"From Hakone-Yumoto, take the train to Gora Station. After exiting the station, you can walk across from Setsugetsuka Hotel to catch a bus to Kowakien Hotel. The hotel also has a shuttle, but to get to the shuttle pick-up point, you need to go through an underpass, and there's no elevator. The transportation around the hotel is quite convenient, so make good use of the Hakone Free Pass. The hotel rooms are decent, and both breakfast and dinner are buffet style, with good quality and a wide variety of choices. You can enjoy unlimited sweet shrimp! 🦐🦐🦐"

If you have any food allergies, please contact the hotel at least 2 days prior to your check-in. Located in Hakone, Hakone Kowakien TEN-YU is within a 5-minute walk of Okada Museum of Art and Hakone Kowakien Yunessun. You can take advantage of recreational amenities such as hot springs and a sauna. Additional features at this ryokan include complimentary wireless Internet access, concierge services, and gift shops/newsstands. Enjoy a satisfying meal at Geihinkan(Steak) serving guests of Hakone Kowakien TEN-YU. Quench your thirst with your favorite drink at the bar/lounge. "This hotel is conveniently located about 200 meters from the Tenyu bus stop, accessible by Hakone's main bus lines, Z03 and J03. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated and has a very stylish ambiance. The Japanese-style room, though not huge, was quite spacious and quiet. Despite checking in during February, the room's excellent insulation actually made it feel warm. The private open-air bath on the balcony was amazing; even with outside temperatures around 5 degrees Celsius, the continuous flow of 40-degree-plus hot spring water meant it was never cold. The hotel also offers outdoor public baths and a footbath. Plus, on the 5th floor lobby, there are two free ice cream machines – just ask the front desk for complimentary tokens to enjoy as much as you like – and a continuous supply of various iced teas. I must especially commend the dining experience; half-board (dinner and breakfast) is an absolute must! Upon check-in, the front desk proactively changed our two nights of shabu-shabu to one night of shabu-shabu and one night of kaiseki. Each dinner was a full course, incredibly delicious, and left us completely stuffed. For breakfast, there are two restaurants, and I highly recommend the buffet; the variety is extensive and far superior to the breakfast at the Imperial Hotel, which is often ranked as a top Tokyo dining spot on Ctrip. The hotel also hosts free evening performances, and you can even pay to release sky lanterns. Honestly, if I came to Hakone 100 times, I'd stay at Tenyu 100 times."

With a stay at Tenseien Odawara Station Annex in Odawara, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park and Hakone Hot Springs. This hotel is 11.6 mi (18.6 km) from Lake Ashi and 9.3 mi (15 km) from Hakone Kowakien Yunessun. Take advantage of recreation opportunities such as hot springs, or other amenities including a banquet hall and a vending machine. At Tenseien Odawara Station Annex, enjoy a satisfying meal at the restaurant. Buffet breakfasts are available daily from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM for a fee. Featured amenities include a safe deposit box at the front desk, an elevator, and a vending machine. Make yourself at home in one of the 187 air-conditioned rooms featuring LCD televisions. Complimentary wireless internet access keeps you connected, and digital programming is available for your entertainment. Private bathrooms with separate bathtubs and showers feature hair dryers and slippers. Conveniences include safes and desks.

"The hotel is incredibly convenient, located directly within the Odawara Station complex, although it can be a little tricky to find for first-timers. From Odawara Station's East Exit (stay within the station building), take a short escalator down. You'll spot the Lusca mall on your right. Upon entering, Marugame Udon is on your left, and Seijo Ishii supermarket is directly opposite. Walk past Marugame, turn left to exit the mall, then turn right onto a glass-enclosed walkway outside. Continue straight, passing a parking lot on your right. Keep going until you see the hotel's directional sign (like the one in the last photo). Take the escalator up to the 4th floor, where you'll find the hotel lobby. We stayed in a Double B room, which was relatively spacious and well-suited for a family of three. This particular room type, which we only saw listed on Ctrip, was excellent. The bathroom featured a wet/dry separation but no bathtub. However, the public bath on the 10th floor was very comfortable (remember to bring your own towel!). There's also a foot bath on the 14th floor offering scenic views. If daily cleaning is desired, simply place the 'clean my room' sign outside your door, and fresh towels and yukata will be provided. Even if you forget the sign, they thoughtfully leave fresh yukata and towels at your door – a really nice touch. I appreciated this considerate service that respected our privacy. The bedding was comfortable, and individually packaged facial cleanser, makeup remover, and body lotion were replenished daily. Odawara is a wonderful city, and this hotel's location makes it extremely convenient for visiting Hakone, Atami, and Kamakura. I would love to visit again and would definitely choose this hotel for my next stay. The only minor downsides were the slight train noise (though I still slept very well during my three-night stay) and the slightly stiff toothbrush provided."

