Hakone Hotels with Hot Tub

"Our stay at this ryokan was truly exceptional. From the very moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming and helpful. The traditional-style room was spotlessly clean, and sleeping on the futon turned out to be very comfortable. The highlight of the trip was definitely the hot springs (onsen) – the [open-air bath / private onsen] offered the perfect way to unwind after a full day of exploring Hakone. Both the kaiseki dinner and breakfast were culinary masterpieces. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an authentic Japanese atmosphere and luxury. We will definitely be back!"

"The moment our car pulled up, a staff member rushed out to help with our luggage, smiling all the while. They guided us through check-in, even offering a warm towel and welcome tea – talk about a fantastic first impression! Just outside the lobby, there's a lush, green mountain view. Lounging on the beanbag chairs there, just chilling out, was incredibly therapeutic 🌿. The room itself was a typical Japanese style, spacious and spotless. The balcony even had an open-air private onsen tub, so if you didn't feel like going to the public baths, you could soak in your own hot spring while enjoying the view – maximum privacy. The hotel also provided yukata robes, and wearing them around the premises really added to the whole experience 👘. The onsen facilities were definitely the highlight! The public baths on the fifth and sixth floors alternate daily for men and women. The open-air onsen on the sixth floor had an absolutely stunning view – mountains by day, starry skies by night. Soaking in the hot spring with a towel on my head, just zoning out, felt exactly like something out of an anime. The toiletries were POLA, with everything from makeup remover to toner and lotion provided. My skin felt so smooth after the bath, I just went straight back to my room and passed out ♨️✨. For dinner, we chose the teppanyaki. The chef cooked each dish right in front of us, meticulously explaining every course in English. The ingredients were fresh, the seasoning precise – you could really taste the care put into it. Breakfast was a buffet, and having unlimited sashimi rice bowls was pure bliss. Seafood donburi lovers, rejoice! 🍣 On checkout day, a staff member stood at the entrance, bowing goodbye and waving until our car was far out of sight. That feeling of being genuinely cared for truly makes you want to come back again and again."

"One of our best stay in Japan! The set meal, especially the dinner are awesome (at least for us Asian). We also enjoyed the room, amenity provided and flawless service. Hot spring is great, combined with free massage chair is heaven. It’s on a steep slope so if you don’t drive that would be some challenge."

"This is a historic hotel where you open the doors with a key. There's a large supermarket and two convenience stores nearby, so meals are never an issue. The supermarket also has a washer/dryer combo. You have to lay out the futons yourself on the tatami mats. Given its age, although there are many outlets in the room, there are no USB ports. The hotel offers a daily shuttle to the nearby train station, and they'll ask you if you need it at check-in."

"The hotel is brand new and very clean — everything feels fresh and well maintained. One of the highlights is its location near the Lalique Museum, which is an absolutely amazing place to visit. There are also supermarkets nearby, which makes everything very convenient. The area feels peaceful and somewhat secluded, giving you the sense of being away from the city. At the same time, it’s not isolated — you can easily reach the more lively areas by taking bus S, and it’s only a short ride. The atmosphere is completely different from the city — it feels almost like being in the countryside or at a summer house, very calm and relaxing. Inside the hotel, everything is beautiful and modern. Truly a great stay — thank you!"

"Fantastic location next to Gora Station with easy access to Gotemba premium outlets via bus& Cablecar to Lake Ashi. Kaiseki breakfast and dinners were thoughtfully planned and different each meal. So many free snacks and food at different timings. Private outdoor onsen was wonderful as well. Note: you have to queue for any of the 3 huts. Only thing we didn’t like was having to shower outdoors and the dated toto bidet. Other than that, perfect 2 night stay at Hakone."

