XISHU GARDEN INN
4.8/5226 Reviews
Wenshu Monastery/Longhu Shangcheng Sky Street
Coming here again in the spring, this inn remains the highlight of my trip. Imagine having had a rough trip: the cold, intense population density, and tough business meetings. Weary, you get off a late flight with sore legs. You trudge over to the inn, turning the final corner into its warm lights, past the usual check-in time. You have no idea how things could go; some hotel receptions can be rather unpleasant. Your first brush with Xishu is its simple double glass doors, and the sight of a giant panda statue. You totter past it gingerly, unsure if anyone is awake at such a late hour. Ah. But someone is. A youthful girl smiles gently at you over the counter, ”Hello. Check in?” You smile awkwardly, unsure, ”Yes, I know it's late...” ”No,” She responds softly, ”It's ok. Could I get your passport?” There wasn't a fuss. She smiles and gets to work quietly, clicking away. You set your luggage down and look around. Behind you, you notice the little courtyard, a cultural icon of traditional chinese architecture. A small fountain sputters, fairy lights are strung above for the spring festival, casting a surreal ambience over everything. Wind chimes jingle faintly. You draw a breath at it all. Small tables and chairs are laid out, welcoming you. ”Your room key,” You turn around to see the youthful girl at the counter smiling gently with a keycard. She briefs you in the same calming tone; wifi, breakfast, washing machines, and even a map of attractions all planned out. You thank her, reminded of your travel fatigue, and head on up. Your footsteps are dampened by carpet, going in hallways of soothing chinese wooden interior designs. The inn is quiet at this hour, unlike the large hotels that have kids or travel groups. You tap your keycard to get in your room... And a small welcome basket awaits you. Apples and oranges, sweets, tiny little spicy sichuan snacks. The aesthetic of the room remains faithful to the inn, throwing you back down the memory lane... to Japanese ryokans, to Bali's traditional guest villas, or to vacation cottages in Europe. But something is a little different. Instead of stripping technology and modern convenience, this inn has woven it into its design. Air conditioning has been set for you. Smart toilet seats detect your presence and keep itself clean. Shower buttons are easy to understand, with a single easily controllable hot water lever. Even the mirror at the bathroom sink detects your presence and lights up, with a heating coil that prevents it from fogging on mornings. You wash up. Sleep. The next day, you wake for breakfast, barely after the sun had broken the steel gray of dawn, now you witness the inn's courtyard in the day. Nobody is seated outside yet in such low temperatures, but you take a moment to look around and just soak in the ambience. Uninterrupted. When you finally turn towards reception, you notice a pair youthful girls at the counter. Both quietly smiling and unassuming. Calming, instead of the forced professionalism at other hotels. There's something real here. A sincerity. A genuine kindness that permeates, perhaps from proximity to the monastery? Perhaps the unique historic district? Perhaps the owner and managers made it this way. The girls check your breakfast options again, in case you might have changed your mind. You totter into the resturant, barely awake, but a fresh cup of nespresso hits you quickly, a familiar aroma from home in a land 12,000km away from home. And then fruits. Milk. Toast bread. Butter! Sichuan noodles in the morning. Exotic dumplings. Eggs sunny side up. By the time breakfast is done, you know you will be returning here again. And again. I have. I've made friends with the hotel staff. I hope you will too. And if you love the people and place as much as I do, I hope you, too, will give it your best shot. If you've read this far, I hope we meet in this distant land. Some day.

