuisine, so you can try something new every day. There’s also a large supermarket nearby, perfect for grabbing fruits, snacks, or travel essentials. Shopping here gets full marks!
The hotel rooms are spacious and bright, with all the amenities you could need, including air conditioning, making it feel just as comfortable as home. The front desk service was exceptionally thoughtful and attentive; they patiently recommended nearby attractions and restaurants, and any issues were resolved quickly.
In short, this stay far exceeded my expectations. I will definitely choose The Benson Hotel again on my next visit to Cairns! I highly recommend it to anyone looking for convenient travel and comfortable accommodation – you won’t be disappointed!"

"The room was very clean. However, I can hear a lot of noise in the next room, probably because the walls are a little thin. I woke up around 3 o'clock in the middle of the night with the sound of the shower in the next room.
It took about 40 minutes to walk to the center of Cairns. It was hard to walk in the hot sun, but it was a good exercise.
It was good that everyone in Pront was polite. Even before check-in, he was willing to keep his luggage and arranged a taxi."

"The location is fantastic! Walking everywhere was absolutely no problem, and there were plenty of restaurants nearby. Naturally, the price is mid-to-high range for that convenience, but if you're staying for two nights or more, I'd definitely recommend it, considering how much easier it makes getting around during your trip.
Just a heads-up for anyone reading this review:
I actually wanted to drop off my luggage before joining a tour, so I contacted them beforehand via Trip.com's online chat. They told me the baggage storage hours were 8 AM to 8 PM. However, when I arrived on the day, I was told it was a holiday, and the hours were actually 9 AM to 6 PM, which honestly put me in a bit of a bind.
That said, the staff were incredibly kind. They explained exactly how to check in and how to get into my room after the tour. When I arrived at my room, my luggage was already there. I'm not sure if that's standard practice, but I was really touched by their thoughtfulness."

"Staying at the DoubleTree by Hilton Cairns for 3 nights across two rooms, I genuinely feel it offers exceptional value for money!
Upon arrival at the front desk for check-in, we were immediately greeted with warm chocolate chip cookies. Having just gotten off the plane and feeling a bit hungry, it was such a welcoming touch. The front desk staff was incredibly friendly and thoughtfully arranged for our rooms to be on the same floor, which was incredibly convenient for traveling with elderly parents and children.
The rooms themselves were clean and tidy, with good views and scenery. Breakfast was fresh with a wide variety of choices, and the service staff were all very friendly. Downstairs, there's a restaurant and a ping-pong table, which our kids absolutely loved playing with. Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to try the swimming pool.
Its location is another huge plus:
Right across the street is the aquarium, and it's just a 5-minute walk to the beach. Walking to the marina for boat trips takes about 10–15 minutes, making it convenient to get everywhere.
Overall, the experience was fantastic. For family travelers, this is absolutely the perfect choice!"

Highly recommend everyone to stay in Heritage Cairns. The staff was responsive to our night arrival and everything was pretty smooth. The rooms were clean and the WiFi connection is stable too.
The staff kindly arranged a suitable room for my mum who was not good at walking. Moreover, the staff let us use the shower room with towel and amenities even we had already checked out that day. Many thanks for their hospitality!"

Pros:
Great location – less than a 5-minute walk to the night market, which was super convenient. The reception area is gorgeous and makes a great first impression. Toiletries were excellent – good quality and not locked away like in some other hotels, and they smelled really nice. The rainforest shower was a standout – absolutely loved it. The rooftop bar is a vibe, with $9 margaritas and tacos, which was a great bonus.
Cons:
The room had a musty smell, and there was no window to let in fresh air, which made it feel quite closed in. The sink trap also had a strong unpleasant smell, and the cushions in the room didn’t smell fresh either. We booked for 4 people, but housekeeping only provided 2 towels daily, so we had to request more every day. The pool is quite small, and the chlorine levels seemed very high – it irritated and burned our eyes, and we ended up having to visit a pharmacy.

