At dawn, the rising crimson sun softly tints the snow-covered slopes of Mount Fuji with hues of golden red. Its reflection dances upon the shimmering surface of Lake Yamanaka, creating the breathtaking sight known as the “Double Red Fuji”—a miraculous moment when heaven and earth mirror each other in radiant harmony. It is a masterpiece crafted wholly by nature, inspiring awe with its quiet beauty. Our hotel is located just over ten meters from the lakeshore. Within a few seconds’ walk, you can reach the water’s edge and experience these magnificent, fleeting scenes with ease. Fujikokusai Kaikan Hotel is a villa-style retreat situated just across Lakeside Avenue, moments away from Lake Yamanaka. All guest rooms are equipped with air conditioning and heating, a smart TV, hair dryer, and electric kettle. The bathroom area features a separate toilet, bath, and vanity. Warm interiors combining carpet and tatami offer the comfort of both Japanese and Western styles.

"We had an absolutely wonderful stay and would happily give this hotel 5 stars! From the very beginning, the staff were incredibly accommodating and responsive. They kindly arranged to pick us up from Gotemba Premium Outlets, which made everything so convenient for us. After attending the beautiful Yamanakako Ice Lantern Festival, we made a last-minute request for dinner. Despite the short notice, they thoughtfully prepared a delicious shabu-shabu meal for us. They even gave us complimentary cookies because our moms were very hungry after the festival. It was such a sweet and caring gesture that we truly appreciated. The hotel itself is spacious, clean, and wonderfully warm, making it the perfect place to relax after being out in the cold. We felt comfortable, cared for, and genuinely welcomed throughout our stay. Highly recommended for their exceptional hospitality. We would definitely love to come back!"

"Great experience. The staff were lovely and the area is beautiful. Rooms are very homely and comfy. We went into the onsen both nights and it was great. We also got dinner both nights at the hotel and the food was good we were impressed. Overall it felt like a very personal stay and couldn't be happier. For some of the logistics if you are wanting to do the hakone main loop. We recommend coming in from Shinjuku on the romance car, take the montain train up to Gora and then the cable car to Sounzan. We then took a roughly 10min bus from Sounzan to Yuyu. The next morning we then took the same bus back to Sounzan and caught the first 9am ropeway fo start off the loop. We managed to avoid most of the crowds and it was very convenient. Once again couldn't recommend Yuyu enough thank you for the great stay!!"

gran terrace Le Lien Hakone is perfect for guests who want to discover the charms of their trip. Our hotel offers a comfortable stay, whether for business or leisure. The hotel is conveniently located about 3km away from Carinomori station. Nearby are many tourist attractions in Hakone, such as the Carving Mori Art Museum, Hakone Kokuen Onsen, Oyongu, and Lake Ashinochi. For those with time to spare, Hakone Rolls (trams, cable cars, and some recreational facilities are available) can be purchased at the ticket office of Hayayama Station. Among the hotels in Hakone, our hotel is highly rated. ● About extra meals on the day The museum is committed to the production of cuisine, providing guests with fresh ingredients as the principle. Breakfast additions can be communicated with the staff at check-in, Additional dinner needs to be confirmed by contacting the hotel 2-3 days in advance.

"The hotel was new and clean. We had a room with a view towards the mountain. To reach there you can walk or take a bus. Near Souzan station, which I think it is ideal if you plan to stay overnight because you can continue the journey through the ropeway. There is no actual reception, the reception is done within the restaurant. If you want breakfast at the place, please contact the hotel before arriving because the rest of the areas nearby start quite late after 9am. Also, the hotel may not have dinner, need to check with Hotel before booking. Made a mistake of not checking and had to order Food delivery which was not very nice. But the staff there are friendly and nice. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and may decide to stay there again next time "

"The hostel is near Gora Station, but it's a waste to come to healing. It's nice to go up and down by lift when you come to Gora Station, but it's a ryokan, so it can be a waste. Breakfast was buffet and ok, dinner is a lot of drinks and drinks, but the meal is a little less. It was good to be a convenience store right in front of you, and the bathroom in the room was really good."

"The staff were all very kind and I had a comfortable stay every day. Thank you. It's a clean, classic hotel, and many of the guests were laid-back, so I felt very relaxed. I went sightseeing during the day, but next time I think it would be nice to relax on the lounge's veranda. The breakfast buffet was also delicious. I loved the curry and stew. I arrived in Hakone by public transportation, so it was very convenient that the hotel's free shuttle service ran from Togendai until the evening. The shuttle service to Togendai after check-out was also very convenient. There was something like a bus stop near the hotel, so next time I would like to check the bus schedule so that I can enjoy sightseeing more flexibly. There didn't seem to be any restaurants nearby, so I'll do some research on that next time."

