The hotel is decorated in the ancient Chinese style. The location is very good and on one main street.
The rooms are very pretty and also decorated in ancient style but also feel new and very clean.
the staff is very friendly. And the provided gifts are great 😃 breakfast is also tasty.
I would come again.
This is a great hotel, and most importantly, it's right across from the airport, perfect for a layover. We happened to arrive during the rain, and the hotel was very accommodating, arranging both airport pick-up and drop-off. If you were to walk, it's not far at all, about ten minutes. However, if you have a lot of luggage, walking might be a bit inconvenient. The hotel's hygiene is good, and the breakfast is also quite nice (the Yuncheng Braised Chicken was delicious). If you have an early flight, you can eat ten minutes earlier and still make it on time. Note: Due to the rain, I didn't get any photos showing the hotel's proximity to the airport.

The location is absolutely fantastic, very close to the city center. When we checked in, they upgraded our room for free, and the owner even helped us with our luggage. When we left, they gave us some handmade vinegar from their shop, and also free outfits and discount vouchers for popular restaurants. It was absolutely wonderful! Since I have relatives in Pingyao, I'll definitely bring them to stay here next time.

Stepping into Datong Ancient City in the afternoon, the first pleasant surprise was stumbling upon Renyi Inn.
The inn's antique courtyard, adorned with carved beams and painted rafters, and warm red lanterns, instantly brought a sense of calm. The family who runs the inn is incredibly humble and kind, their conversations warm and thoughtful, making you feel right at home. What's even more admirable is their exceptional care for animals; the inn is like a mini-zoo. They treat every little creature with gentleness and patience, which in turn fills the entire courtyard with life and spirit.
Upon entering, a majestic grey parrot, both poised and lively, greeted me from the front desk – I'd never seen such a large pet parrot before! Two smaller parrots chirped happily nearby, completely unafraid of strangers, lively and adorable. Outside my room was a small courtyard with two tea tables. After a 'special forces'-style day of temple hopping, when I was tired to the point of tears, sitting there enjoying a cup of tea was incredibly relaxing. In the adjacent fish pond, a dozen or so vibrant koi, each weighing at least two to three pounds, swam gracefully, their bodies stretching elegantly. Next to the pond, a large and a small tortoise slowly ambled, quiet and therapeutic. In a corner cage, a tiny grey squirrel darted around, agile and playful.
As dusk fell, watching the lights reflect on the pond and listening to the soft sounds of the small animals, the weariness of travel seemed to melt away in this gentle atmosphere, leaving my heart filled with peace and healing.
I thought this wonderful experience was complete, but to my surprise, a new delight awaited me the next morning – two peacocks, 'Wenqing' (blue and white) and 'Xiaofeng' (emerald green), strolled leisurely in the courtyard with their magnificent tails fanned out – yes, they even have names! The eye-spots on their tail feathers shimmered, as if they were wearing the entire starry sky, beautiful like something straight out of an ancient painting. For a moment, I couldn't tell if I was in an inn or a secret wonderland.
Renyi Inn is far more than just a place to stay; it's a hidden gem within the ancient city. The harmonious coexistence of people and animals creates a warm and healing atmosphere, adding countless gentle and delightful moments to this journey.

The location is great, near Liuxiang, with plenty of food options and easy access to transportation. On the second day, housekeeping left a note saying they wiped down our luggage.
However, on check-in day, the room temperature was around 26 degrees Celsius, and the air circulation was poor. I'd subtly sweat even when doing nothing, though I initially dismissed it as me not being used to the 10-degree outdoor temperature. The next day, after returning from sightseeing, I found the AC on cool, yet the room was still at 27 degrees. The in-room phone to the front desk didn't work, so I used my mobile to call and ask if the high temperature could be adjusted. The front desk replied that the AC system had been broken for the past couple of days and said they'd check if housekeeping had a fan. About half an hour later, a man, not in uniform, knocked and said the hotel had no fans and the AC system was broken, with no solution available. It was already past 11 PM, so I didn't want to engage in a fruitless conversation and let him go. Later, past midnight, I noticed bloodstains on the pillowcase. I felt it wasn't worth bothering with, so I just set the pillow aside and didn't report it to the front desk.

