"Stayed at St Christopher’s Hostel, Edinburgh for a night and it was a good budget choice.
The location is excellent, right in the city centre and close to the Old Town and main attractions. Check-in was easy and the staff were friendly and helpful.
The dorm was basic but comfortable enough for a short stay. It can get a bit noisy, so earplugs help. Bathrooms and common areas were generally clean considering how busy it is.
Overall, it’s a social, well-located hostel—great for meeting people and exploring the city, but not ideal if you want total quiet. Perfect for a short stay in Edinburgh."

"During the Edinburgh Festival, hotel prices across the city skyrocket, so I was really pleased to snag a capsule bed here. It's in a prime location, right behind St Giles' Cathedral, and stepping outside puts you right in the middle of the Fringe street performances. The facilities, environment, management, and service inside are excellent, and safety is well-managed. Even though I booked an 8-day stay in a mixed dorm, everyone was respectful, and travelers were very considerate of each other's space.
The downstairs bar and restaurant offer great value for money, with guests receiving a 15% discount. The food and drinks are high quality.
The only downside was the mattress, which was too soft and made sleeping and getting up a bit uncomfortable."

"I had generally a good stay at the Loft. It was clean, the sleeping pod was comfortable, I chose this place over their other location because of the kitchen facilities. The kitchen is really well equipped and the dining room/social area quite spacious. I want to give special shout out to receptionist Sigrid who was super nice and friendly. The downsides were: noise from the outside early in the morning and late at night - it’s the back alley of pubs and restaurants - deliveries, bins, loud people etc. But they provide good ear plugs for free so I slept quite well, providing that I fell asleep before the snore machine next to me. The other annoying thing was poorly fitting bed sheets that I had to constantly fix over the edges. And I think they should keep the kitchen door open whenever possible because it gets hot in there. And whoever is reading this: If you know you’re snoring like a tractor, so loud that even ear plugs don’t cancel that sound out - you shouldn’t maybe be staying in a hostel dorm with other people 🙃"

"I booked a room for 30 people, and it wasn't crowded at all. We had a view of the castle from the window. There's a safe, but you need to bring your own lock. It's very close to the Dog Cemetery. The ground floor is a bar. My only real complaint is that there's no communal kitchen, so we couldn't cook, even though the platform said cooking facilities were available. I hope the platform takes note of this."

"Brilliant location especially for the fringe festival, it meant I was able to catch a show after checking out as they had free festival shows downstairs in the bar. My light was broken and unusable, but other than that the dorm on the 4th floor was quiet enough didnt hear any of the noise from the bar downstairs which is great, only issue was from guests not from the hostel itself, guests on the last night came in at 1.30am and started making their beds as only one of them had made their bed during check in, I guess the hostel could advise guests to make their beds at check in instead of waiting until they come back to do it, or explain general expectations of sharing rooms with others to be mindful of other guests as the 3 girls didnt turn the light off or stop talking in the room until 4am and then left the room again at 7.30am"

"One of the absolute best hostel in Edinburgh! Incredible facilities, super clean rooms, and the most helpful staff. It’s located in the best neighborhood, just a short stroll from The Meadows. If you visit during cherry blossom season, the views are magical as the park is covered in pink petals. LOVE IT SO MUCH. Will definitely return!"

"Issue with overlapping bookings. Someone was assigned the same bed as me after I moved in, but after telling reception, she got an upgrade to a private single. The best part of the hostel is the central location. The worst part was the bathroom that was out of order on my floor so I had to use the main one 3 floors down."

"It's a good hostel, right in the center, a couple of minutes' walk from all the sights. I liked everything, but there was one downside: I was cold in the evening. At first, I thought someone had opened the window, but no, it was just a draft from the frames, and there was no heating anymore. The next day it was warmer outside, and in the hostel, too."

"Very good living choice, very close to the train station, there are two small supermarkets next door, the supporting kitchen facilities are very complete, convenient for cooking, the service staff can also be very good, you can also store your luggage for free, the only regret is that you will check out at 10 am"

Absolutely a good location for quietness and quiet in the new city. Very close to the train station and the airport bus. If you bring large luggage, it is recommended that you live in the new city. It is very convenient. As long as you have a bed, you don’t need to wait until the afternoon. If you have big luggage, you need to take some effort to climb this red staircase. Others are perfect. You can cook in the kitchen. Basically, you have fruit, bread, milk, and tea. There is no limit in the hall. Your best meal, please consciously tidy and clean the girl I live in. The 6 rooms have curtains. The bedside can fill the shop. Small luggage can be placed directly in everyone's cabinet. If you are lucky, you can live on the bottom floor. Hahaha. It's a three-story bed, so the first floor is very low and I can hardly straighten the waist. I can end it. After all, the price is so favorable. Right, there is a great coffee bar and small restaurant downstairs. Everyone is seductive when I see the Apple store and turn in. This is the bar and the hotel

Affordable, quaint, and friendly staff. My only issue was that I didn’t have my passport nor driving permit. They were with the government, as o had to renew my document. I did, however, habe my working ID badge, photos of my passport, permit, and booking email. I even had mt credit cards and numerous cards with my name. She almost didn’t let me in. I understand these are rules, but I had everything, including an email saying my passport and permit are being sent back to me. I was eventually let in by Lex, when I showed her the email from the DBS. Lex also printed a work document for me. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel, except for the many flights of stairs, I’m strong, bit it is exactly that: a place for backpackers and very young people. I slept really well, as it’s a nice quiet street even when busy. Thank you.

Guest UserWe stayed twice at the Riccarton Inn. It's traditional with a pub up front and rooms at the back. Very clean and the staff was helpful and friendly. This is not a hotel chain but an individual inn. The rooms are not new, nor full of modern amenities as some would require. The mattress was creeky. Nevertheless, if you want a truly Scottish experience full of authentic ambiance, you cannot beat Riccarton. We ate breakfast and dinner in the inn and found them delicious. Had to hop on a couple of buses to get there from the airport, but that was part of the fun!

Have you ever spent the night in an old church? Here is the place. Somehow the old church vibe is super cozy. The location is central and Dean Village is just a 5-min walk. The staff (Ciprian) was very nice. Overall the room lived up to my expectations. Highly recommended!

Anonymous UserThe staff were nice, the bed and the toilet was clean. However, the bathroom was dirty. The sleeping experience depends on the people in the room.
Mine was bad because people in the room with me was loud even at 11PM. There was a bar on the ground floor. There was also a kitchen for people to use which was nice. Do I recommend this? If you're saving money, yes. But i recommend bringing slippers to be more comfortable and a lock for your bag for safety.
