"My 7 friends and I were hiking the Olle Trail. This hostel is in Seogwipo, right next to the starting point of Olle Trail Route 7 and the certificate collection point. We booked for five nights, but ended up canceling the last three nights after the first night. The reasons were excessive noise and extremely rude front desk staff. Their BBQ night went on until 2 AM. The manager had explicitly told us during check-in that it would end by 11 PM. When I asked the front desk girl if they could lower the volume because it was too loud to sleep, she replied in very broken English: ”This is a hostel, not a hotel. It's a cheap place. You should respect the guests who paid for the BBQ night” (30,000 KRW per person). Seriously? We booked double and twin rooms, not dormitory beds. And at 300-350 RMB per night, this place offers no competitive advantage in the area. The Seogwipo Grand Hotel next door also charges 350 RMB for a twin room, and the Zinc Hotel across the street is 250 RMB. For the following nights, it rained, so there was no BBQ. Plus, we were tired from hiking and didn't want the hassle of moving hotels, so we continued our booking. That means we booked four rooms for five consecutive nights. I'll definitely visit Jeju Island many more times and complete the entire Olle Trail, but I will never stay at this hostel again. P.S.: The middle-aged female manager and the young man named Sam who checked us in were both very kind and helpful."

"I arrived late after sightseeing, but they greeted me warmly. They even provided complimentary tangerines, which was nice because I could enjoy Jeju tangerines early in the morning. First, the water temperature was a bit difficult to control. It took a while for the hot water to come out, and it was so hot that even slightly tilting the shower towards the cold water made it cold quickly, making showering uncomfortable. Second, even though it was only a one-night stay, there were only two towels for two people. Assuming we showered twice a day, there should have been at least four. It was quiet and clean, but I don't think I'll be using it again."

"We were quite disappointed upon arrival. We had specifically booked a mountain view room, but were given a city view room with mountains in the distant background—a view that looked nothing like what was advertised in the hotel’s room listing. When we raised this with the front desk and showed them the discrepancy using a photo comparison (our view vs. the advertised one), we were told that the building had been constructed recently and the room photos hadn’t been updated. However, the buildings obstructing our view clearly appeared not to be new, making that explanation unconvincing. What was even more disappointing was the lack of any effort to rectify the situation. The hotel could have at least offered us an alternative room, even a cheaper one with partial sea and mountain views, but this wasn’t done. We ended up paying a premium for a view that didn’t meet expectations, and left feeling misled. Parking The listing stated free parking, but both nights, the hotel car park was full. We had to park in public areas, and one night, we ended up parking at the roadside due to a lack of space. As foreigners unfamiliar with Korean parking regulations, this caused unnecessary stress—we were worried about the risk of parking fines for potentially illegal parking. Other Concerns There seemed to be extra charges for everything. Only two complimentary bottles of water were provided each night. When we went to the lobby to ask for two paper cups, we were told we had to pay for them. Fortunately, this charge was waived—possibly because they were aware of our parking issue—but it still left a negative impression."

"Old hotel in a great location - busy intersection. Walkable to waterfall and to market. The basement carpark is a godsend. We were so happy to be able to park in the basement then take the lift direct to our room. Its so helpful on rainy days. If you do not speak Korean, and your rental vehicle GPS cannot locate the hotel it can be very tricky. Our GPS pointed us to a carpark space behind the hotel and it was difficult navigating out. It was lucky that we recognise the building exterior. In Jeju, most smaller hotels will not put their English names on the building, so either you memorize the Korean name or you have to try your luck. The room is small, but expected as the room rate is low. So taper your expectations and you will love it."

"Travelled in March and the temperature is 12 degrees Celsius outside. The air conditioner is not working so i checked with the counter staff and she said that heater is turned on. It is totally unbearable as the air conditioner is only blowing out hot air. Hence i have to open the windows to let the outside air enter my room. Counter staff was not friendly."

"It is close to Seogwipo Olle Market and the intercity bus terminal. A guesthouse renovated from the old Midojang. A good place to stay for a day or two. I visited Mido Hostel again for the first time in almost 10 years. I accidentally stayed for 5 consecutive nights, forgetting my age, and in a dormitory at that. There was nothing uncomfortable about sleeping, but I was embarrassed by the shared restrooms and bathrooms. It was exactly the same as before. The shared kitchen has been replaced by a container on the rooftop, and the reception area where the kitchen used to be has been changed into a bar or cafe. I felt like I would be a nuisance, so I didn't even think about going to the cafe except to ask for a towel. In the evening, a small party, like a dinner gathering, was held among the guests. I think it would be a good experience for young people."
