"The bunk bed was so large compare to average bed size with comfy and clean blanket and sheet. There is personal locker with key, lamp, charge station, body and face towel, slipper, and free flow kimono and amenities. The soap, shampoo, body lotion, and face wash are provided. I think it is super fantastic compared to the cheap price. We can use public onsen (male and females are in different rooms so it is so convenient). From 15.00-22.00, in the Lake-View Lounge, we can drink and eat snacks for free: all kinds of alcohol, various soft drinks machines, coffee machines, beer, ice, tea, etc. So fantastic!!!!! There are library and game corners as well. This hotel is just across the Chuzenji Lake, 900m from Kegon lake. There is one and only convenient store (10mins by walk from hotel) which is open 08.00-20.00. Even though there are view restaurants nearby, however, you must be aware that food here is quite difficult to access. Restaurants mostly close as early as 3 or 4 pm. I will definitely come here again."

"We were absolutely thrilled with our stay at Kaniyu Onsen. The journey there was a Jochen Schweitzer experience in itself! By train from Kita Senju to Kinugawaonsen (1.5 hours), then by bus to Meotobuchi (1.5 hours) and then by Onsen Shuttle (20 minutes). Booking on site without knowing Japanese was an adventure! But everything worked out perfectly, thanks in part to the very helpful women at the tourist information office and what a beautiful landscape during the journey! When we arrived at the Onsen, English was spoken quite well and everything was explained in detail. One thing that was very important to us was that tattoos are tolerated, but you should be considerate of the other visitors. This means that you can swim when there is no one else in the pool or cover it with a towel. We didn't go into the large communal pool until very late. Before that we had only been in the small pools, where you are not seen very much. The dinner is also very unusual. As a European you have to get involved in it and for me, who doesn't eat fish, it was a bit of a challenge. But you only experience something like that once, so they do it!! We thought it was great and would come back anytime! Thank you for the great time!"

"Must have expirience in Japan. Room was huge and comfortable. There was an AC and air filter in the room. View from the window was beautifull. Personel was very helpfull and traditional breakfest and dinner was an exrraordinarry expirience. The only minus of the hotel was bad small, mostly in the bedroom. It looks like The hotell fights with it best it can but it seems like its because its and Old traditional building. Anywayes it was an amazing expirience. I definitelly recomend you this hotel."

"The onsen hotel can easily be assessed by bus, just 5 minutes walk after getting off the bus, in fact they have car park too. It is very near to the ferry pier and the view was terrific, every room has a balcony with lake view. It was runned by the owner and her family members. An unique onsen hotel with quiet and peaceful enviornment where we can relax after a long day's journey. The owner and staff were very attentive and care for their guests. My friend was sick, the owner offered her medicine oil to rub her stomach and let her rest in the waiting area even after check-out. The food was so very delicious and it was one of the best onsen food I ever have so far. I would highly recommend to anyone who want to spend a night in Nikko. I will consider to stay in this onsen hotel again in future."

"The hotel itself is not bad, the rooms are spacious. But it was not possible to connect to the Internet, you need a Chinese phone number. Perhaps the staff could help with this, but I did not have time to figure it out. From the capital's airport T2 / T3 there is a bus to the hotel. It runs once an hour. They write that you need to request it in advance, but without knowing Chinese, you can not do this over the phone. I asked the staff at the information desk at the airport to help me with this. "An affordable hotel with its own small onsen. In the evenings, I always had it to myself, which was wonderful! The hotel might not be brand new, but the room was fully equipped with everything I needed – a kettle, a fridge, and a hairdryer. It's located a 15-minute walk from the station, which I didn't find inconvenient at all. I traveled to Nikko every day, using my all-area Free Pass, and the journey, with one transfer, took about 1 to 1.5 hours. For this price, only hostels were available in Nikko. But here, I got a proper hotel with spacious rooms."

"Exceeded expectations, the room is large, the facilities are complete, the breakfast and dinner are delicious, there are many Japanese and Western varieties, although there are many people, the order is in place, and the management is in place. The river view room has the Kinu River outside the window, the scenery is good, but the sound of the water is a bit noisy. The hot spring area is also very clean, there are indoor and outdoor pools, and you can smell a strong smell of sulfur. After coming out of Kinu River Station, you will pass a cherry blossom avenue and arrive at the hotel. There is also a Kinu River Bridge nearby that is worth seeing."

"About 10 minutes by bus from Tobu Nikko Station, right next to the Nikko Botanical Garden stop. Along the way, there is a stop called ``Shinkyo'', which is close to the approach to Nikko Toshogu Shrine. The nearest bus stop is for Chuzenji Onsen, making it convenient for going to Kegon Falls. The exterior is a three-story Western-style building surrounded by trees, and the interior and large public bath (hot spring) with open-air bath were well-maintained and lovely. This is a hotel that I would like to stay at regularly."

"Having read both the good and bad reviews, I visited with mixed expectations and trepidation. I figured a few things would be ok, considering the price included two meals and it was a weekend during the autumn foliage season, but I was pleasantly surprised. The owner's service was simply wonderful. He was polite, kind, and humorous, and he even gave me information about traffic congestion and recommended local spots. The hotel itself wasn't new, but it was well-maintained, and there was an open-air bath in my room, so although I didn't try out the outdoor baths, the bath was nice. The only problem I had was that I had to walk up and down quite a few stairs to get to my room, and wearing slippers and socks made it difficult to walk. All the food was delicious, too. I'd definitely stay at this hotel again if I visit Nikko."

"I would really like to give this place a full five star because of the spacious room and good service but the location was quite far from the main station and shuttle buses were limited (only 3x per day to the station and back). Taxis from the station to the hotel costs around 900 yen (additional booking fees would be incurred if the hotel books for you as opposed to hailing one along the streets) which is ok but when you need it too often (because it can get really dark at night on the route without street lights), it’s additional costs to factor in. Having said that, it is a peaceful place to be with the mountain view at the back of the hotel. Free drinks were provided and I like the spacious dining / living area which is really good for groups to have debrief. Hotel staff were also really helpful in giving recommendations for food as restaurants tend to close quite early and they also helped me to call a cab on my last day."