I arrived at homestay 闲时依旧 from 毕棚沟at around 8.40pm . We were looking for the entrance and was there it was second floor and we had 4 heavy luggages 2 large and 2 small. we didn't know there are 2 ways to get to the homestay 1.climb the ladder and 3 .elevator behind . anyway ,we climbed the stairs🤭 Once we reach the Aunty was there she was smiling and not a lot of Thai stayed here . The homestay has no elevator inside so you need to climb the ladder to your room which might be on second floor . I was about to carry my heavy luggages one by one but Aunty suddenly took the heavy luggage for me and I told here no it is too heavy for lady but she insisted and carried it to the front door of my room. she is so hospitable .She don't need to carry my bag it is too heavy for lady! I was at the same time ashamed and also impressed with how much she wanted to help. I was grateful for that .Upone entering the room .It was cozy ,cute and we have a balcony which we used to have breakfast with view of the old town . I really like this place . Moreover, I was super impressed with the room facilities. It is my first time in my life to see a homestay or hotel using CELLULOSE DISPOSABLE TOWEL . WHY I CARED SO MUCH ABOUT IT? BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN WORKING IN FABRIC INDUS7FOR MORE THAN 20 YEARS !!! AND CELLULOSE FIBER HAVE ALWAYS BEEN THE INNOVATION THE INDUSTRY HAVE BEEN TRYING TO LAUNCH IT TO THE MARKET . I CAN TELL YOU ,THIS IS NOT CHEAP AND IT IS RECYCLABLE . THE HOMESTAY TOOK ME BY SURPRISED AND THAT IS SOMETHING I WANTED TO SAY ,YOU ARE BEYONG INNOVATION AND YOU HAVE COME TO THE POINT FEW PEOPLE ARE WILLING TO INVEST . IN ADDITION, THE WATER THAT HOMESTAY OFFERED US IN ROOM THERE IS 1.5 LITRE AND 2 0.5 LITRE AND IT IS PETRIFIED WATER .WHICH IS MORE EXPENSIVE THAN WHAT WE USUALLY SEE .I have been travelling and staying thousands of hotel even 5-6 stars no places offered such expensive water!!!! Wow Wow Wow ....I can't be more impressed. The owner bring us breakfast right on time that we informed her and breakfast was very very clean and healthy .Red potato ,milk buns. it was super !!! We have a great night sleep souch that we got up a little late .So we rushed out to Panda Selfie and the spots we planned . we asked the Aunty owner for information how to go and she was very vigilant and happy to tell us she even walked out to point us the way . I cannot say how perfect our stay was bed was soft ,clean pillow is perfectly supportive . Amenities are not those cheap amenities ,all usable and have a price . Soup is good ( normally I don't use any soup if it is not my own). The hot tap shower have digital heat and cool control with Celsius Digital you can turn 33 ,34 35, ,23 ,24 ,25 Celsius accurately. All these are something meticulously thoughtful .And invested for the pleasure of the visitors. Since we love the stay so much and we love the city. we decided to stay 1 more night in Dujiangyan .Also because we love 青城山 ,but when we visited there it was already 3pm too late to enter and enjoy the nature . so we WeChat to aunty and told here we will stay 1 more night .And she upgraded for us to bigeer room with 2 beds very spacious .with the same price because the room type we booked was full. You see how good she is ,the next night we stayed in spacious room with very clean beds as usual. All I can say if I can give full star of 10 I wanted to give Aunty 100 of 10 , homestay 100/10 Breakfast 100/10 and The homestay location is right in front of selfie Panda 100/10 I love everything about this place . I have a plan to revisit in May 1 st 2025 DEFITELY ND TAHNK YOU AUNTY FOR FULFILLING OUR TRIP SO FLAWLESSLY I will definitely stay here again

Chengdu Happy Valley andSouthwest Jiaotong University
Went in the off-season, the price is reasonable. The room is also large, just right for two people. The hotel also has a free laundry room with laundry detergent. The front desk service is also very thoughtful, helping to turn on the air conditioner in advance. Every morning, they will ask on WeChat if you want to clean the room. The front desk service is very good and thoughtful. The location is also very good, just a three-minute walk to the subway station, and the supermarket nearby is also very convenient. The bar is very good at night, you can have a drink and go back to the room directly after drinking, which is very convenient.

