"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 We had a wonderful stay at Ten Hill Place Hotel and would happily stay here again on our next visit to Edinburgh. The location is excellent—situated in a quiet area while still being within easy walking distance of the Royal Mile, Edinburgh Castle, the University of Edinburgh, and many great restaurants and cafés. It was the perfect base for exploring the city. The room was modern, spacious, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable. The bed was especially comfortable, and we had a great night’s sleep. Everything was well maintained, and the room had all the amenities we needed. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and professional throughout our stay. Check-in and check-out were quick and efficient, and everyone was happy to help with any questions we had. Overall, Ten Hill Place Hotel offers excellent value for money, combining a fantastic location, comfortable rooms, and outstanding service. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Edinburgh and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again."

"Booked a city view room on Trip.com, but got an inner-facing room with no view. However, the Chinese lady at the front desk was excellent! She patiently explained everything, tried her best to coordinate a change, and even enthusiastically recommended local attractions and restaurants. Even though the room couldn't be changed after all 🤣, the service was outstanding. The bar and restaurant staff were also very friendly, and the complimentary breakfast was absolutely delicious 👍"

"Stayed 2 nights at The Scholar and appreciated its location for access to the city (The Royal Mile) and to walk up Arthur’s Seat (note we are walkers).  Room was spacious and although it did not have a fridge the front desk sorted this out for us (at no extra charge).  The hotel has a lovely area outside to sit and have breakfast, coffee or evening drinks. We were given complementary access to a gym closer to the city but there is also a basic one on the grounds.  There is also parking on-site.  Staff were really friendly and helpful - thank you for an enjoyable stay! "

Blending perfectly into the historic surroundings of the Royal Mile, Hilton Edinburgh Carlton is an iconic element of the city. The building dates back to the 1900s and is part of the impressive North Bridge which links Edinburgh’s Old and New town together, giving you easy access to countless shopping, dining, and entertainment. Our modern rooms offer complimentary WiFi, ergonomic work areas, and Suite Dreams by Serta® beds with luxurious linens. Select an executive room or suite for extra space and amenities, including access to the Executive Lounge, with complimentary breakfast and refreshments throughout the day. For an indulgent afternoon tea and a vast bar menu, pop into Nineteen Hundred Bar & Lounge. Twenty-four-hour room service is also available. Work in the business center with secretarial services and complimentary WiFi before re-energizing in the hotel’s fitness room. Hilton Edinburgh Carlton features seven meeting rooms, all located on the first floor with natural daylight. Host an informal reception for up to 300 guests or a wedding for up to 180, with panoramic city views as a breathtaking backdrop. The feature staircase creates some of the best wedding photography in the city.

"The overall experience didn't live up to the price. For a luxury king room costing over 3000 a night, the path to our room was ridiculous: first up to the second floor, then down to the basement (-1 floor), passing through a total of six doors, four of which were tiny, only to be given a room at the very end of the hallway. When I tried to sort this out at the front desk, the hotel's excuse was that they had no other rooms available that day! Yet, I found the exact same room type still listed on three different booking platforms. Even the Trip.com agent insisted there were no rooms, which is hard to believe if it's listed on three separate sites – if it was just one, I might understand it being taken down. On check-out day, due to the incredibly small lobby, we waited for the elevator for a good 10-20 minutes, only to find no available elevators we could fit into. My child and I ended up having to carry our large suitcases down the stairs! Aside from all this, when I tried to change rooms, the 'Chinese courtesy' they advertise (Trip.com should really amend this) was non-existent. There was merely a person who spoke Chinese, or more accurately, a Chinese person who acted like a European. When I mentioned at the front desk that the room didn't match the photos and felt like false advertising, this 'Chinese' staff member actually got upset. Shouldn't a guest be allowed to point out discrepancies between the booking and the actual experience? The way the front desk staff looked at me, their facial expression, and tone of voice, were completely unacceptable for a hotel costing over 3000 a night."

"The hotel is relatively close to the airport, but the walk can be a bit challenging if you're dragging luggage. It's quite quiet, and they provided two complimentary bottles of mineral water. There's an elevator, and the service was friendly. Even after paying online, they still require a 50-pound deposit, but it was refunded quickly."

The service was truly exceptional. My first stay was in Manchester, and the overall ambiance of the hotel was fantastic. My girlfriend and I really enjoyed it. So, when we saw that this apartment was available in Edinburgh as well, we didn’t hesitate to book it.🤩The Edinburgh Castle can be seen from the hotel’s entrance, and the street scene next to the hotel is also quite beautiful.

The location of this hotel is just on the border of the city centre, so it feels a lot quieter compared to right on the High Street. My room was a windowless Queen Room, with plenty of storage space for 2 people.  I quite like the design of the room, where 1 side of the room is the washing facilities. Unfortunately, the night when I stayed, there were many loud door slamming during the night.  I've got woken up many times. I had the breakfast downstairs at around 9:30am, and it closes at 10am.  The hot food was very dry, so probably been sitting around for some time.  If I stay here again, I would go elsewhere for breakfast.

