"I stayed at Hotel Villa Fontaine Grand Tokyo Shiodome and had a pleasant experience overall. The hotel is conveniently located within the Shiodome complex, making it easy to access public transportation and nearby attractions. The breakfast was excellent, with a wide variety of delicious Japanese and Western options. I also noticed that many international guests, especially Americans, were staying here, which gave the hotel a lively and welcoming atmosphere. On the downside, the staff were just average not unfriendly, but not particularly warm or attentive either. The room was also smaller than it appeared in the photos, and the bathroom was very compact, with just enough space to move around comfortably. I expected a little more based on the pictures, but I understand that compact rooms are quite common in Tokyo. One thing that could definitely be improved is the smoking area. The smoking cubicle only accommodates two people at a time. Since many guests including myself were smokers, there was often a queue during peak hours, which was quite inconvenient. Overall, it’s a good hotel with a fantastic location and excellent breakfast. Just keep your expectations realistic regarding room size, and be prepared for the limited smoking facilities if you’re a smoker."

"employees and amazing breakfast. They had many vegetables + yogurt + all kind of meats (I really liked the beef) - really worth it for 2100 yen per person. My only complaint is that breakfast ends quite early at 9:30. It is very close to 2 metro lines (green and orange) so you can easily reach any place in Tokyo. There is a non-stop 7/11 at the -1 floor (you can take the elevator and exit through the shop). It has a very easy to use and good exchange rate ATM. The gym is like the typical hotel gym. Very small and with few dumbbells."

"When I booked online for the room, I stated very clearly no corner room, but when I discovered my room is nearly at the end, was a bit not happy. The location is 7 mins walk to suidoboshi station. But it's not very near to places like shibuya or Tokyo, a bit disappointed the single room is a bit small, but the milk lotion, liquid cleanser, face wash packet they provided is gd. A bit surprised they don't provide spoon but stirrer. The room is clean, and there is lawson at 2nd floor and laundry service at 7th level. I have taken video of the room but can't attach here, wasted. Near the suidoboshi station are some eateries. They provide one water bottle daily and clean the room daily which is good. If you preferred a clean room, this hotel is apt for u. The hotel provided airport limousine bus to airport but not vice versa"

"The hotel is very big with the Main, East, North and Annex Towers. I booked a 3-night in July 26 in Annex Towers. The room is clean and very quiet and the aircon is also very quiet. This gave me a very good rest during my short stay. The staff are generally friendly. The train station is just across the hotel. This made travelling very convenient. There are several shops and restaurants in the hotel and prices are affordable. There is also a 7-Eleven on the second floor."

Hotel near Ueno/Asakusa,Tokyo
ART HOTEL Nippori Lungwood is conveniently located a 1-minute walk from JR Nippori Station and just 36 minutes from Narita Airport via the Keisei Skyliner. It offers easy access to Ueno and Asakusa, making it an ideal base for sightseeing in Tokyo. With a variety of rooms from single to family types, guests can enjoy a spacious and comfortable stay for both leisure and business.

"Honestly, this hotel far exceeded my expectations. With three beds, each of our family of three had our own space, ensuring a great night's sleep after a long day of walking around. The room itself was quite spacious, which made the bathroom feel a little cramped by comparison. The view from the window was really open and the night view was great too. Breakfast was just okay, but everyone's attitude was excellent! Plus, it's only a three-minute walk from Nippori Station, with tons of restaurants and convenience stores. If you're looking for nightlife, there are plenty of options too, haha~ (The soundproofing isn't the best, so hopefully, you won't encounter any noisy groups partying late into the night.)"

"This was my second stay here. My room faced the stadium and was very quiet. I felt the cleanliness and maintenance weren't quite as good as the room I had last year, but still perfectly fine. The toiletries have been switched to a different brand – it says 'Italian brand' but I didn't recognize it, and personally, I don't think they're as good as the blue-bottled ones from last year. Also, a heads-up: you can only store luggage for same-day pick-up. I had planned to go to Fuji for a night and leave my luggage here, but overnight storage isn't an option. Other than that, no issues."

"Very comfortable beds and room overall. There was a bathtub to fill like a personal onsen. The whole room was very clean. The only downsides were the lack of space to place suitcases and the fact that the window couldn't be opened. Still, a very comfortable stay overall, yhe public baths were also a very good experience."

