Wat Trithatthep

Wat Trithotsathep was built by “Phra Ong Chao Supradit, Krom Muen Witsanu Nath Niphathorn”, the founder of the Supradit family, the son of King Rama IV. His palace was located on the bank of Khlong Bang Lamphu, but he passed away in 1862. “Phra Ong Chao Nopphawong, Krom Muen Mahesuan Siwilas”, the founder of the Nopphawong family, was an elder brother of the same mother, Chao Chom Manda Noi, the first royal consort of King Rama IV. He continued the construction but passed away before it was finished in 1867. King Rama IV then continued the construction until it was finished. The word Trithotsathep probably means that the three of them built the temple together.
