The wealthiest family that settled in Gyo-dong, Gyeongju in 1779 is starting out with a new name, 'House of Choi', and is trying to continue the regional value of Gyeongju through various cultural outlets. The recently opened cafe, East 1779, is one of them. This is a remodeled version of the only Western-style house in the Gyodong Hanok Village, and the contrast of the red bricks under the black roof tiles is impressive. The interior is also beautiful, reminiscent of a gallery, with graceful, curved sculptures placed throughout. The beautiful garden spread out beyond the window is a work of art in itself. The menu currently available at East 1779 includes Americano, Latte, and the signature Cream Latte, as well as Cacao and Peach drinks.