"Excellent! This onsen ryokan, operating for over 70 years, boasts 9 natural spring sources, a clear testament to its authentic *gensen kakenagashi* (free-flowing hot spring water) system. It's a short, convenient walk from the station. The bamboo grove at the entrance is exquisitely maintained, and we were welcomed by female staff in traditional attire. The gentleman who handled our check-in had a wonderfully distinctive charm. Our room was very spacious, with large floor-to-ceiling windows offering stunning views of the river and distant mountains – truly beautiful. We had booked a Japanese-style room with a semi-open-air private bath, including the 'one night, two meals' plan. Before dinner, an attendant came to greet us, and then the elaborate multi-course kaiseki meal was served. The entire dining experience lasted nearly two hours. While the ingredients were intricate and well-presented, it wasn't 'delicious' in a conventional way, though certainly not unpleasant. I suppose that's just how traditional kaiseki is, and I appreciate the experience. Afterwards, a staff member prepared our futon beds for the night. Soaking in the private onsen before bed was incredibly relaxing. The hot spring water was continuously flowing, and a notice on the wall detailed its composition, stating that only water was added to lower the temperature, along with chlorine for disinfection, and crucially, no circulation system was used. This is significant because many other onsen ryokans might offer beautiful gardens, attractive prices, and even private indoor baths, but a closer look often reveals they might just be using plain heated water or circulated onsen water. The impeccable service was almost overwhelming. Overall, I highly recommend this ryokan to anyone looking for an authentic Japanese onsen experience. If I were to visit again, I would probably opt out of the two meals package. The kaiseki was a unique experience, but once is enough, and there are many dining options on the walk from the station."

"We enjoyed the rather spacious room and the view of rolling hills. With large beds and a tatami room, it felt rather luxurious. The entire place has an 80s vibe, but good thing we liked the nostalgia it brought for us. The room was quick clean too. Only that the outside balcony and windows had a few rather large spiders and spider webs. Good thing we don't have arachnophobia. They have two locations for their onsens at different timings. So that needed some getting used to. The onsens themselves are decent enough. Getting to the place was a little tricky as we didn't know what was the best bus to hop onto. We hopped onto the bus that Google Maps indicated was the most direct, only to realise as we were boarding that that bus was not covered under the Hakone Free Pass. On hindsight, to utilise the Hakone Free Pass, one should take the bus to Yunessen, the hotel next door and walk a short distance uphill. For the price we thought it was quite worth it, especially compared to some of the other hotels nearby."

At first, we got lost while finding the entrance, but a helpful staff member made an effort to lead us all the way to the reception area. The rooms are big and spacious but a little warmer than expected for my wife. It is just nice for me during autumn. The room we had was in a corner, and it had a great view!"

"20 min uphill hike from Gora station. Or you can take cable train up hill for two stations and walk on flatland for about 8 minutes to hotel. Hotel has shuttle bus. They dropped us off on the way back. You can possibly call to pick you up at Gora station. Trip.com reservation options show you prices for one adult. It's very hard to book for 3 people to stay in one room to save money. I sent a custom request to the hotel exactly this - 3 people in one room. Trip.com charged me $270 and when I got to the hotel, they said I have to pay $300+ more for 2 more people. That was not clearly communicated to me by either Trip.com or hotel. There's a language and cultural barrier. In Japan, you pay per person - not by rooms. They scan your all passports of everyone staying - not just the person who books. With last minute notice, I had no choice but to pay more as other hotels nearby are filled up and we were very tired from 4 hours train transfers dragging our bags plus 8 minutes walk to the hotel. All in all, if trip.com room selections are not a perfect fit, I can't recommend booking this hotel. Custom messages are not recognized. Communication is lacking. You will get charged last minute without any alternatives left. For $570 a night, we could have a way better hotel in Hakone. The breakfast also wasn't memorable and you have to reserve it ahead of time. I would not come back."

"The only shortcoming of the most satisfactory homestays in the entire Tokyo tour is that you have to climb a steep slope for 20 minutes. A taxi is only 50 yuan, and it takes only two minutes. Booked a room with a private hot spring pool, without exaggeration, the son soaked 4 times, very antique. I went to the public hot springs. The public hot springs are small and not open-air. They are not as good as my own room. The two meals provided were normal, but they did n’t work, but the portions were large and the room was large. There was nothing wrong with it. The bed was comfortable. You have to go a little bit even by car. Overall very satisfied."

