Perfectly situated for exploring Plymouth and all it has to offer, restaurants, shops , cinema , cafés, Barbican, the Hoe all within easy walking distance , buses and train station all easily accessible from here . Check in and out easy , staff very friendly and helpful, was travelling with my granddaughter so safety was upmost for me , and we certainly felt safe here . Beds , pillows very comfortable, room very clean no complaints as best nights sleep ever for both of us , very peaceful and quiet rooms , lack of drawer space for 2 ppl for four nights was a pain but not major , room was large and easy to move about in . Due to staff shortages our room couldn't be cleaned ( four night stay ) but we were left a bag of clean towels and refills of sugar/ tea / coffee, a letter of apology was also left explaining the situation, I was find with this as room was fine , out most of the time. Breakfast was adequate, hot , plenty of choice, ran out of few items which was disappointing, didn't get any eggs as quhe so long and all gone by the time it our turn , plus eaten the rest of my Breakfast as would've gone cold, tables not cleared quickly enough, had to ask for cutlery and to wipe the table , again down to staff shortages. Didn't eat breakfast again purely because my granddaughter only ever has toast and jam with a cup of apple juice , while I think £13 is reasonable for the breakfast, I'm not paying the same for 2 slices of toast and jam , no fault of the hotel obviously. We had serious issues with door card never working , think it worked on the last day , but all issues dealt with promptly by staff . All in all very good experience, thought it was very overpriced for what is really just a massive travel lodge , rooms are very similar to the many Premier inns and travel lodges around the country. Saying this I'd definitely stay again if visiting Plymouth.

I work in tourism and consequently I’ve visited the Leonardo, Exeter on numerous occasions this year. The staff at the hotel have always been helpful, pleasant and engaging with my guests and Ready to work with me in order to ensure that people have the best possible experience. On My most recent visit, a guest left their mobile phone at the hotel, Geraldine from reception went way above and beyond to ensure that the mobile phone was sent on to be reunited with the guest as soon as possible, and with no fuss. I am very thankful to her for her assistance. All members of staff that I’ve met at the hotel over the past season are worthy of praise, but, unfortunately, I don’t know the names of many, including the very efficient housekeeping team, however, I’m going to list the names of the following from reception and food and beverage, all have whom have helped me tremendously in recent months: Reception - Carly, Geraldine, Sophia, Chloe, Geraldine F&B - Karen & Lymer My thanks to you all!

Booked this hotel for one night for me and my 2 kids, unfortunately when arrived to the hotel they couldn't see my kids in the system...however kids stay there for free so it was not trouble at all. Hotel is clean, comfortable, quiet and very close to the harbour. Would definitely book it again:) There was a lovely gym at the same floor where our room was.

I was very impressed by this hotel. It has a good location if you travel by car or rail. Even though it overlooks a major road intersection there was no noise in the bedroom. The bed room was quite large and the air conditioning was very effective and quiet. The staff were very friendly, efficient and helpful. It was very clean throughout. The dining area is quite small and there were warnings of some delays in getting a table. I didn’t have any problem when I staid the night after August Bank Holiday.

We stayed for one night in August. The Duke of Cornwall is a historic Victorian building which looks amazing on the outside, it’s a very old hotel so has some querks. There was major external works so scaffolding in place and most of the building was covered in tarpaulin. We booked via a popular ”booking” site for £210 for a family room + our fur baby including breakfast. A Grand staircase leads up to all floors and these are well numbered and easy to find rooms. You can take the lift if you prefer but it is very small and a bit claustrophobic. We were in Room 410 – the room itself was huge, bedroom and bathroom, whilst huge, the room was bit 'tired' but very clean & a modernised bathroom. The bed was VERY comfy and we had a good night’s sleep. Hairdryer supplied in room – handy although it was a typical travel hairdryer so don’t expect too much. The back of the hotel is very different to the front, a bit run-down and in desperate need of sprucing up! Car parking - small car park and situated at the back of the building, with a walkway from the car park leading into the hotel and then down one floor to reception to check in. Bar area = modernised with original features and prices were reasonable. We did request a snack at about 8:30ish and was told to wait as kitchen was still open but no one came to take order - the hotel information stated the restaurant served meals from 7pm until 9:30pm daily so we were a little disappointed that we couldn’t have anything. Breakfast: was served in the bar area as we had taken our fur baby down with us. There was a choice of croissants, cereals, fruit, yoghurt etc. or cooked selection. We opted for bacon, sausage, scrambled egg and mushrooms all ordered from our table and was brought out within 5 minutes – staff were really friendly and attentive. Although the breakfast was fine it seemed expensive for the 3 of us as was £54.00. We had mixed feelings about our stay. The hotel itself is very grand in the public areas but the corridors and rooms need some attention to bring them back up to the grandeur they once were – we would stay again if rooms had an upgrade to match the rest of the hotel.