GQkimiGreat location, just across the road from the beachfront promenade. I really loved the modern, minimalist style of the hotel. However, room cleaning needs improvement. The Asian woman at the front desk was very cold and gave me a low-floor room, claiming all rooms were full. Later, I realized that Asian guests were generally assigned to lower floors. 😤

The hotel's convenient location also means it's just a 10-minute walk to the cruise terminal and very close to the waterfront promenade, which is great for a stroll. The hotel's own bar is super chill, with live music in the evenings – perfect for a drink and a chat.

Guest UserAlthough the hotel has been open for a while, the rooms are well-maintained and don't look old or dated. It's only about a 5-minute walk to the Reef Fleet Terminal, which is really convenient for taking a cruise to the Great Barrier Reef – you can even sleep in a bit longer in the morning!
Since breakfast wasn't included with the room, we added it for two days when we checked in. It was around $40-something per person. I have to say, the breakfast was pretty mediocre, both in terms of variety and taste. Even the tables and chairs weren't as well-kept as the rooms; the chair I sat on was wobbly.
Overall, the hotel is pretty good. The location is convenient, and the rooms are comfortable. There's a decent Italian restaurant on the way to the terminal too.

I had a lovely stay at Mercure Cairns. The hotel was in a great location, making it easy to get around the city and explore nearby attractions. Guest UserWe stayed here for a couple of nights. The staff were very welcoming and always willing to help with anything, which was a real positive — truly 5-star service from the team.
Unfortunately, the housekeeping was disappointing. Some cups in the room had lipstick marks on them, and the shower gel bottles appeared to be mostly filled with water rather than gel, although this was rectified immediately after mentioning this to the reception.
The hotel is about a 20-minute walk into town. There is also a bus stop near the hospital with a bus running roughly every hour. The hotel provides a shuttle service to the center, but it only operates at 8:30 AM, 9:30 AM, 4:00 PM, and 4:30 PM, so the schedule is somewhat limited.
There aren’t many dining options nearby other than the hotel restaurant, and the food there was not particularly good. Your best option is to head into town, where there are plenty of restaurants to choose from.
The hotel itself feels quite dated and could benefit from renovations. For example, the hairdryer was broken, the sink was cracked, and the shower looked old and worn.
On the positive side, the sheets and towels were clean, and pool/beach towels are provided. The pool/Jacuzzi is clean. Overall, I would recommend staying here and an very happy with my stay.

Hygiene: I booked the hotel for a total of 4 nights. The first night, it wasn't a sea-view room, but the room was quite spacious, and the large bed was comfortable enough. However, I kept feeling like the pillows had an odor, perhaps due to foreigners' body odor. I eventually called service and had all four pillows replaced, which helped a bit and I was able to sleep. On the second day, I paid an additional 80 AUD to upgrade to a sea-view room. In the end, I really felt it was worth booking a sea-view room; the visual impact and experience are so important. Plus, perhaps because of the sunlight, the room felt fresh and smelled pleasant. You know what I mean, haha.
Location: The hotel is located in the heart of Cairns. Right outside, you'll find the ticket center for boat tours, making it super convenient to get your tickets and head straight to the pier. The night market and the Esplanade are just a short walk away. I was particularly surprised and impressed that the bus was free, haha.
Facilities: The hotel was very thoughtful and human-centric, providing four bath towels in the bathroom. These were perfect for taking with us when we went out on a boat trip!

Great hotel at a great price. Big, clean room with a lovely balcony overlooking the pool and garden. The pool was also great and refreshing.
Walking distance to all restaurants and major shops.
They make good coffee in the hotel bar too!
They don’t clean your room for stays of less than 7 nights, but we were able to get clean towels daily if we wanted them.
Friendly staff and overall a great home for us while we visited Cairns!

The facilities are too poor. I live on the first floor and found that the blinds were not closed tightly at night, so all the light leaked in. The lights in the yard were so bright that I couldn't sleep all night.
