[Hokkaido] JR Hokkaido's Nemuro Main Line heading to the easternmost point of Japan

#0yentravel The Nemuro Main Line runs from Takikawa Station in central Hokkaido to Nemuro Station, the easternmost station in Japan. However, due to damage caused by a typhoon in 2023, the Furano-Shintoku section, including Higashi-Kagoshi-Shintoku, which had been suspended, was abolished and the line was divided into two. Limited express trains run between Shintoku and Kushiro and there are a certain number of passengers, but the line is still suffering from large losses and is in financial difficulty. However, the line is an attractive route with magnificent views of the Tokachi Plain, the Pacific Ocean, and marshes. There are also express buses, but if you are visiting eastern Hokkaido, I would recommend using the Nemuro Main Line.
