"Great experience. The staff were lovely and the area is beautiful. Rooms are very homely and comfy. We went into the onsen both nights and it was great. We also got dinner both nights at the hotel and the food was good we were impressed. Overall it felt like a very personal stay and couldn't be happier. For some of the logistics if you are wanting to do the hakone main loop. We recommend coming in from Shinjuku on the romance car, take the montain train up to Gora and then the cable car to Sounzan. We then took a roughly 10min bus from Sounzan to Yuyu. The next morning we then took the same bus back to Sounzan and caught the first 9am ropeway fo start off the loop. We managed to avoid most of the crowds and it was very convenient. Once again couldn't recommend Yuyu enough thank you for the great stay!!"

A luxury ryokan (traditional Japanese inn) with all guestrooms featuring an open-air bath, terrace and dining room. Guests staying here enjoy scenic views of the gorge from their room. null

"Our one night stay at this ryokan was marvelous. It's right in front of a bus stop which was very convenient. They had someone waiting to welcome us at the entrance and made us feel very welcomed from the moment you step in. The room was beautiful and cozy during January winter. All toiletries were readily available so there's no need to bring anything apart from yourselves and some change of clothes. The private onsen was amazing with a scenery to boot. Dinner and breakfast served was delicious and very authentic Japanese cuisine that highlights the natural flavors. We couldn't get enough of the food. Our friendly server (might be Yuka. Forgot her name so sorry) did an amazing job giving an explanation of each of the dishes (in Japanese) The only complaints we have were that they do not have coffee in the room, you can get it from the lobby bar with coupons provided, but we weren't too fond of getting out of the room early in the morning. The other one was that awkwardly situated urinal that's right in front of the toilet so it is in your face if you lean forward while you're doing your business. Overall, it's value for money and would love to go back there and perhaps more than one night stay the next time."

"Nestled in a peaceful corner of Mt. Hakone, yet conveniently connected by bus, only a 5-10 mins walk. This charming little hotel offered an unforgettable immersion into Japanese culture, complete with tatami-matted floor, soft futon bedding and soothing onsen. With it's effortless check in and out, it's perfect for travelers seeking tranquility and authenticity without sacrificing to much convenience. Pros: If you plan to visit the Hakone pirate ship and the Hakone ropeway at Togendai, it will give you an early start because it's only 11 minutes by bus. Con: To get to the hotel you will need to go up a little hill, not too hard, but if you have a lot of luggage it could be a bit of a challenge (But it's an easy walk back to the bus stop) Be mindful of the bus time getting to the hotel as the bus tends to end around 5:00 p.m. Also, there aren't any places to eat near the hotel, so you may need to take food with you, order breakfast with the hotel or buy some snacks and instant noodles from the hotel shop."

"Our stay was absolutely fantastic. The traditional Japanese room was spacious and super comfy. The onsen facilities were definitely the highlight, way better than I expected for the price we paid. They have 3 types: 1 indoor, 1 outdoor and 1 mixed. All these are bookable throughout the day, from 7am to 11pm and they are completely private. The ryokan is 15 minutes walking from Gora station, so if you arrive by train and you have luggage I recommend you check on google map how to get there with a bus, otherwise you’ll have to walk uphill for a while. The only negative point I can find is probably the breakfast, I tried both western and Japanese style, they are both quite pricy for what they are and I personally did not enjoy the Japanese one. Despite this I would totally come back if I ever visit Hakone again."
