Stanley The Travel ManI arrived in pouring rain. I thought I could walk to my hotel but it was impossible in the downpour. I didn’t want to bother any hotel owner. I didn’t and still don’t have an eSIM that can make local call but thanks to Trip.com, there is a link that I could call the owner for free. I didn’t advise the owners my arrival time so they were off running errands. I called the owner to pick me up and thankfully he answered. He was busy but gracious enough to turn around and picked me up. It knew Zhouhuang requires a ticket but I didn’t know that no cars, nor motorcycles, nor bicycles are allowed. Without him I would have arrived the hotel easily.
I always like to meet the owners instead of employees . They were very helpful and answered all my questions. They are honest people who dedicate their blood and sweat to their business. The owner even offered to walk me to the bus stop to Suzhou which was my next destination.
This operates two hotels with 9 in one and 6 in the other. The one that I stayed in with 9 rooms is in a lively and busy area . Just outside the hotel is a restaurant and there are plenty of places to eat. Inside the hotel is a peaceful oasis where you won’t hear any noise. The location is the best. The other hotel is in a quieter neighborhood a few minutes away. Each of the 15 rooms has it’s own personality, is different and has its distinctive decoration. The owners said they decorated them themselves. I love the decoration and especially the lighting.
After you reserve a room, be sure to contact the owner for the exact address in case you want to arrive on your own. I think it is best to request the owner to take you there because he/she will lead you to the ticket booth to buy tickets. There are a number of bridges so heavy big luggages can be a bit of a challenge . If you arrive after 5 pm, you can enter free of charge as no one is there to check your ticket. . But once you are inside, and if you choose to leave the area after 8 or 9 am until 5 pm, you have to pay to come back in. You can buy a one day or in my case 3 days pass. Do check with the owner for up to date information.
The room was quite clean. There were hot water all the time. There were other guests during my stay but they were not noisy at all. I barely heard them. I slept very well during my 3 nights there.
Zhouhuang is really beautiful. There are many canals, bridges, boat rides, good food of all kinds. I had some of the best meals there. In fact , I ate in the same restaurant that serves dumpling twice. One night I had grill (BBQ) meat just outside the entrance for 4 yuans. . There is decent size supermarket just outside the turnstile and not too far away is a much bigger supermarket. It was there where I bought half a Peking duck for only 32 yuans . The seller sliced the meat and separated the meat from the bones. The bones he fried so it was crunchy. It was delicious. There is a theater that offers performances.
The night view is great. If you step out your room, you will be overwhelmed in a good sense by the exciting surroundings.
This hotel definitely is one of the best that I have ever stayed in. Look at the beautiful pictures and find one that you like.
I stayed only 3 nights and one of those days I went to Tongli. In my opinion, one should spend at least 2 to 3 full days in Zhouhuang (and especially this hotel ) savor the ambience. I don’t think Tongli is worth the time because it was twice as expensive and there are not that many canals and boat rides. It is much quieter and has fewer things to see. . The worst is that the sightseeing places require you to show your ticket. After 2 places, I lost mine ticket and I couldn’t get in the rest of the places. It is unnecessary to require proof of entrance because you can’t enter the area without a ticket.

Feifeifei12134As a seasoned traveler with extensive luxury hotel experience (having stayed in nearly a hundred and being a 'Black Diamond Partner'), this was my first time trying the Kimpton brand. My main reason for choosing this hotel was my strong interest in Kengo Kuma's concept of a 'granular structure' Suzhou garden landscape, and I wanted to experience it. The result, I must say, far exceeded my expectations.
On the night of my check-in, it was a stormy evening. Under the interplay of wall washers and granular lighting, a beautiful rain curtain formed over the classical eaves. Coupled with the white noise, the quality of sleep significantly improved, and the ambiance was just right.
My choice of the 'Cool Garden Water View King Room' was an absolute highlight. The room was spacious and airy, blending the elegance of Suzhou gardens with modern minimalist design. The attention to detail in the room's amenities, a testament to HBA Interior Design, was evident and far surpassed what one would expect at this price point. The room featured a Serta mattress, a capsule coffee machine, and custom-scented bath amenities (available for purchase at the gift shop). What's more, the body wash, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion each had a unique scent! This is a significant step up from most luxury brands that often offer a single citrus scent across the board. The first round of mini-bar drinks was also complimentary, and it's worth noting that the selection featured unique local specialties like 'Wang Shanzha' (hawthorn drink) and white peach soda, rather than just standard colas, showcasing a thoughtful integration of local flavors.
Of course, the impeccable and attentive service is a must-mention in this review, easily comparable to (if not surpassing) the butler service at domestic St. Regis hotels (where butler service often isn't 'in-person' unlike in Europe or other Asian St. Regis properties). Our butler, Vickey, proactively added me on WeChat before check-in and was consistently responsive and thoughtful throughout our stay. Whether I was inquiring about hotel facilities, nearby attractions, or had any spontaneous requests, she responded instantly and resolved them efficiently. The hotel's location is also very convenient, nestled in the old city of Gusu – a tranquil retreat amidst the hustle and bustle – making it easy to access attractions like the Humble Administrator's Garden and Pingjiang Road. From the top-notch hardware to the warm service, this stay was flawless, and I will definitely choose this hotel again on my next visit to Suzhou.

I always choose to stay here whenever I'm in Wuxi, and it's consistently a fantastic experience. The front desk service is excellent and attentive, the rooms are spotlessly clean, and the facilities are well-equipped. This is my absolute go-to for accommodation in Wuxi! Highly recommend!