The Capitol Hotel Tokyu

9.7/10
Amazing

I come to Tokyo several times a year, staying a fortnight or more each time. This time I spent seven nights at The Capitol Hotel Tokyu. The room faced Hie Shrine. Through the floor-to-ceiling windows I could see the shrine's copper roof and half of Tokyo's skyline. The décor was modern without excess; the layout flowed easily, Bose speakers hidden in the walls, another set in the bathroom ceiling, connected by a 3.5mm jack. The curtains were motorized, though you hardly needed to close them. The turndown service. I would leave in the evening and return late to find the room changed: only the hallway light and bedside lamp left on, a bottle of water and a glass on the nightstand, two chocolates beside them. The evening tea and teacup, previously stored in the cabinet, had been moved next to the coffee machine. These changes were so slight you had to think back carefully to confirm they had happened at all. The temperature and humidity had been adjusted. As if the room itself remembered your habits. Room service fell short of the ryokan in Hakone or Lake Toya, but well above the ordinary hotel. Each day I made two or three cups of complimentary coffee, played music, read, wrote. In seven days I finished three books. The research ahead began to take shape. There were drawbacks. No washing machine, but a decent laundromat ten minutes' walk away—a chance to wander the streets of Akasaka. The room provided HDMI and ethernet ports but no cables; for those who came to rest, perhaps a mercy. The minibar fridge was mostly occupied by drinks for purchase, same as the Imperial, though there was still room for my sparkling water. The day I left it was half past five and fully dark. I could barely make out the faces of the bellhop and the taxi driver. Together they loaded my luggage into the boot. I wished the bellhop a happy new year in Japanese and told her I liked her hat. She smiled and returned the greeting. As the taxi pulled out of the underground drive, I thought of the inns Kawabata once wrote about: what had to be sought in the mountains of snow country can now be reached by elevator from the B2 exit of a metro station. I have watched the Shinagawa Prince Hotel loosen quietly over time, slip a little. That kind of decline is rarely one great error. It begins the day someone forgets to leave a glass of water, neglects to move a packet of tea, omits a newspaper. As for The Capitol Hotel Tokyu: in Japanese, what I experienced over these seven days is called ちょうどいい.

I visited Tokyo with my 88-year-old father. The hotel’s location is arguably the absolute best, making it incredibly convenient to visit Tokyo’s major attractions. The hotel facilities were also highly satisfying. First and foremost, the amenities in the guest room were excellent, and the thoughtful accessibility considerations for the elderly or infirm gave us great peace of mind. For instance, the provision of a bath chair with a backrest was very impressive. The hygiene and meticulous housekeeping were of the highest standard. Furthermore, the non-slip mat provided in the bathroom clearly reflected a deep consideration for the guests' specific needs. All of this, of course, is a testament to the staff’s proactive service and attentive care. If there was one minor disappointment, I wish a wider variety of pillows had been available in the room. In this regard, I felt it fell slightly short of meeting guests' diverse preferences. Additionally, as a helpful suggestion for safety, designing bathroom doors to open outward to facilitate emergency access in case of an accident inside is a fundamental design principle for luxury hotels. While preventing accidents altogether is ideal, being fully prepared for emergencies is what sets the highest standard of excellence. On another note, despite the hotel being located within a major railway station, there was absolutely no noise. The soundproofing was truly remarkable. The breakfast offered a rich and diverse selection, beautifully balancing traditional Japanese cuisine with Western options. While ordering a more unique or specialized beverage took a bit of time, the quality and taste were highly satisfying. The other facilities, particularly the restaurants and cafes, were exceptionally calm, elegant, and quiet, providing a very pleasant experience. The food, of course, tasted excellent. However, you must ensure you have ample time to enjoy it; it can require a significant amount of time and patience before the food is served in front of you. Overall, our experience was exceptionally satisfying and wonderful. With its rich historical background and narrative, the hotel offered a deeply engaging and far from boring stay.

The room was quite comfortable. The Western restaurant is on the first floor, and that's also where breakfast is served. I particularly loved the pancakes at breakfast! The main course came with a simple self-service salad. I stayed on the second floor. I asked the front desk for help confirming some items I wanted to buy, and they were very enthusiastic, even helping me make phone calls. There was a lovely Chinese lady there! All the staff were beautiful. For anyone visiting Akihabara, staying here is incredibly convenient.

