"The location is absolutely fantastic, just a three to four-minute walk from Tobu Nikko Station. It's incredibly convenient, as the buses to all the attractions are right outside the station. Nikko isn't a big city, and most shops close by 5 PM, but the hotel is near a larger supermarket. They have everything from fruits and snacks to main meals, and it stays open quite late. The hotel also offers breakfast and has a self-service drink machine."

"An affordable hotel with its own small onsen. In the evenings, I always had it to myself, which was wonderful! The hotel might not be brand new, but the room was fully equipped with everything I needed – a kettle, a fridge, and a hairdryer. It's located a 15-minute walk from the station, which I didn't find inconvenient at all. I traveled to Nikko every day, using my all-area Free Pass, and the journey, with one transfer, took about 1 to 1.5 hours. For this price, only hostels were available in Nikko. But here, I got a proper hotel with spacious rooms."

"Wonderful! The staff was the highlight of this hotel. Attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, and simply superb! Great location right across the lake and near the falls and shrines. Glas we opted to have breakfast and dinner here too. The chef is spectacular and the food was delicious. The sauna inside was clean and at a perfect temperature after a day's hike. "It is about 5 minutes drive from Kinugawa JR Station. It is suitable for self-driving travel. Guests have hot spring discounts. Each room only needs 450 yen. The hot spring environment is good. The Japanese-style room has a good view and the decoration is relatively new. "It’s been such a nice stay, the room is large and clean, the traditional decor is perfectly introduced into the vibe of Nikko. The dinner and breakfast were perfectly served. Plus, they have a very nice souvenir shop on the first floor, bought a few socks there. Finally, the onsen was brilliant, also large room and a small onsen outside on a balcony. I regret staying only for one night."

"While the building itself is a bit old, both the rooms and bathrooms were clean. Dinner and breakfast were served buffet-style, and for the price, it felt like excellent value for money. Being able to choose our own yukata was a delightful touch. It's about a 10-minute walk to the station, but a paid shuttle service is also available. They also offer amenities like a manga corner, karaoke, and table tennis. There's an on-site souvenir shop, and we enjoyed a 10% discount in the evening, making our purchases very affordable. I would definitely stay here again if I get the chance."