AANASTASIIA_BERDNIKOVAThis hotel is a paradise in the mountains of Hakone! Traditional style of the rooms - it feels like you are living in a Japanese family. We were prepared a traditional dinner, which was served in our room. It was very tasty and varied! The hotel has 3 onsen: 2 - private, 1 - public. We visited only the private ones (you need to book a time in advance at the reception upon check-in, the visit time is 30 minutes). It was wonderful! The hotel also provides a transfer from and to the nearest train stations. The rooms are clean, cozy, we slept on tatami under soft blankets. The hotel has a relax room. With massage chairs and a very quiet atmosphere. We stayed in this room after visiting the onsen and got great relaxation. And you are also given national clothes for rest and sleep. It is very beautiful and cute. Breakfasts were also in kaiseki style - varied and unusual. The hotel staff is very kind and friendly. this hotel allows tattoo baths. great experience, thank you very much! want to come back again!

OOmarpcgOur stay was absolutely fantastic. The traditional Japanese room was spacious and super comfy. The onsen facilities were definitely the highlight, way better than I expected for the price we paid. They have 3 types: 1 indoor, 1 outdoor and 1 mixed. All these are bookable throughout the day, from 7am to 11pm and they are completely private. The ryokan is 15 minutes walking from Gora station, so if you arrive by train and you have luggage I recommend you check on google map how to get there with a bus, otherwise you’ll have to walk uphill for a while. The only negative point I can find is probably the breakfast, I tried both western and Japanese style, they are both quite pricy for what they are and I personally did not enjoy the Japanese one. Despite this I would totally come back if I ever visit Hakone again.

GGuest UserWe got to the hotel in the beautiful location just before 3pm and we got given a little tour of the place and then got shown to our room. The staff are very friendly and do their best to speak English. A lovely lady was in charge of our hospitality throughout our stay and she first showed us that there is a public hot spring and a private hot spring and asked us if we would like to book a time to use the private hot spring, we booked a time as we checked in but then we didn’t use it as we were happy with our private hot spring in the room. We also booked a time for dinner and they arrived at that time Promptly with A LOT of food. We also got a choice for a staple food and we chose some steak which was high quality and delicious, as well as the lobster (on the menu it said grilled prawn but a lobster is what came and it was delicious). We ordered a few beers and a bottle of wine with room service and it always came quickly and was nice and cold. The private hot spring is absolutely boiling but it’s a good experience and there’s ice water provided which helps. Breakfast came at 8.30am and it was also huge! It didn’t come with coffee but I ordered some and that was easy enough. The lady who served our food explained every dish and how to eat it and she was always extremely friendly and attentive. Would recommend!

JJasin LinaWe arrived at noon and found that check in proses was so simple, the owner sent me a pin code to open the door. The room looks exactly the same as what shows on photos, including all amenities. Rooms are clean and cozy, spacious for 4 persons event more. I love the bathtub waters adjustment for spas, and it is so relaxing. Only the hot water is a bit difficult to adjust . Toilet are separate from bathroom and provide handwash as well . We didn't cook our meal because all the stores nearby were closed at 3 pm. Make sure to bring your own food because it's not easy to find in Hakone. Easy to walk to the station and Harbor for boat tours, to the cable car and Black Eggs. Highly recommended for all types of travelers If you would like to know more, watch my channel https://youtu.be/69AEoaBs2po?si=otl8rSuvmSVddmfu

GGuest UserSuch a great find! Calming ryokan in a peaceful part of the mountain. Staff were all super friendly and accommodating of us as tourists who didn’t speak Japanese. Every meal was delicious and the staff took time to tell us what each little dish was and even gave us some extra mini dishes to help us try different things. They were all delicious! The onsens were also very relaxing and had everything you could need. My boyfriend and I booked the private onsen our last night and looking out over the mountain at night when it was raining was a great experience. We got the Japanese style room and it was very spacious and the tatami floors were very comfortable. View over the mountains was also terrific. The ryokan shuttle took us to the nearest two train stations (Gora or Sounzan) in the morning when we requested and picked us up at the end of the day so it was very convenient getting to the ryokan even without a car. Highly recommend this stay!!

GGuest UserTake the Shinkansen from Osaka to Odawara, then transfer to the tram to Hakone Yumoto, and then take a bus to Gora. Two people dragged their suitcases and walked uphill for 15 minutes. They were exhausted. When they arrived at the hotel, they found that they could wait for the train in Gora, and it only took 5 minutes to walk. The hotel facilities are not new, and there are not many guests, mostly Japanese tourists. The hot spring is relatively small, and the water temperature is very high. You have to come out to breathe after soaking for a while. I experienced the private bath and open-air hot spring, and there were a lot of mosquitoes. The food is OK, worthy of the price.

GGuest UserThe main courtyard of this hotel is very upscale and only accommodates top-notch guests who can afford a butler. We stayed in the old building in the hotel's side courtyard, the one with the big words ”Fairyland” hanging on it. The room was large, clean and quiet. But there is no elevator, so you have to climb four floors. Customers with large suitcases should order with caution.
