"Let's start with the positives.
1. **Excellent Location**: Huaihe Road Pedestrian Street is right downstairs, and so is Kawaoka (a popular local bubble tea chain).
2. **Outstanding Laundry Service**: The lady working in the laundry room was incredibly helpful. She washed, dried, and even folded our clothes, then brought them back to our room.
3. **Good Breakfast**: The breakfast had a great variety, and there's a kids' play area in the restaurant, which allowed adults to enjoy their meal while the children played.
Now for the disappointments.
1. **Overwhelming Smoke Smell**: The entire hotel reeked of smoke! There were ashtrays by the elevators on every floor – are they encouraging smoking? As soon as we opened our room door, a strong smoky smell hit us, which totally goes against the impression I have of the Mercure brand.
2. **Outdated Room Facilities**: While the hotel only opened in 2021, the facilities are poorly maintained. Many floorboards are peeling and cracked, which was quite disappointing upon entering the room.
3. **No Air Conditioning**: We were told that it wasn't the season for AC, and only a central fan was available. The weather was very hot, and while they provided a fan for the room, it was incredibly noisy at night! I woke up in a sweat.
4. **Unimpressive Lobby Entrance**: The hotel lobby is on the 5th floor, and the entrance from the 1st floor was rather unappealing, giving it a feel more like a family guesthouse than a hotel.
Overall, if you're staying for just one night for the location, it's acceptable. However, the overall experience simply can't compare to other Mercure hotels in different cities. With so many other hotels available, I wouldn't necessarily choose this one again."