I was worried given the last half a dozen reviews have not been good but our experience really was very good. We were greeted in a lovely manner by Reception and asked if we would like help with a large box we were carrying. We were put in a room at the end of the corridor away from lift as requested. I'd asked for a quiet room and it was. The bed mattress was on the firmer side but absolutely fine. The room was spotlessly clean. Breakfast was perfectly nice the next morning, yes there was a queue but only a couple of minutes to wait and no food ever ran out. Staff are absolutely lovely. Parking wasn't a problem. £5 per night which you are warned about on website and reminded of at check in. We booked here as opposed to Premier Inn or Travelodge as they give NHS workers with a Blue light card a discount so were cheaper PLUS breakfast included which was a win for me. I would definitely stay again if rates were comparable. No complaints at all. Room 153 btw.

Being used to the likes of other budget hotel chains when on business trips I was looking forward to my stay however feel let down given the prestigious reputation of the Mercure brand. The hotel building itself is beautiful and the room was modern in decor, however unfortunately the building fabric had not been modernised leading to an uncomfortable night. The room was very warm with a single window that only opened slightly and no air conditioning/fan provided. Even on a cold September night the room was uncomfortably warm into the early hours. My room was positioned opposite what seemed to be the kitchen/some sort of generator/heater which kicked in at 6am in the morning waking me up as the window had to remain open to keep the room cool. The range of breakfast was good (cooked breakfast, pastries, cereals, continental), but sadly the quality was quite poor. Despite being the first person at 8am on a Sunday the food was cold overall and the sausages and bacon were very tough and leathery. The staff on every interaction were helpful and polite, especially the receptionist when checking in. Overall a disappointing stay and sadly not the first poor experience at an Accor hotel.

We stayed here 2 nights and were really impressed by this hotel, it really has everything you need, safe, mini-fridge, kettle with tea, coffee, milk and biscuits, hair-dryer, ironing board/iron, bath and shower, nice toiletries, nice towels, lovely big bed, great bed linen, kept at a nice warm temperature, it really is hard to fault this hotel in any way. Breakfast was included and was up in the penthouse with amazing panoramic views of Plymouth, breakfast itself was probably one of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve ever had with a huge choice of hot and cold dishes, including vegetarian options. Most options were self service but there was also a menu of dishes cooked to order such as Eggs Benedict, poached eggs and salmon etc. Hotel itself was a hive of activity in the bar and restaurant on the ground floor but nice and peaceful and quiet up on our floor. One of the lifts was out of action when we were there which caused a bit of congestion and long waits with just the one lift working. Reception was friendly and efficient, we would definitely come here again, the attention to detail and affordable prices make it a really great stay. There are also other facilites here like a pool and sauna however unfortunately we didn’t have the time to use these.

Great customer service was very good. The room was great size with big Queen size beds very comfortable. The carpets could do with being replaced as stained. Only negative was some people near our room were noisy.