The location is fantastic! It's just a 4-minute walk from the train station, and there's a large shopping mall right downstairs, making one-stop shopping super convenient. Victoria, the manager at the front desk, was incredibly warm and helpful. When she learned we weren't happy with our room's orientation, she specially reserved a room for us on our next booking, giving us a wonderful view that really lifted our spirits. The downsides are that the bathroom is really tiny; there's no space for toiletries. Also, housekeeping response time is extremely slow, over half an hour. Plus, the pillows are very high and uncomfortable, giving me a stiff neck!

This hotel, nestled at the foot of Calton Hill, was the perfect summer escape. It's incredibly convenient for exploring Calton Hill and other attractions, including the train station. Just across the road, there's a John Lewis department store, making it a quiet oasis right in the heart of things. The rooms are spacious, and I loved that there were plenty of outlets for charging all my devices 😅. Before heading out for a Highlands tour, I grabbed some water, chocolates, and snacks from the small shop opposite the Reception, which was super convenient. The staff were patient and helpful, which I really appreciated. Next time I'm in Edinburgh, I definitely want to try the hotel's 1802 restaurant, I've heard good things about it. Plus, the seating area right outside the hotel entrance was great for resting and managing luggage. 👍

Without doubt, this was one of our finest hotel stays in recent memory. From the moment we arrived, Novotel Edinburgh set the tone with a level of warmth and professionalism that genuinely stood out. The staff were incredibly helpful throughout and what really demonstrated this was a small but telling moment: we lost our key card during the stay, and it was replaced immediately, without any fuss or inconvenience whatsoever. It's the kind of effortless service that puts you completely at ease, and it's something you remember long after checkout. The breakfast deserves a special mention — it was simply top notch. The spread was so good that holding back was near impossible, and it's the kind of breakfast that makes you actually look forward to the morning. Freshly prepared, well-stocked, and served with care — it's one of the best hotel breakfasts we've had. The location is outstanding. Sitting just a mile from Edinburgh Castle, you're right in the heart of one of the most iconic cities in the UK. Public transport couldn't be more convenient either  buses are accessible right behind the hotel, making it incredibly easy to get around the city without needing a car at all. The one area that needs addressing is parking. The hotel's own car park is frequently full, which meant we had to use the nearby NCP instead. To the hotel's credit, they did provide a discount for the NCP - a thoughtful gesture that softened the inconvenience. However, it's worth noting for electric vehicle drivers: the EV charging at the NCP is painfully slow, so factor that into your plans if you're arriving in an electric car. A heads-up from the hotel at check-in would go a long way. Parking frustrations aside, Novotel Edinburgh is a brilliant base for exploring the city - exceptional staff, an unmissable breakfast, and a location that's hard to beat. We'd return without hesitation.

We booked this hotel not knowing that it is literally next to the zoo. So it was a pleasant surprise and we decided to include the Edinburgh Zoo as part of our itinerary when we were there. There’re bus stops infront of the hotel that conveniently transport us to the city centre in 15min; as well as to the airport. The bus systems there are superb and most of the times the buses arrived on schedule. There are no bottled mineral water, toothbrushes, toothpaste, comb or other sanitary products (except for shower gel, shampoo and handwash) provided in the room. However, there is a note pasted in the toilet that one has to ask for these items at the reception counter if one requires any of these. We didnt notice the pasted note in the toilet; thus we did not ask for these during our stay.. We were also surprised that there was no mini fridge or safe which are normally provided in a hotel room. Nonetheless we were happy when there’s an iron and ironing board in our room. We noticed that the housekeeping service usually starts around 9am. We were in the room at around 9.30am when someone from the housekeeping dept tried to open the door. So if you intend to wake up late, we suggest to keep your door locked and latched. Their housekeeping is efficient as we think they need to be on schedule but many times our used cups were not cleaned thoroughly (or replaced) as there were still stains in the cups. 1 day 1 of our half-drink bottled drinks was removed from the table which we presumed the housekeeper could have thrown it away. On the whole, it’s a pleasant stay for our family.

This hotel is really convenient for transport. It's close to the airport, and right next to the train station, from which it's only a 12-minute direct ride to the city center. It's just as good as those hotels in the city that cost over a thousand [currency unit] a night! Plus, there's a super big supermarket next door, which is perfect for picking up souvenirs. Just a heads-up: the hotel's standard is to clean every three days, so if you prefer daily cleaning, remember to arrange it when you check in!

The room quality is on par with a 3-star hotel in China. The hotel staff were very friendly and provided excellent service, but the room layout was quite odd and winding. The bed wasn't very big either. It's super convenient if you want to visit Calton Hill, but I wouldn't recommend it if you're primarily interested in the city center, as it's about a 20-minute walk.