A rather mediocre experience. I've been a Ctrip member for 15 years and rarely leave bad reviews, so I'll give this a passing grade of 3.0. The main reasons for the average experience were: 1. My baby had a fever in the middle of the night and couldn't get up the next day. I wanted to take some breakfast back to the room, but they wouldn't allow it, and the staff's attitude was quite stiff. At over 1700 RMB for two nights for three adults and one child, the price wasn't cheap. Since the hotel couldn't be understanding towards me, I can't be understanding towards them in my rating. 2. There must be floor heating or central air conditioning, because the room was extremely dry, even drier than indoors in Beijing during the heating season.

The location is great! Downstairs is a residential area with all sorts of food options, plus there's a street market nearby where you can buy groceries.
The hotel has an underground garage with free parking and even charging stations. So, if you're traveling with an electric car, no need to worry about charging – it's super convenient.
It's a non-smoking hotel, which is fantastic for non-smokers like me. You don't have to worry about lingering smoke smells from previous guests.
I was in such a hurry when I left that I didn't get a chance to take any photos for everyone's reference. But if I ever come back to Datong, I'd definitely choose this place again!

Overall: The hotel quality is very good. It's a newly opened hotel and quite smart! Very satisfied overall! Breakfast: Simple home-style meals, which my parents and children were very happy with! Room: The double-sized room was spacious, and the shower water was hot and had great pressure!

A very good home stay/hotel that I highly recommend for anyone who travel to Datong. It’s at the entrance of the Datong Ancient City, very convenient to walk around for shops and restaurants. The hotel staffs and owner are very friendly to accommodate our needs. Lift is available and good for family with elderly. The pick up and drop off service to stations are the best!
There are some problems on the bed sizes when we checked in but the owner resolve in a friendly way. Highly recommended for a special stay!
The basic requirements are met, and the room is quite spacious. There are automatic curtains. Cleaning is done daily. However, I think the comforter is too heavy and oppressive; I would have preferred a thinner one for summer. This one feels like a winter comforter.

GGuest UserThe staff was friendly and accommodating. The property is lovely. They have all the amenities you would need. Understand, these amenities are not complimentary here. Everything has a fee but they are available. When we arrived they offered a city pass for the wall and temples. It was 125 yuan per person. I said no because I wanted to just hit a few select sights but later learned that's not how it works there. The whole ancient City runs that way so either buy the pass or you can't walk the wall or enter the historical sights.

GGuest UserThis guesthouse boasts an excellent location, right in the heart of the ancient city. Guandi Temple's entrance is literally on your doorstep, and during the Spring Festival, performances are held on its east side. This makes exploring and dining out incredibly convenient. The independent courtyard offers a beautiful and tranquil environment, complemented by attentive and warm service. With breakfast included, I highly recommend this place for your stay.

GGuest UserThis guesthouse was a wonderful surprise! It's located right inside Pingyao Ancient City, close to the East Gate, and also near the City God Temple and Confucius Temple. Since cars are banned inside the ancient city, it's very convenient to catch a taxi just outside. The guesthouse itself is tucked away in a narrow alley, giving it a real 'deep courtyard' feel. Once you step inside, it's a whole different world – a truly exquisite and elegant courtyard. Looking up from the open-air patio, you see the bright moon at night and blue skies with white clouds during the day. The owner is incredibly kind and welcoming. They provided transportation tips in advance, gave us a free paper map of the ancient city, and even recommended key sights, routes, and local specialty dishes and restaurants.

GGuest UserA very unique courtyard B&B inn. The rooms are clean, tidy and antique. The inn is located on the West Street of the Old City. It is right on the pedestrian street. It is very close to the Rishengchang Bank and the county government. The boss is very enthusiastic and the service is very good. I will give you a tip in advance. We sent location navigation and helped us pick up and drop off our luggage from the parking lot 🅿️. They introduced the ancient city travel suggestions in detail and arranged an ancient city guide for us to have an in-depth understanding of Pingyao’s historical and cultural heritage. It was great [strong][strong ] [Strong] When checking out, the boss also gave me a souvenir from the ancient city - aged vinegar, which is very nice and worth recommending [Strong] [Strong] [Strong]

The owner was very friendly and welcoming. They kindly picked us up at the railway station and helped us arrange a car rental to visit Xuankong Temple, Yingxian Wooden Pagoda, and the Yungang Grottoes.
The breakfast was also delicious and a great way to start the day.
Their hospitality and assistance made our trip much easier and more enjoyable.