Guest UserExploring Suzhou, I was fortunate to stay at Jiangnan Zhizao Mansion. This visit felt like stepping into a Jiangnan poem, truly unforgettable. The courtyards and corridors are beautifully laid out, with dark tiled roofs and white walls complemented by lush flora. Every step offers a picturesque view, exuding elegance. Sitting in the courtyard, I felt all the city's hustle and bustle melt away. The guest rooms are clean and refined, with tasteful and comfortable furnishings. The bedding was soft, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep. The staff were polite and attentive, answering all my questions thoroughly, especially when I inquired about local streets and historical sites, showing genuine hospitality. Staying here, I could easily immerse myself in Suzhou's vibrant life right outside, yet return to a tranquil haven. Every brick and tile whispers the charm of Jiangnan, and every interaction reflects their sincere dedication to hospitality. This wonderful accommodation felt like a celestial being gracing the mortal world, with its elegant charm touching my heart. When I return to Suzhou, I will definitely stay here again. Special thanks to Xiao Liu for their excellent service.

eeningHad a really enjoyable stay at Mulan Huayue Hotel during our visit to Zhouzhuang Ancient Town.
The service was exceptional from start to finis. When we arrived, the staff came to pick us up from the admission gate and helped carry our luggage to the hotel, which was especially helpful since the old town streets can be a bit tricky with bags.
We arrived before check-in time, and since the rooms were ready, the owner let us look at the available rooms and choose the one we preferred based on the view. It was a small gesture, but it made us feel very welcome.
The location is also excellent. Since the hotel is located inside the ancient town itself, we could simply step outside and start exploring the canals, bridges, and old streets without needing any additional transport. It was especially nice to wander around early in the morning and at night when there were fewer crowds.
The hotel also has two super cute cats that were always hanging around and made the place feel even more homely.
We tried the hotel's restaurant and were impressed by the food. Our favorite dish was the 酸菜肉丝炒芦苇根, which was delicious and something we hadn't tried before. The food was slightly on the salty side for our taste, but overall we enjoyed everything we ordered.
When it was time to head to our next hotel in Suzhou, the owner helped arrange a car for us (150 RMB). The driver was very knowledgeable and shared lots of interesting information along the way, which made the journey much more enjoyable.
Another thing I appreciated was how attentive the owner was. When we ran out of drinking water, she personally brought three more bottles to our room without us having to ask multiple times.
Overall, this was one of those places where you can really feel the warmth and hospitality of the owner. It made our stay in Zhouzhuang much more memorable, and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Anastasiia KraskovskaiaPerfect location, lovely hosts, beautiful room with vintage furniture and super soft blanket! Very authentic. During the day time it’s super loud because of the amount of tourists, but staying in this place gives you unique opportunity to explain the town in the very early morning or very late evening (the lights switch off at 23:00).
The room can seem small, but it’s old town, it can’t be different:)
Unfortunately there was no tea provided, that’s sad for tea-famous country, maybe should be improved. Other than that – my stay was amazing☺️

Our stay at this Suzhou apartment was nothing short of perfect! As first-time visitors, we were blown away by the incredible value. The location is great, just a quick 5-minute walk from the MRT, which made exploring the entire city effortless.
The apartment itself was exactly as described: spotlessly clean, surprisingly spacious, and equipped with everything we needed. The highlight for us was the big projector screen; winding down each night with Chinese dramas was a unique and fun experience. Having a washer and dryer in the unit was also a huge convenience, allowing us to pack light.
The true standout was our host. She was exceptionally helpful, providing a personal recommendations. Their tips truly made our trip special.
We felt so at home and will 100% be recommending this gem to all our friends. Don’t hesitate—book this place for a seamless and memorable Suzhou adventure

Nio!
Our stay here was a delightful surprise! Even before we arrived, the owner proactively sent us directions to the parking lot. Once we parked, they even sent a car to pick us up and take us to the hotel.
The room was even cleaner than I expected. From the room's decor to the courtyard landscape, you could tell the owner put a lot of thought and effort into every detail. The room had a warm, thoughtful touch everywhere: cute cloud pillows on the bedside, and the bedding was incredibly soft and comfortable, ensuring a sound night's sleep. The floor-to-ceiling window featured a raised seating area, and with sunlight filtering through the sheer curtains, it was perfect for playing with the kids or just quietly daydreaming. The air conditioning in the room was excellent, the bathroom had a separate wet and dry area, and the hairdryer was powerful – little details that really add to the experience.
The common areas were also very inviting. The small lounge on the first floor had books, tea, and an incredibly well-behaved Shiba Inu. The outdoor courtyard was a hidden gem – surrounded by lush greenery, with banana leaves unfurling, and a misty ambiance that made it feel like a secret garden in Jiangnan. Green vines draped gracefully over the wooden deck, and after the rain, the air was exceptionally fresh, instantly washing away all fatigue.
This guesthouse is truly worth a visit. It was the most comfortable stay I've had in an ancient town. When we left, the owner even drove us back to the parking lot, which was very thoughtful. For anyone visiting Zhouzhuang, I highly recommend choosing this place; you won't be disappointed. We'll definitely stay here again on our next visit!

The door lock of the original room was a bit problematic, and the boss directly changed us to a more spacious one. Since it is an ancient building renovation, the facilities will be relatively old.
The location is super good, just turn a corner to Dongguan Street Food Street, parking in Dongguan Street ground parking lot is very convenient!
The service is also super good, the price of 200+ is free hot springs, drink coupons, and Hanfu photo experience. Not only is pet-friendly and free cleaning fee, but also free medical examination for pets is provided. But because of the conflict of time schedule, we finally experienced hot springs. Since the hot spring is experienced in another homestay (more than 600 meters away), the boss also borrowed the battery car from us, which was too touching. All in all, it is a great value experience.