Stayed for 12 nights as on a two week training course in Plymouth, nice comfortable room, all amenities available hot and cold drinks (cold kept in room fridge, found the fridge handy to store extra milk!) as not keen on the cartons of milk nice hot shower and bath however shower does take a while to warm up bed and towels changed daily, hotel good location and easy access to all Plymouth attractions within walking distance beware if on foot of the hills! as the hotel is at the top of a hill, good selection at breakfast and nice friendly staff and good to see the hotel manager around the hotel greeting guests at breakfast, also nice to get a complimentary drinks voucher a nice touch too. and a nice fitness suite for guests to use,a few minor issues slight peel on wallpaper in room, warm room had to keep fan on or open window also as light sleeper and at back of hotel could hear students in the student flats opposite and the seagulls flying around all night

What a lovely place. It was old yet modern, rooms were very clean. We had a family room which had a separate-ish room that our children slept in, along with an en-suite bathroom and dressing room. The freshly cooked breakfasts were exceptional, and you can choose what you want. It was a stone's throw from the Hoe and 15 minutes walk along the Hoe to the National Aquarium, which was the reason we visited. The staff were very friendly, the beds were comfortable and it has a licensed bar open until 9pm with a quiet and comfortable drinking area. It was 20 mins walk from the station, I would highly recommend it.

Thought I would say a few words about The Imperial Plymouth. Had a family event at short notice and was looking for a hotel centrally based in Plymouth with parking and good value, well i found it with The imperial Plymouth. I contacted reception and asked about late arrival, Rachel could not have done more, she left a key , took photos and sent instructions how to access my room. The room was in fact a fully self contained unit with cooker kettle microwave etc AND was very clean with all tea coffee provided. I will only ever stay in this hotel when visiting Plymouth. Lovely location, lovely room, I arrived at 2am and woke to late for breakfast, at 10am i hot a knock on the door and received a sausage sandwich the lady Rachel had seen i had missed breakfast and brought me something to eat. Fabulous staff. Fabulous service. An excellent customer service team. And excellent hospitality. Thank you Rachel. Thank you The imperial Hotel. You really did go the extra mile. Boringdon is a very nice hotel but our experience was more 4 than 5 star (except for the dinner which was exceptional in taste, presentation and service). We booked a stable room Mayflower Dining experience package for the final night of our honeymoon. We booked the exact same package two years ago and the room was far smaller this time although the bed was very comfortable and the fresh milk in the fridge was a nice touch. The room itself did look quite tired with marks on the walls and the bathroom in need of a refresh, but it was clean and comfortable (just not what I would call five star). Staff left a card and a mini bottle of gin for us in our room to say congratulations which was lovely of them. The staff were all lovely and always available to help. The dinner was excellent and the beef fillet was the best I have ever eaten (and I've eaten a lot!). Cocktails were delicious too, and the Canadian ice wine suggested to go with the apricot tart for dessert matched very well according to my husband. I myself am gluten free and there were plenty of options for me on the menu. The beef wasn't originally available as a gluten free dish however I requested to see if the chef was able to make it GF which wasn't a problem at all and I'm so glad I did because it was incredible. The kitchen made us some ganache chocolate coins as a celebration of our recent wedding which was so kind. The breakfast unfortunately did not live up to our expectations and was nowhere near as good as it was two years ago. This time we had breakfast upstairs in the Spatisserie. We were seated right next to a very large window with no blind or curtain and the table became unbearably hot (in October!!). We had to leave mid meal because of this. We did ask to move but was told it wasn't possible. Service was incredibly slow because there weren't enough staff. The ones who were there were working hard but they needed an extra pair of hands. I was also sad to see that the two course breakfast has now become a buffet + one menu item. For me, as someone with allergies, I actively avoid hotels with buffets because they are not safe for me. Staff know this because before I even asked if there was an alternative to the buffet they told me I'd have to sign a disclaimer form if I wanted to eat from it (I didn't but they didn't ask that). This made me feel like they don't accommodate allergies at breakfast and I felt a bit like a second class hotel guest. After requesting if there was anything they could do, I was given some Greek yogurt and fruit directly from the kitchen, which was nice. Our toast never arrived and we left 45 minutes after it had been ordered. It's a shame that the breakfast left us feeling as we did because up until then we had enjoyed our stay although we had already discussed how it wasn't quite as good as our previous visit. The spa is lovely but was very busy. We did manage to get a lounger but lots of people didn't, so bear that in mind when visiting. The

A great welcome from the team (all very helpful), a great stay would happily visit again and recommend to friends and family. The rooftop bar well worth a visit, cocktails made bespoke to taste. Breakfast made fresh to order, great selection and really tasty.