GGuest UserI can’t stop raving about this inn. It is a B&B style three stories tall inn located inside the Datong Ancient City. Complimentary shuttle service between the airport or railway station made it really convenient for out of town travelers. The guest room was clean and equipped with modern facilities like automatic toilets, coded entry, projection screens, etc. The inn is located near the north gate of the city amongst other accommodations. Within minutes of walking is access to the top of the city wall where bike rental is available to ride along the wall. The inn is very quiet at night. The inn is family operated and everyone was very hospitable. What sets this inn apart from other accommodations in the area is their dedication to service. The owner knew I was a tourist and new to the area, she offered to pick me up if I got lost wandering the ancient city. The breakfast came with my reservation. When the owner found out I had to depart before breakfast serving hours, she went above and beyond to prepare food and served me 30 minutes ahead of schedule. The food tasted amazing and came with abundant varieties and huge portions. It was definitely not part of the service to drop off at another venue, but the owner took me to my next accommodation 2km away. I truly appreciate everything this inn and its staff has done for me. I am so glad to have chosen to stay this beautiful little inn on my first night in Datong. I will definitely stay here again without a doubt on my next visit.

GGuest UserThe location of the hotel is perfect. It is the right place to stay when visiting the Hanging Temple and Jin Temple. The room and bed are large, especially suitable for bringing children. It is no problem for a family of three to stay in a big bed. The bathroom is separated into dry and wet areas. The breakfast is also very good. Overall, it is very cost-effective.
GGuest UserThis guesthouse is located right inside Pingyao Ancient City, making it incredibly convenient for exploring the city's attractions and enjoying local cuisine. We arrived at Pingyao Ancient City Station by high-speed train, and the guesthouse offered a pickup service from there, which saved us a lot of hassle. The room was clean and tidy, with underfloor heating throughout, as well as an air conditioner. You could walk around barefoot without getting cold. The bed was a large, comfortable 'kang' bed, a local specialty. The building itself is over 300 years old and a protected heritage site, so staying here offers a unique experience and a connection to historical relics. The guesthouse owner was very approachable and friendly. They enthusiastically introduced us to the city's sights, helped us plan our itinerary, and gave us many helpful tips. They also warned us about certain people to avoid in the city – it's always reassuring to have local insights when traveling. We were truly grateful! The recommended dining spots were also affordable and delicious. We look forward to visiting again!

AAnonymous UserLocated near to Taiyuan town bus station. Can walk to the hotel from bus station, or if u tired of walking, can take the public bus from 普化寺 stop to 友谊路口 stop. (FOC, all public bus in Taiyuan Town does not need to pay bus fare). Only one bus stop to the hotel.
Very good location. Walking distance to the centre of Taiyuan Town temples. Cos, public buses sometimes are packed, Can choose walking if not tired. Traffic jam in the morning too.
Outside hotel is shopping street of the town. Hotel are near to 3 vegetarian restaurants. Can buy flowers baskets and fruits baskets from the shopping street flower n fruits stores if u wanna offering to Buddha. Flowers baskets are huge, price from RMB80. Fruits baskets RMB100. If buy from store outside temples, price might be more than shopping street price.
The hotel boss and staffs are very friendly and helpful. Always distributing bottles drinks to us when we leaving hotel.
Helped us book van to wutaishan mountain 5 terraces. And helped us book car for our one day trip out of the central, to the temples which are not so accessible by public buses (清凉寺,金阁寺, 竹林寺 and etc). Car booking half day trip is RMB300, full day RMB500. Recommended to book car, less walking up slope, driver can park car straight to temples car park.
Thumb up for the hotel services! Thank you! We have a great and memorable trip.
