It was originally named Wat Kae and Wat Lao because this area was home to a community of Lao people who migrated to settle in Bangkok. 🏰Later, it became a deserted temple until Thanpuying Sut, wife of Chao Phraya Wichian Khiri (Men Na Songkhla), requested permission from King Rama V to renovate the chapel and named it Wat Suthiwararam. Wat Suthiwararam has many beautiful architectures and paintings, including: 🙏Phra Phutthasiri Sutthisawat or Luang Pho Phra Yai is enshrined behind the chapel, an extension of Buddhist art from the principal Buddha image inside the chapel. 🙏Thao Wessuwan Maharach and Thao Kuvera Maharach are located on the left and right of Luang Pho Phra Yai. 🏰 2-storey marble chapel, the lower floor enshrines the principal Buddha image in the Mara-Vijaya posture, Sukhothai art style, built by Thanpuying Sut during the reign of King Rama VI, and a white marble Buddha image. 🖼 There are 38 auspicious puzzles on the ceiling, lacquered and gilded, and puzzle murals. 🙏 The second floor of the chapel enshrines the Buddha image that was invited from Wat Phraya Krai since the reign of King Rama V.
