Wat Chao Prab

#VisitAyutthaya Wat Chao Prab is an important ancient temple in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. It is located on U Thong Road, Pratu Chai Subdistrict, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya District, near the Chao Phraya River, opposite Wat Phutthaisawan. It is currently an abandoned temple. There is no evidence of when it was built or who built it. It is an important area near the Ayutthaya tin warehouse and near Thanon Lek or the ancient Lek Market Road, which is a road paved with bricks about 85 cm thick. According to history, it is about 1 km long with a moat on both sides of the road. It is probably a moat dug up to fill the road. The temple builder was probably a royal who had an important duty in protecting the country. He may have had the duty of controlling the production of weapons. Therefore, he had the position of Chao Prab. In the royal court tradition book during the Ayutthaya period, according to the police duty book, Wat Chao Prab was mentioned as "If you go to see temples in the city outside the capital, if in the city, it is like going to Wat Chao Prab, you will travel in a palanquin." The word "Chao Prab" should therefore be an important word at that time. Wat Chao Prab is a temple with a large area. There are important ancient sites, namely a chedi, an ordination hall, and a pavilion. #wattosann