The landscape of the hotel were amazing, we felt like in the woods which is the experience that we want. The hotel located near all transit. 2 minutes walk to the trainstation and 4 minutes to the bus station, super convenient, especially if you carry luggages or the weather is not too good. It is also very convient to visit museums. Over all, do more research before arrives, so you know how to purchase tickets to places."

"The hostel is near Gora Station, but it's a waste to come to healing. It's nice to go up and down by lift when you come to Gora Station, but it's a ryokan, so it can be a waste. Breakfast was buffet and ok, dinner is a lot of drinks and drinks, but the meal is a little less. It was good to be a convenience store right in front of you, and the bathroom in the room was really good."

"On our second day in Atami, we switched to the Resorpia Hotel by the sea. Since we were coming from another onsen hotel, we took a taxi directly to the 1st floor. Guests can only access this hotel by walking down from the 9th floor on the hill. The location is fantastic; we could see the ocean right from our room's balcony. The next morning, we could even watch the 'Tangerine Sea' sunrise 🌅 from bed. The public bath is on the 5th floor. It's a bit of a shame there's no open-air onsen, so you can only enjoy the view through the window while bathing. The hotel offers a shuttle service to Atami Station, but you need to book it in advance. The facilities are a bit dated, but the hygiene is still very good. Overall, it offers decent value for money."

Hotel near Kowakidani/Miyanoshita,Hakone
A new journey begins in Gora, Hakone A five-minute walk on flat ground from Gora Station on the Hakone Tozan Railway, Hakone Yutowa is located in a rare location that can be accessed from the station on a flat road in the Gora area, which has many sloping areas. It is also conveniently located for those who do not own a car. There are also many tourist attractions in the surrounding area, such as Hakone Gora Park and the Hakone Open-Air Museum. Please enjoy Hakone Yutowa as your base. The name Hakone Yutowa combines "you" and "circle." In a warm and relaxed atmosphere that evokes the image of a "hot spring," you can spend time with your family, partner, or friends, around the fire, drinking together, and making plans for the next day. A variety of content and services will color the important moments of each customer's connections. This is the idea behind the establishment. "Naka-niwa" has a foot bath (hot spring) and a bonfire pit on the wooden deck, and the "library" has a collection of about 700 books. Guests can gather in the lounge and spend time relaxing in their favorite spot. Meals and drinks are "all-inclusive", so you can stay with ease. Not only the restaurant, but also the use of public spaces and drinks are free. You can enjoy yourself without worrying about additional fees. Do what you like, wherever you like, with friends, your partner, or family. It's a "freestyle hotel" where you can enjoy your time however you like.

"This is a very spacious onsen ryokan with a kids' book corner and a manga nook. The private onsen baths are free of charge, making it perfect for family trips, though they are quite popular and require a queue. There are complimentary afternoon refreshments and late-night snacks. The courtyard features a bonfire and foot bath. From check-in in the afternoon, there are always facilities to use, and it never feels too crowded, even on weekends, as the space is very well-arranged and comfortable. The hotel is conveniently located right next to Gora Station, making it easy to get around by bus or train. The staff are very friendly, and snacks are constantly replenished, so you don't have to worry about missing out if you arrive late. After a hot spring bath, there's milk and popsicles available. The 24-hour self-service beverage bar also has hot water and hot tea, so those who prefer warm water are covered. The only downside is the lack of a full-length mirror in the room, which is a bit of a pity."

"We booked a lake view room, and it was snowing heavily the day we checked in. The view from the window was absolutely stunning, I've never realized how beautiful snowfall could be. The next day, it was clear and sunny, offering a different kind of beauty. We could even see Mount Fuji from our bed just by opening the curtains! This hotel is truly amazing, and the service is excellent. The lady at the front desk who spoke Chinese was incredibly patient. It was truly an unforgettable travel experience!"

