This was my second stay at Jianguo Hotel Yungang, and it was quite satisfying. The front desk saw my room preferences (non-smoking, quiet) and provided a room that met my expectations, which was great! The breakfast selection was as plentiful as ever. This time, there were a lot of guests, so they opened up several additional dining areas. Even with more people getting food, the supply was very timely. The late-night congee service was also a thoughtful touch; Xiao Zhang and Xiao Hu, who were in charge, were diligent and quick, refilling items promptly. When they had a free moment, they even chatted with guests, which felt very warm and welcoming. On the last day, before checking out, I noticed they were paving asphalt and filling potholes outside the entrance. This was tough for the several couples getting married that day – it was hard for cars to get in, and the newlyweds had to get out of their cars and enter the hotel while enduring the black smoke from the asphalt. I hope the hotel can consider local customs and feelings, and schedule such construction for a different time. Before I left, I noticed a super-sized croissant on the in-room dining menu, which piqued my interest. It looked like sliced hua mo (steamed flower bun). I'll have to see the real thing next time, haha!

Our group of four went to the Shanxi First Hot Spring Hotel, thinking it would be conveniently located within the Wang Family Courtyard. We ended up loving it! The hotel environment was superb! 👍🏻 Getting up early to climb the city wall and see the swirling mist was like stepping into a fairyland. The air was fresh, the hot spring water smooth, and the night view even more beautiful! Dinner was delicious, and breakfast was plentiful! Everyone is planning to come back! The manager, Xiao Wang, and my husband hit it off immediately, and he even gave us souvenir coins!

Its main advantage is its excellent location; it's very convenient for exploring, and you can easily pop back for a rest when you get tired. **Service:** The staff were very service-oriented. When we arrived, there weren't many guests, and the service was very attentive. **Breakfast:** It's not a buffet; it's a fixed-menu breakfast, like a 'nine-grid' style. It looks very appealing, and the taste is decent enough to fill you up. Overall, it's a good stay. Naturally, for this price point within the ancient city, you shouldn't compare it to hotels of the same price outside. It's incomparable, primarily due to its superb geographical advantage.

Huayan Temple, Shanhua Temple, and the ancient city wall are all within walking distance. It's a great choice if you're traveling with elderly family members or children, as you can easily return to rest whenever you get tired from sightseeing. The service is also very good, from the guest rooms to the restaurant staff. The downside is that the hotel is quite old, and the facilities are a bit dated, though they do have all the essentials. During this season, the rooms can get a bit stuffy and dry. Our room had a screen door for ventilation, but not all rooms have one. Overall, I'd recommend this hotel for first-time visitors to Datong.

The room card gives access to a small gate leading to Yingze Lake Park. It's a nice two to three-kilometer loop for a leisurely stroll. Service: Excellent. They offered complimentary welcome fruits, and you just scan a QR code to request more amenities. There's also a delivery robot that brings food right to your door, all very convenient. Suggestion: I hope they can switch from instant Nestlé coffee to pour-over coffee bags. Instant coffee feels too low-end and doesn't match the hotel's overall quality.

I chose this hotel for a family trip, and despite it being newly opened and me worrying about lingering smells, it turned out to be an amazing value! The room was very comfortable and well-ventilated, with no unpleasant renovation odors. The staff mentioned that the main construction was completed in the first half of last year. The lobby facilities were very family-friendly, and the kids' play area was huge, even featuring children's books that my kids loved. While they played, I could enjoy a coffee and some snacks, which really helped us all relax and unwind during our trip. The bed was super comfortable, and the bathroom had a small spray nozzle, which was incredibly convenient for bathing the kids. Highly recommend!

After making a phone call, a little brother picked me up at the entrance of the lobby in a battery car and pulled me from Building No. 9 to near the staff dormitory. He took me to a canteen owned by the staff and bought the snacks and ice cream that the children wanted. , ice water. The little brother was polite all the way, helped me with things, and proudly explained to me the history and scenery of the State Guesthouse, as well as the attractions around Jinci Temple that are worth visiting. It was past 10 o'clock in the evening, and I wanted to buy some snacks to enjoy this kind of VIP service. I have stayed in so many hotels and never enjoyed this one before.