We stayed because our husbands were going to the rugby and the girls having a trip into Exeter. Location of the hotel was perfect not a long walk to the train station for us to get into town. On arrival at 12.30 reception was full queues of people trying to check in or leave bags. A man was sent out to take our car registration and names and then we could wait in the bar until they were ready for us. The boys waited in the bar and we headed off. They were checked in before 3 when they had to leave for the rugby which was good but to be honest we knew we were early and would have been happy leaving the luggage. We were told out of the 3 couples we had an upgrade to what turned out to be an accessible room and to be honest it isn’t an upgrade. I would have preferred the room we had booked which certainly wasn’t accessible. One of the other couples was over charged by £70 on check in - which we did sort out on our return. Whilst shopping we checked to see if our mobile key was ready but no we had to go to check in and do that on return to the hotel so they could Id us seems to defeat the object. On arrival back joined a queue again to activate the mobile key. It seems to be the longest slowest check of any hotel I have stayed in. When we finally got to the front we were given a normal key as it might take a while for the mobile one to work. Good job because it took nearly an hour to activate and then when I tried it it wouldn’t work with my phone. We then went to the bar before dinner again it was packed we managed to get a table but only 2 servers so wait for drinks was a little long. Price was ok. We had a table booked in the view for dinner and the food was lovely and reasonably priced. Again restaurant was very busy but the staff were lovely. Couldn’t have water. On the table as the waitress informed us they had run out of jugs, we said we would wait but she said no they had no jugs? She had to keep topping up from a bottle and she wasn’t allowed to leave the bottle on the table. Perhaps a trip to the next door IKEA May have sorted that. The main meal came with various items missing off of each plate, salsa, salad and chips. Overall was nice though. Breakfast was an another matter, we sat in the bar as the restaurant was packed. The design of the restaurant for breakfast is awful. People queueing for hot food past the croissants and bread and toaster so someone is always in the way. The fruit and cold meat and cheeses on the end of the hot line so missed by a lot of people. Only Greek or soya p,Ian yoghurt noth8ng flavoured, ran out of compote and fruit. Had to ask for the orange juice to be topped up. Just very disorganised and badly set out. Now I know it was a busy rugby weekend but the hotel are obviously fully aware of this. The staff were pleasant and the food in the evening lovely, in the morning ok. The room was clean and lovely - definitely not an upgrade though so please don’t make out it was. As usual with my frequent visit to this area I find Woodbury Park hotel has been my preferred place to stay. Staff are lovely kind and helpful. It’s a beautiful hotel satin a very picturesque location surrounded by pleasant scenery. Hotels and rooms are very clean and well attended to. Restaurant services are clean and impeccable. Credit goes to the chefs and the team who managed the service. I have had a pleasant breakfast service during my stay at Woodbury. I hope the staff and the team at Woodbury keep up the good work and encourage us to use them during my future trips to the area.