"First, I was very happy to get such big Japanese-style room. It has 2 big rooms and much space. You can easily lie there if there are 8 of you. Hotel is kind of tired, but staff keeps it in a good condition. Dinner is a set menu, not kanseki. But it still was good. I was full and happy. Breakfast is a buffet. A bit about how to reach the hotel. There are shuttels from Hakone-Yumoto. It should cost 200 yen. They bring you to Okada hotel. But it's not your hotel. Stuff will give you a map and you need like 3 min to reach the right hotel. There are several onsens. Open and closed. All were good, warm. With good view on mountains. You can take yukata at the reception. And you need to make bed by yourself, but it's only cover mattress but sheet. Nothing difficult."

EE1319****Thank you for your attentive service. Thanks to you, we had a truly wonderful time. The room and all the facilities were excellent, making us feel incredibly comfortable. Here, I would like to offer some feedback to one of the female staff members in charge of food and beverage service. We were deeply moved by her genuine effort and dedication. At the same time, for her future development, we would like to offer a few suggestions: 1. Regarding plate placement: We suggest placing plates with food in the center of the tray or serving board, as this will look more aesthetically pleasing and presentable. 2. Regarding clearing tableware: Before serving new dishes, we suggest clearing all used plates and utensils (starting from the left or right side) before serving new dishes, as this will make the process smoother. 3. Regarding rice and miso soup: Asking guests if they would like more rice or miso soup before adding more will make the service more considerate and attentive. Being foreigners, we weren't overly demanding about the details of service, but this level of service might be met with very high expectations from Japanese guests. Nevertheless, overall, the stay was perfect and became one of our fondest memories. Thank you so much for providing us with such a wonderful time. Thank you!

MM851085****An absolutely perfect onsen and kaiseki experience! This is definitely a hotel I'd love to revisit. Upon check-in, they offered hot towels and snacks while I filled out the forms, which was such a warm gesture. The lobby boasts an unbeatable mountain view outside the windows. The interiors are elegant and understated. Every dish was exquisite. The Japanese breakfast, in particular, was the most elaborate I've ever had, with over 10 items including various small dishes, steamed egg, tofu, sashimi, seasoned rice, a seafood hot pot, yogurt, nuts, and fruit. You can choose between Japanese or Western breakfast. I'm so glad I picked the Japanese option. Both dinner and breakfast were served by the same intern, who was incredibly friendly, polite, and patiently explained each dish. She even left a thank you note when I checked out – so sweet!

AANASTASIIA_BERDNIKOVAThis hotel is a paradise in the mountains of Hakone! Traditional style of the rooms - it feels like you are living in a Japanese family. We were prepared a traditional dinner, which was served in our room. It was very tasty and varied! The hotel has 3 onsen: 2 - private, 1 - public. We visited only the private ones (you need to book a time in advance at the reception upon check-in, the visit time is 30 minutes). It was wonderful! The hotel also provides a transfer from and to the nearest train stations. The rooms are clean, cozy, we slept on tatami under soft blankets. The hotel has a relax room. With massage chairs and a very quiet atmosphere. We stayed in this room after visiting the onsen and got great relaxation. And you are also given national clothes for rest and sleep. It is very beautiful and cute. Breakfasts were also in kaiseki style - varied and unusual. The hotel staff is very kind and friendly. this hotel allows tattoo baths. great experience, thank you very much! want to come back again!

GGuest UserYama No Chaya has its own beauty and serenity. I personally don’t find it hard to locate - 2 bus stops away from Hakone Yumoto station + a 5 minutes walk are worth the stay. (Bus service stopped for one of the days due to bad weather and we walked for 20 minutes to Hakone Yumoto Station - all good) The team is very hospitable - they also have some English and Chinese speaking staff otherwise simple English is not an issue to communicate. Our butler - Sandip always carry a smile with him, and he ensured we are very well taken care of. Every morning, the team will prepare heat pack and umbrellas for us (it was raining and snowing). In the evening, they made tea and prepared snacks (vary from mochi to sushi) for us upon our returned. The room we booked is Yamano Ichigo (main wing) - just nice for 2. The viewing platform was where we relaxed every evening and we soaked our tiredness away in our very own private onsen at the basement. Despite of having our own private onsen, I still went to visit 3 other public onsen within the Ryokan - you will not be disappointed. Our room came with daily breakfast and we added on dinner for 1 night. I must say the chef and culinary team put in their passion and effort to prepare all the dishes. It’s not common for a visitor like me to taste Kaisekai cuisine which I enjoyed very much. You need to take time and an empty stomach to full experience it :) However, my partner and I weren’t used to heavy breakfast and our butler noticed it - we get to change to western style for the rest of the stay which was equally delicious. We are thankful that we minimised food wastage. Overall, we felt pampered during our stay at Yama no Chaya :) I will return again in the future when I visit Hakone.