"OMG, there were bugs everywhere in our room, and for the price we paid, it was extremely disappointing. The buffet offered a wide variety of food options, which was a positive, but the sheer number of guests made the experience feel crowded, noisy, and far less premium than we expected from a hotel in this price range. Another frustrating issue involved some items my family accidentally left behind. My brother left an Apple charger adapter, and my father left a dental kit in the room. After checking out, we asked our next hotel to call and notify the property. We then spent around 30 minutes traveling back to retrieve the items, only to be told by the front desk that nothing had been found. What was even more disappointing was being told that it was ”not possible” for us to have left the items there because they would have been found if they had been left behind. Rather than helping investigate the situation, the staff seemed more interested in dismissing our concerns. Whether the items were misplaced, overlooked during housekeeping, or genuinely not found, being told that our account of events was impossible was both frustrating and unprofessional. Overall, this stay fell well below our expectations, especially considering the price point. Unfortunately, the issues with room cleanliness, the crowded atmosphere, and the handling of our lost-property inquiry left us with a very negative impression."

"A nice hotel that is a little distant from the nearest restaurants, shops and attractions. There’s a shuttle bus to the local railway station, which is useful but it stops at 6:00pm so after that you have to walk. It’s not too far but it is very steep. Our room was in need of refurbishment, with a stained carpet and tired fittings. That said it had everything we needed.  The onsen was a welcome facility which was very enjoyable. The ‘free-flow’ beverages from 18:00-20:00 was also a nice touch but we weren’t made aware of it and it would have passed us by if we hadn’t heard it being offered to other guests.  Dinner was very nice but a little odd, in the sense that there was no choice and was French cuisine; it was also quite expensive. Breakfast was average with undercooked bacon, good eggs, a nice yoghurt/compote combination but no preserves to have with the (one small) croissant. Service was very good."

"The hotel is located near Gora Station, and they offer a shuttle service. We were on a self-driving trip, and navigating there required a bit of careful attention, but there's parking available right outside the hotel. I give very high marks for the hotel's ambiance, the staff's service attitude, and the comfort of the rooms. The room was spacious, and the single beds were also very wide. The toilet and bathroom were separate, and there was a private onsen on the balcony. We ordered breakfast at the hotel, which was a Japanese-Western selection, pretty similar to what you'd find at a typical Western buffet."

"I took a bus from Odawara Station, got off at the “Verde no Mori” bus stop, and reached the property in about an 8-minute walk. As it was my first time visiting Hakone, walking uphill from the bus stop while carrying a suitcase made me feel a bit uneasy at first. However, once I arrived, I was warmly welcomed with a welcome drink, and they kindly accommodated an early check-in, which was a big relief. The room was spacious with a beautiful view, and I was thrilled to finally experience a semi-open-air bath, something I had always dreamed of. The location is extremely quiet, making it a perfect place to truly relax and enjoy a peaceful escape from everyday life. There isn’t much around the property. If you have a car, this won’t be an issue, but for those without one (like me this time), I recommend bringing some snacks just in case. Although I didn’t use it, the hotel also seems to offer shuttle service to nearby bus stops. Dinner, which I reserved in advance, was served in a private dining room and featured a kaiseki-style menu. During my stay in late January, the sashimi course originally included bluefin tuna, amberjack, and ark shell. However, because “a Japanese guest (me!) was visiting,” they thoughtfully prepared usubahagi, a fish I had never encountered before. I was truly impressed by this considerate gesture. The sakura shrimp rice cooked in a small clay pot was another highlight. When I couldn’t finish it all, they kindly made rice balls for me to take, which was such a warm and thoughtful touch. Breakfast was also confirmed the day before, and I was able to receive some additional service. Both meals were excellent in quantity and flavor—I enjoyed everything immensely. The flowing hot spring bath in the room requires mixing in cold water and adjusting the temperature yourself, but by running the cold water about 5–7 minutes before bathing, it was not inconvenient at all. Honestly, this is a place that may divide opinions depending on personal preference. For me, however, it was a wonderful stay, and I definitely plan to return. Unfortunately, I didn’t catch his name, but the Japanese male staff member who took care of our meals was gentle, polite, and answered all my questions clearly, which made me feel very comfortable. There was also a young Southeast Asian female staff member; while there were minor communication misunderstandings, she worked very hard. As someone who also works abroad, I sincerely hope she continues sharing the beauty of Hakone and Japan with international guests visiting this inn. Next time, I will definitely stay for multiple nights!"