Great
AavlatkaIt is far from Tobu Niko station and relatively close to the main attractions. Of the pluses, two private onsens can be accommodated in two or three. One is laid out with a tile, the other is stone (used by a great demand, understandable case). If you take the onsen, no one will enter it anymore. To let the guests know whether the onsen is free and which special signal lamps are made, it is convenient. The Onsens work from 16 to 23 hours, so it is impossible to get down in the morning. Like I think, the water is cold and the rooms are closed - I love outdoors.
The breakfast was unexpected, but they are fed exclusively with different baking (for a long time, so many tests have not eaten). It is also possible to buy frozen dishes for cheap and immediately distribute them in a microwave.
In the bathroom and toilet room, the yucata is issued on demand.
A beautiful living room where you can sit in the evening (if not too many guests). Here, where to sit in the street evening, it is not very clear, because near the Onsens there is a smoke zone with shops, but there is not a very nice smell.
HHoSVery old school ryokan run by very friendly who has been working there for many years. Your name will be displayed on the board next to the entrance of the ryokan to show that they were currently welcoming these guests staying at the ryokan! We stayed there for 2 nights with free parking and we didn’t have to drive anywhere until we checked out as the ryokan is within walking distance to the 3 major world heritage listed shrines including The Toshogu Palace.
Avoid room 312 or 313 (which we stayed) which are the smallest rooms. Those rooms in the middle parts are bigger and more comfortable. Do ask for any room facing the back of the ryokan and avoid those facing the front where you only see car parks with coaches coming in the morning bringing tourists to the shrines.
The onsite Onsen for ryokan guests, breakfasts and dinners are the highlights. You’d love the traditional Japanese meals served there and you won’t be hungry.
Would I come back to this ryokan again? Yes definitely due to its location and friendly staff.
KKongkongwukongkongQuiet! The breakfast and dinner are so rich that I am not hungry at noon after eating a full meal in the morning, hahahaha, the hot spring is so comfortable, and there is free coffee in the lobby, which is great
GGuest UserThe exterior of the hotel is pretty, but the interior of the hotel is dated and needs a bit of updating. There were parts of the hotel that were completely shut down (maybe there are saving up enough money to one day renovate). However the facilities and rooms are well maintained and the onsens are beautiful and peaceful. There are 2 main onsens, that are separated by men and women. Each day the onsens are switched, in the morning you will go to one, and in the evening before dinner you can experience the other onsen. Onsite there is a really nice restaurant and gift shop that featured local products at reasonable prices. There is a 24 hour coffee/tea station that is free to use. It's a short 10 minute walk from Kinugawa Onsen Station. When you arrive they provide you a yukata to wear while you are staying at the hotel. The rooms are spacious with options for a western bed or japanese style (sleeping on the floor). We opted for the western bed to be higher off the ground as we thought it would be colder to sleep on the ground. Although the rooms are very well heated and was a bit too warm, that we needed to open the window to cool the room down. The rooms have nice views of the countryside. They provide a pitcher of ice water in the room and you can go to the front desk to refill with ice if more is needed. The bathroom is quite large and has both a shower and toilet in a separate room of the bathroom; although we mostly bathed in the onsen. There is a 7-eleven nearby that was open 24 hours, but otherwise there isn't much else around the hotel. Also the town of Kinugawa Onsen closes quite early, around 8pm it's quite deserted. We were there at the end of November 2024, and it seemed that the hotel was mostly unoccupied, so we felt like we had the place to ourselves. It was a very nice one night stay.
GGuest UserThe location is really good. 10 mins away from the station. Easy to find. Big hotel, about 11 floors. The room is quite spacious, part in western style with beds and part in japaneese with tatamis. There is sink in themiddle of the room, quite comfy. Good view to the mountain and forest from the window, 9th floor. Nice yukata to wear, i liked the outerpart. Breakfast and dinner is buffet, quite big choice, free beer for dinner, not so many fruits, no cakes for breakfast (dinner only). There is sushi and sashimi choice, delicious food. Onsen is quite good, clean, big. Will recommend to stay here
JJCtravellerThe hotel is equipped with an open air parking block of around 15 spaces, which I assume it's first come
first serve basis. When we arrived on a monday night (Mid august) around 9pm to check in there was only one parking space left.
Check in -and out are done in a compartment next to the parking spaces, self serviced on a tablet with quite a few language options (english, chinese....).
Our room was spacious and even came equipped with a projector (poppin Alladin) which the kids enjoyed for watching movies.
There was a laundry machine inside the room, with laundry detergent provided, and drying rack.
Enough clean towels were provided for our family during the stay so we did not need to wash the towels.
However as there was no in room housekeeping service, the litter processing was done by ourselves (perhaps the only inconvenience we found in living in this motel).
YyuanyuanI liked a warm hotel very much, the room was super super big, and after the hotel communicated, I could take the decisive choice of the baby, booked the breakfast and dinner, and they were very rich, the seats were cooked and timed. There are very few warm-hearted public soups, and children like them very much. I will think about this next time I come to Nikko. On the first floor, you can buy special products, buy a lot, give a discount, the husband who is responsible for the cashier, the mother-in-law who served the dishes are super good.
GGuest UserI don’t understand why someone would leave a negative review due to their own negligence. Trip.com clearly mentioned the additional 300-yen tax (I assume this is the onsen tax) per person, yet they still claimed they were “scammed.”
My overall experience at Hotel Euro City was wonderful. The staff were extremely nice and helpful, and the shuttle bus service was amazing. If you want to get to the hotel easily, check the shuttle schedule on the hotel’s homepage so you don’t have to walk from the station. They run it every day at 9:00, 9:30, 10:00, 15:15, 16:15, 17:15, and 18:15 from “Nikko Station Hotel Classic,” right next to JR Nikko Station.
The room was spacious and comfortable, and the onsen in the backyard was great. It’s true that the room had a mild smell, but I assume it was due to recent pest control (it smelled like pesticide). Just open the windows for a while and it goes away.
Breakfast was okay—not as fancy as in the advertisements, maybe because it wasn’t peak season. Overall, I think this is a very good choice, especially if you’re traveling with family.
KevinThe most important buffet dinner during the stay was served very late, and the dishes were often empty, which is very rare in Japan.
Because it was less than 700 yuan and included two meals, although the hotel had many flaws, it was understandable, but the faucet in the room seemed to be broken, and the water flow was not smooth, which should be replaced.
Overall, this room was acceptable.
