Ton Son Temple

#dreamtrip Wat Ton Son is an ancient temple. It is believed that it was built in the late Ayutthaya period, around 2310. Inside the temple is a Buddha statue in the attitude of subduing Mara, named Somdet Phra Phutthanawalokkuttarambodi Si Mueang Thong or Somdet Phra Si Mueang Thong. It was built by Phra Ratcha Suwannamoli, the former abbot of Wat Ton Son. The large Buddha statue is cast entirely from metal and covered in real gold lacquer. It has a very beautiful appearance.