GGuest UserAmazing hotel! The rooms are spacious and the beds are very comfortable. The onsen is large and has beautiful views of Mount Fuji from the women's section, but unfortunately, I couldn't see it from the men's. The food was spectacular; I was surprised by the quality, especially for a buffet. The staff, both at reception and in the restaurant, were very friendly and attentive. The only downside would be the location, as it's a bit out of the way, but otherwise, it's excellent.

GGuest UserGreat location, 5 minutes to the train station (which is really in the mountains, so if possible, send your heavy luggage with a delivery service). Breathtaking views of the mountains, trees and other ryokans. Great public onsen, trees in bloom everywhere, petals falling beautifully in the breeze, perfect for relaxing in the spring and enjoying the views. Attached a photo of a paid private onsen in the open air, the free ones are twice as big and just as beautiful. The room is traditional, neat and bright. Breakfasts and dinners are simply gorgeous, they offer a lot of different food, and everything looks as beautiful as it is delicious. Every day they bring different yukata, also change the linen and clean the room. The hotel itself does not look traditional from the outside, but inside it is simply perfect, there was the most gorgeous smoking room I have ever seen.

GGuest UserWe got to the hotel in the beautiful location just before 3pm and we got given a little tour of the place and then got shown to our room. The staff are very friendly and do their best to speak English. A lovely lady was in charge of our hospitality throughout our stay and she first showed us that there is a public hot spring and a private hot spring and asked us if we would like to book a time to use the private hot spring, we booked a time as we checked in but then we didn’t use it as we were happy with our private hot spring in the room. We also booked a time for dinner and they arrived at that time Promptly with A LOT of food. We also got a choice for a staple food and we chose some steak which was high quality and delicious, as well as the lobster (on the menu it said grilled prawn but a lobster is what came and it was delicious). We ordered a few beers and a bottle of wine with room service and it always came quickly and was nice and cold. The private hot spring is absolutely boiling but it’s a good experience and there’s ice water provided which helps. Breakfast came at 8.30am and it was also huge! It didn’t come with coffee but I ordered some and that was easy enough. The lady who served our food explained every dish and how to eat it and she was always extremely friendly and attentive. Would recommend!

GGuest UserTake the Shinkansen from Osaka to Odawara, then transfer to the tram to Hakone Yumoto, and then take a bus to Gora. Two people dragged their suitcases and walked uphill for 15 minutes. They were exhausted. When they arrived at the hotel, they found that they could wait for the train in Gora, and it only took 5 minutes to walk. The hotel facilities are not new, and there are not many guests, mostly Japanese tourists. The hot spring is relatively small, and the water temperature is very high. You have to come out to breathe after soaking for a while. I experienced the private bath and open-air hot spring, and there were a lot of mosquitoes. The food is OK, worthy of the price.

Very Good
SSiehyOverall, my experience staying at the hotel near Gora Station was quite good, but there are a few details to be aware of. The hotel provides a shuttle bus, but getting from Gora Station to the shuttle bus stop requires carrying luggage up and down stairs (20 steps each way) and through an underground tunnel. I wasn't sure if it was possible to walk across the street to the shuttle bus stop. The shuttle bus stop is shared by two lines, so you must check before boarding whether the bus goes to the hotel or somewhere else. The last bus departs at 4:40 PM. The first bus in the morning departs from the hotel to Gora Station at 9:28 AM, a 25-minute journey. The shuttle bus timetable is shown in the photo. I originally planned to have dinner at Gora Station at 5 PM, but since all the restaurants were closed and it was already dark, I had to take the bus included in my 2-day pass back to the hotel (take the 839 bus to Ten-yu and then walk) to eat. The hotel is on the 840 stop. However, the hotel restaurant requires advance reservations, so I ultimately chose to walk 5 minutes to Ten-yu (there's an indoor skybridge connecting the 5th floor of 138 Yunessun-mae) and eat there. Although the hotel is close to Tianyou Hotel, it's located below the road, requiring an uphill walk, and the lighting is poor at night, so I could only use my phone flashlight. The hotel staff were very welcoming and patiently answered my questions, but communication required using Google Translate. The hotel's hot spring facilities are excellent, with five pools that can comfortably accommodate 5 to 7 people. Note that you need to turn on the hot water in the shower and sink in the room yourself; instructions are given upon check-in. Overall, despite some inconveniences, the hotel's service and facilities were satisfactory.
