Worship Luang Pho To at Wat Taphan

🏡Wat Thasanarun Suntharikararam, according to the Department of Religious Affairs, was built in 1777. It was originally named Wat Taphan because the donor who built the temple was Ta Phan, so the temple was named Wat Ta Phan. Later, it was changed to Wat Taphan. Another assumption is that there was a bridge in front of the temple crossing the Samsen Canal, so it was called Wat Saphan, but people at that time might have mispronounced it as Wat Taphan. 🏠The name Wat Thasanarun Suntharikararam comes from Mom Run, a wealthy merchant who donated money to renovate the temple, thus giving it the new name Wat Thasanarun Suntharikararam. Important and interesting things within the temple include: 🙏Luang Pho To, a Sukhothai-style Buddha image over 700 years old. It is said that the head of the Buddha image was used to create Luang Pho To, which is believed to have been built in the same period as Phra Buddha Chinarat. 🏠The vihara covering Luang Pho To was built after the creation of Luang Pho To. The foundation of the vihara and the base supporting the Buddha image are made of large bricks.