This was my second stay, and it truly is a great value hotel in Tokyo. It's close to both Disneyland and Tokyo Station, but without the hefty price tag you'd find for hotels in the city center. The hotel offers a direct bus service to Narita Airport. For Haneda Airport, I took the JR train to Maihama Station (near Disneyland) and then caught an airport bus from there (tickets need to be purchased online in advance). The rooms are spacious and modern. I highly recommend this hotel.

Although the room was small, it was very well-designed! I worked comfortably leaning against the bench. There was also a large counter space next to the sink, perfect for putting things. I was here for a concert, and the hotel was super convenient for getting to Tokyo Dome, just a 25-minute subway ride away. Ginza for shopping was about a 10-minute walk. Getting here from Narita was easy too, either by Skyliner and then subway, or by taking a bus from Tokyo Station (which was about a 7-8 minute walk from the hotel). The staff spoke good English, so communication was a breeze. Next time I'm in Tokyo alone, I'll definitely choose to stay here again :D Btw, I had a box of merchandise shipped to the hotel before I arrived, and when I checked in, a handsome Japanese staff member helped me carry it up to my room (sorry, I didn't catch his name, it sounded like Ta**mi or Ka**mi – a big thank you and shout-out to him 😊)

[”1. **Unbeatable Location for Airport Travel**\nThe hotel offers direct limousine bus service to both Narita and Haneda Airports right from its doorstep, making airport transfers incredibly convenient – no need to lug heavy suitcases around. It's just a 3-minute walk to Tochomae subway station, with Shinjuku-Nishiguchi (West Exit) only 5-8 minutes away. Takashimaya, Odakyu Department Store, and Don Quijote are all within walking distance, making it super easy to shop for Sylvanian Families, Chanel, and cosmetics. Plus, there's a FamilyMart convenience store on the second floor, perfect for late-night essentials.”,”2. **Spacious Rooms, Especially for Tokyo**\nCompared to most compact Tokyo hotels, the rooms here are remarkably spacious, allowing you to easily open up a 28-inch suitcase. The newly renovated rooms come with multiple USB charging ports and modern amenities. High-floor rooms offer stunning views, perfect for overlooking Shinjuku's city nightscape in the evening. Soundproofing is excellent, completely blocking out street noise. The toiletries are high-quality, and the bathroom features a dry/wet separation design with ample supplies.”,”3. **Attentive Service and Comprehensive Facilities**\nThe front desk accepts Alipay, UnionPay, and WeChat Pay, making it very friendly for Chinese tourists. hotel location was great, easily access to shimbashi or ginza station. All staff at the hotel is helpful and accomodating. Amenities in room are changed and filled daily. Breakfast includes enough selections and changes menu twice a day. Might need to watch your waffles because other guest might just take it. Overall a very good hotel to stay at. BTW, donki is just beside the hotel and opens 24hrs.

Our family trip to Tokyo was made much easier by this hotel—it was an excellent choice for us. They offer adjoining rooms and sofa beds, which gave us plenty of space and flexibility. The location is another big plus: set within a family-friendly park, it’s just a short walk to Tokyo Tower, great restaurants, and nearby subway stations. One thing to keep in mind: the elevators are split—floors 1–18 and 19–32 are served separately, and access to floors 18–32 requires a key card. So if you’re booking multiple room types, just double-check which floors they’re on to avoid any confusion.

The room was quite small, basically just a place to sleep. You could open your suitcase, but it made the space feel a bit cramped. The room's amenities weren't very new. The only thing I found really practical was the spacious vanity, which was great for putting things down. However, I wouldn't say it was easy to do makeup, as the whole bathroom was quite basic, lacking a proper vanity light or mirror. Although this hotel came up as one of the top three (I think it was the first) when I searched for Shinjuku area accommodations, the closest subway station is actually Nishi-Shinjuku. It takes about a fifteen-minute walk to get to Shinjuku JR Station. There aren't many convenience stores nearby, as the hotel is located above the metropolitan government building. There were even some homeless people in the vicinity (?). The hotel staff automatically provide service in English, which made communication much smoother than in many other Japanese hotels. The guests were also predominantly Westerners. The most impressive part of the entire hotel was probably the grand lobby. Overall, the service was fine, but next time, I'd probably use a similar budget to stay at a different five-star hotel.
