"Where we stayed is superbly strategic to lots of food streets and Dali highlights. If you book two nights at this hotel, you will get a 1-day free usage of their electric scooter to explore around. We rode to the Longkan Pier at the Erhai Lake, Caicun Wharf, Chang’er Avenue and the Three Pagoda. Dali has created friendly lanes for bicycles and e-bikes, so it is easy to ride around the city. With only less than 48 hours, we managed to cover most of the highlights and tried their local Bai ethnic cuisine. The hotel is quite relaxing with a nicely decorated lobby. The main staff is helpful and friendly too. Recommended to stay here."

"We will be back! This felt like a home away from home, except it had such a wonderful view of the lake. The host was super friendly and helpful. The location was perfect, close to the railway station, which was very handy for us as we came over from Kunming and then went back. You're close to many of the central places and with DiDi taxi, it's super easy to get around from here. We will for sure book here again; we're already planning a visit back."

"Before I came, the weather forecast said it would rain every day in Dali, and I was quite worried. But when I arrived, the weather was actually great, with blue skies and white clouds – perfect for photos! I booked a hotel inside the Ancient City for easier travel. The room was clean and comfortable, and the overall hotel environment was lovely; it looked exactly like the pictures. Although it's within the Ancient City, it was incredibly quiet, and I slept very soundly at night. The room I booked had a view of Cangshan Mountain, which was fantastic. The front desk lady, though petite, was super strong and helped us carry our luggage to the room. When I checked out, I accidentally left something behind, and she promptly contacted me and even helped me mail it. She was truly wonderful! [rose emoji]"

"We absolutely loved our stay at Shanyuyishe Boutique B&B in Dali Ancient City. The location was perfect for us — tucked away in a peaceful corner near Dali Ancient City, yet only a short walk to the shops, cafés, and attractions. What truly made the stay special was the hospitality. The owner was incredibly warm and welcoming, helping us with our luggage, preparing breakfast every morning, and always making sure we were comfortable. The breakfast was simple but delicious, especially the rice noodles, which we looked forward to each morning. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. We especially loved the beautiful courtyard and the overall peaceful atmosphere. A couple of things to note for families and travellers with larger luggage. The beautiful courtyard has a koi pond running through parts of it, which adds to the charm, but I was constantly keeping an eye on my kids as I was worried they might accidentally fall in. Thankfully, nothing happened, but it’s something parents with young children may want to be aware of. Another consideration is luggage. Vehicles can stop near the property, but you’ll still need to carry your luggage across parts of the courtyard. If you’re staying on Levels 2 or 3, there is no lift, so luggage has to be carried up manually. The owner was kind enough to help us, but it’s still worth considering if you’re travelling with multiple large suitcases. For our family room, one small downside was that although the room was very spacious, there was only one air-conditioner serving the entire unit. The smaller bedroom felt a little stuffy and warm at night. That said, the owner was very responsive and quickly provided us with a fan the next day, which made a huge difference and solved the issue for us. Overall, the warmth of the host, comfortable rooms, delicious breakfast, and peaceful setting far outweighed these minor inconveniences. We’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a cosy and authentic stay in Dali. ❤️🏔️✨"

"I accidentally found the newly opened homestay in Bay Bridge, and the experience is full! The authentic Bai people's houses run by the locals are elegantly decorated, with exquisite sculptures of the special walls, and full of Bai people's customs. The location is excellent, very close to the Bohai Sea, it is also very convenient to go to S Bay, and it is super comfortable to go out for a walk to see the sea. The room is fully equipped with a constant temperature kettle, the details are intimate, comparable to the five-star hotel, especially friendly to traveling with children. The manager is warm and hospitable, treats people sincerely, and also intimately upgrades the room for us. The small courtyard is quiet and comfortable, and it is comfortable to live. It is highly recommended!"

"This beachfront trip led me to an absolutely perfect sea-view B&B, and the overall experience totally exceeded my expectations! The cleanliness was impeccable; there was no musty smell upon entering, and the bedding was pristine, fluffy, and felt dry and hair-free. The entire floor and all the corners were wiped down spotlessly, and the bathroom counter had no standing water. The location is superb, just a few steps to the beach, with plenty of restaurants and convenience stores nearby, making sightseeing incredibly convenient. The owner and staff were exceptionally thoughtful, sending parking and travel tips in advance, and were always on hand when needed. The room itself boasts a huge private balcony with a leisure table and chairs, offering direct, breathtaking sea views. The bathroom features standard wet/dry separation, with a clearly defined shower and vanity area, so the floor dries quickly after use. All the appliances and furniture are brand new, making for an incredibly comfortable stay. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a sea view!"

