Phetchaburi: A 3-Day Romantic Journey Through Siam's Past

On the map of Thailand, Phetchaburi shines like a hidden gem, exuding a unique ancient charm and romance. With perfect timing, I embarked on this 3-day, 2-night trip to Phetchaburi to explore the enchanting allure of this small city. On my first day in Phetchaburi, the sun gently bathed the ancient streets. My first stop was the historic old town, where the unique architectural style blends Chinese, Portuguese, and Thai elements. Strolling along the narrow streets, the stone pavements underfoot whispered stories of the past. The shops lining the streets were filled with a dazzling array of goods, and the traditional handicraft shops showcased exquisite wood carvings and hand-painted porcelain that were hard to resist. I stepped into a local cafe, ordered a cup of rich Thai coffee, sat by the window, admired the street view, and savored the leisurely pace of this small city. In the afternoon, I headed to the banks of the Phetchaburi River. The river flowed gently, its banks lined with lush trees. I rented a small boat and drifted along the river, enjoying the cool breeze on my face. Along the way, I saw stilt houses on both sides of the river, scattered among the green trees, showcasing the rich Thai countryside charm.
