Lake Sainte-Croix, also known as Lake Sainte-Croix, is located in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department of France on the southwestern edge of the Alps. Lake Sainte-Croix is ​​an artificial lake formed by the reinforced concrete arch dam built between 1971 and 1974 to form the Sainte-Croix Dam. Its water comes from the Verdon River at the outlet of the Verdon Gorge, as well as natural rainfall. The reservoir's maximum water storage capacity is 761 million cubic meters. The dam is 94 meters high, 7.5 meters thick at the bottom and 3 meters thick at the top, and can generate 142 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year. The village of Les Salles-sur-Verdon, destroyed by the construction of a reservoir, was rebuilt and is now located on the shore of the lake. Other villages around the lake are Sainte-Croix-du-Verdon and Baudouin. France has a long coastline, but lake resources are very scarce, so the lake scenery, which is not very worthwhile to see, is infinitely magnified.
