"Wat Makut Kasatriyaram" is the last temple that "King Mongkut" (Rama IV) built before his death. "Wat Makut Kasatriyaram Ratchaworawihan" is one of the five important temples of "King Mongkut" (Rama IV) graciously ordered to be built. The word "Makut Kasatriyaram" means the temple of the king named "Mongkut" because his original name was "Chao Fa Mongkut". When "King Mongkut" (Rama IV) ascended to the throne in 1851, he thought that the city walls and Khlong Bang Lamphu, which were dug as a moat at that time, were still too narrow and close to the Grand Palace.