Honestly, I loved the stay here. The elevators can be a little tight if you do have large luggage but that wasn’t really an issue for us. It was convenient to get around and room was very clean! Hotel kept our luggage for us until midnight since we had a late flight.
NICESOE HOTEL

Wenshu Monastery/Longhu Shangcheng Sky Street
In the heart of Chengdu's vibrant cultural landscape, nestled mere steps away from the revered Wenshu Monastery, stands the unassuming yet conveniently situated hotel that has become the subject of my recent sojourn. While the property's proximity to one of the city's premier tourist destinations is undoubtedly a boon, the mere 10-minute stroll from the nearest metro station is somewhat offset by the arduous 1.5-hour commute from the Tianfu Airport. However, this minor inconvenience is more than compensated for by the hotel's close proximity to a veritable cornucopia of local eateries, each offering a tantalizing array of regional delicacies. Furthermore, the establishment's fundamental standards of cleanliness and tidiness, coupled with its remarkably affordable pricing, render it a tempting proposition for the discerning traveler. Regrettably, the hotel's secluded location may give rise to certain reservations, particularly for female guests, who may find the sense of isolation somewhat unsettling. The complete absence of cold water, a fundamental amenity, is a glaring oversight that can only be described as utterly deplorable and potentially hazardous. Adding to the compound's woes is the curious configuration of the floor upon which I have been granted lodging, which appears to be a curious amalgamation of guest quarters and staff dormitories, lending an air of awkwardness to the proceedings. Finally, the presence of a tea set devoid of its essential component – the tea leaves – is a peculiarity that, while not entirely crippling, nonetheless serves to underscore the minor oversights that have crept into the hotel's otherwise commendable service. In conclusion, while the Wenshu Monastery hotel presents a compelling proposition for the budget-conscious traveler seeking convenient access to Chengdu's cultural treasures, the shortcomings outlined above cannot be overlooked, and prospective guests would do well to weigh the pros and cons with due diligence before committing to their stay.

Chengdu East Railway Station/Tazishan Park
Great location, 7-8 min walk to Chengdu East Station and Metro station, 15 min appr metro ride to Chunxi Street. Room and bathroom are small and compact but absolutely ok and very clean, toiletries are provided. Do not expect a luxury room, it is more of a business type room, still great though, it has everything you need for a travel stay. Got a high-floor rooms with great view. Staff friendly and helpful, cleaning service available if you need it. For the price, I am pretty happy which the reservation, thank you!
Westcare Hotel (Chengdu South Railway Station)

South Railway Station/Tianfu Cade mall
The hotel is close to the South Railway Station, with a big entrance, clean rooms, and a large room area. It is spacious for children to stay with. The bay window is large and has a cushion, so it is no problem to sleep lying down. The room is very quiet and soundproof, and there is no soundproofing problem as I worried about after reading the reviews. Takeaways can be delivered to the door of the room. The front desk customer service and the room cleaning aunt are very warm and friendly. Because the room type is tight on the day of check-in, the front desk also took the initiative to upgrade the family room. It is very good and worth staying.

Chengdu East Railway Station/Tazishan Park
An excellent hotel. Staffs at the reception counter are friendly and efficient. It immediately put you at ease upon checking in. When I asked for directions for some places of interest, they are more than willing to assist. Location is fantastic just right next to HSR station (Chengdudong Station & Underground Metro Line 2). Once out of station head for East Square and up the escalator immediately take left. Once out of the escalator, the hotel is right in front of you. You just need to cross the road which is on the right side (pedestrian crossing). Also the HSR is convenient for travelling outskirts to Jiuzhaigou (HuangLongjiujia Station) etc. Hotel is clean and is linked to a 5 stars hotel.

Chengdu University of TCM/Kuanzhai Alley nearby area
I was so satisfied with the room. I usually don't write reviews, but this one is really worth the money and very comfortable. As a person with mild mysophobia, the hygiene is perfect, and there is no peculiar smell in the room. I am very sensitive to smells, but there is no strange smell on the sheets and quilts. The mattress is super comfortable and the latex pillow is comfortable. Had a good rest! New towels and ear plugs were also provided, which was very detailed. I also like the decoration style, it beats all seasons. The location is good, there is parking and it is large. There are also delicious hot pot restaurants nearby! Satisfied, will come again!