But what impressed me most was the hospitality and service—especially from Joy. From picking us up at the train station, to helping us arrange an EV bike rental (even though we eventually decided not to), to personally taking us to dinner and recommending dishes, trusting us with her dog Hamburg, and specially arranging for us to be dropped off at the station when we left even though she was busy with work. Joy made sure everything was well taken care of. She is a true asset to the guesthouse: friendly, sincere in her kind gestures without expecting anything in return, helpful, and genuinely welcoming. What we admire most is that Joy treats her dog as a family member. She is truly a person filled with loving kindness and will always be blessed for this. The part we appreciated most was getting to spend quality time with her dog, Hamburg, who brought us so much happiness and filled our days with joy. Hamburg is a loving dog with a heart of gold. Anyone especially dog lovers would truly fall in love with him. Together, Joy and Hamburg make the best combination. They brought smiles and joy to us. They are the real assets of the place. We hope they will be greatly rewarded. Thank you, Joy, for giving us the best souvenir in China—Hamburg's most loved toy. This is the best gift ever! She has the willingness to learn and the kind of down-to-earth attitude that most hotel owners don't. We felt comfortable being with her, and she even hosted a farewell dinner for us. What we love most is that she is an animal lover and even included Hamburg in the dinner. She has a heart full of compassion. We had a great time together, and the night ended with smiles and laughter. We started as strangers but ended as friends.🙂 We were reluctant to leave after three nights, and if given the chance, we would love to extend our stay to a week in the future. This place is truly a gem, thanks to the wonderful management and the people behind it. We will surely recommend friends to your guesthouse—it is a gem hidden in Dali. I stayed in both a room with a balcony and one with a bay window, and I loved both of them. The breakfast was also good; while there weren't many options, sometimes the auntie would freshly make rice noodles or regular noodles.

WWudiniangaozaiThis guesthouse was one of the accommodations I was most looking forward to during my trip to Dali, and I'm so glad it met my expectations! I didn't do much research before booking; I just stumbled upon a recommendation on a social media platform, and the view looked so amazing that I booked it right away. First, let's talk about the location. Since I didn't read up much beforehand, I only realized upon arrival that there are very few dining options nearby – almost no restaurants at all. Luckily, we had rented a car, which made things a bit easier. The owner is incredibly thoughtful and provides excellent service, helping with luggage and giving great recommendations. The resident cat, Saipan, is a bit aloof but very good-tempered; you can pet him all you want. It's a shame I only stayed for a short time. The view from this room type is fantastic, and in the evening, with the lights on, it feels so warm and cozy. I hope to come back and stay for a few days next time when I'm not in a hurry. Oh, and the room is also super photogenic!

However, the location was not very convenient as it was a bit far from shops, with only one small convenience store nearby. Everything about this stay—from the location and decor to the impeccable cleanliness and service—deserves 10 stars. The Mo sisters are incredibly friendly, chatty, and helpful, making the entire place feel like a beautifully maintained, quaint home. A few highlights: Thoughtful Details: The beds come equipped with heating pads for colder nights, which was such a nice touch. Amenities: I absolutely loved the peaceful courtyard and the rooftop area. Service: They are very attentive; for instance, if you need brighter reading lights, you just have to ask. GGuest UserThe hotel is very close to the ancient city, just a five-minute walk away, and it has free parking. When you arrive, you can enjoy the hotel's homemade flower cakes and walnuts – I'm really bummed I missed out on the hotel breakfast! The service was also very satisfying, and the room was large and beautiful. It's excellent value for money. I stayed here a few years ago and loved it so much that when I came back to Dali, I booked the same room type at the same hotel again! The only thing is the bamboo forest seemed smaller, maybe it was the wrong season. I'll definitely come back again to experience it.

GGuest UserDali Ma Jiuyi and then take a look at the sea view courtyard inn is amazing! The facilities are high-end, the room is very well equipped, the large floor-to-ceiling windows have a wide view, and the bathtub is simply enjoyable to watch the sunset. The environment is beautiful, the courtyard flowers and plants are scattered, and the sea view terrace is a blockbuster. The service is super intimate, the butler is warm and thoughtful, free luggage pick-up and drop-off, and fruit is also delivered. The hygiene is impeccable, the bedding is clean and soft, the daily deep cleaning, and even the corners are spotless. Definitely the first choice for a holiday on the Erhai Sea!