I reviewed this hotel in December 2011, you can find it in the history. First things first. I am not a nit picking whinge screaming for the manager at the slightest issue. Far from it. But it really pains me to write this due to my stay. I work abroad now and a colleague and me were needed to be in Exeter and from 11 years ago thought of this hotel as ideal. How wrong can I have been and how deteriorated this place has become. Checkin ＞ Ok but staff obviously frustrated about the running around children and the noise, they were clearly embarrassed. 2 were kicking a football around the reception. Some mothers nearby didn't seem to even care. Room ＞ not at all good, worn out carpet, windows didn't open but for about 3 centimetres so it was very warm. Of course the AC was not working and i was told it was being looked into. Also no hangers in the cupboards at all took an hour after asking for some to arrive. Reception / Bar ＞ very odd indeed, 2 same dressed gentlemen always looked you up and down when walking through. You are also on video, they kept talking on their walkitalki devices when they weren't smoking outside!!!!! Look at my pictures, whats going on in this place? Public area / corridors ＞ not nice. Food and glasses left outside rooms 24 hours, some rooms seem to have a drum and bass convention going on. Oh and the smell of those vape things was awful. Maybe thats why we had to evacuate at 0100 in the morning with a fire alarm. I heard the fire guys discussion on it being from someone vaping. Security ＞ For who? OK there was the 2 strange videoing guys in the bar area, but my keycard stopped working 4 times in 7 days. You just go the reception and they say ”ah yes it happens, whats the room number” THAT IS ALL! I had a written note in my room one evening saying sorry to come in to the room but I left my HDMI connector in the room! Parking ＞ now its ridiculously expensive on what used to be included. Utter rip off. Its a ANPR system so beware. What i couldn't understand was that looking out of my widow there were 2 or 3 cars sometimes at night with people sleeping overnight in them. I checked the status on gov. website all no MOT or tax. Whats going on here? Overall a massive disappointment from 11 years ago and feel very sorry for the staff, they know whats going here and it shows in their manner Check out ＞ at last! But then i find 50 pounds of ”laundry” on my room, I asked to be removed. One night was over 200 pounds ”oh its just due to the system” Yeh right. Conclusion ＞ you are being taken for a ride here and I will take this with Accor the parent company. A shabby dirty hotel with a company with 2.2 billion in revenue and 10.7 billion in assets. An utter disgrace. I am requesting a massive / total refund. Thanks again to the staff, its obvious you are trying to make the best of an awful situation. Avoid. Sorry

This was my first visit here after being recommended by work colleagues. The hotel has a strange set out with rooms in different blocks, more like a motel. Unfortunately my room(room 3) had a lot of noise from the adjoining rooms which kept me awake during the night. The food in the restaurant was excellent, no complaints with friendly staff behind the bar. Plenty of parking which seemed secure. Good location right beside the bypass on the way down to Cornwall.

Great location. Rooms a little dated, with minimal housekeeping. Great stay nonetheless and staff were lovely.

Booked this hotel for one night for me and my 2 kids, unfortunately when arrived to the hotel they couldn't see my kids in the system...however kids stay there for free so it was not trouble at all. Hotel is clean, comfortable, quiet and very close to the harbour. Would definitely book it again:) There was a lovely gym at the same floor where our room was.

I am writing this review on behalf of my parents who have just stayed at the Trecarn through Caledonia Travel - and theyve had a fabulous time. Yes the hotel needs a little updating in places but they are getting back on their feet from suffering 2years of covid. For my parents - the staff were excellent and the food was excellent (buffet style for which you could eat has much as you wanted and 4free drinks per person). The evening entertainment was very good and they enjoyed the bingo also. Their Caledonia Drivers were excellent and all the trips were also thoroughly enjoyed. Overall a great holiday

I was fortunate enough to have a sea facing room with a balcony. The views across Torbay were breath taking and may have justified the stay on their own. However when added to the friendliness of the staff and the quality of the food the experience became one of the best UK short breaks (7 nights) I have ever had. The only negatives are perhaps the walk back up the hill after a day in the town and the time spent changing a barrel of beer when they Estrella ran dry! The hill exists and cannot be blamed on the hotel and the views would not be the same without it and there was plenty of other ales available in the bar - so VERY minor issues. I would certainly stay there again .

If there was one thing the hotel lacked its guest information, right across the whole stay we had to keep asking the staff who all looked very busy as it was a weekend stay with a Wedding party booked . On arrival the car park over the road at the railway was full as was the hotel reserved Garage so we found a space driving around at the back of the station so please do not presume its easy finding parking. The reserved spaces in the railway are not part of the hotel so dont use them. We arrived at 1pm hoping to grab a sandwich or lunch but were informed the hotel was catering for a conference so there was no food available until 6pm that evening but they offered us a selection of crisp. Why didnt they email or phone before hand to inform the resident guests there was no food? There were guests arriving asking about Afternoon teas but had to be turned away. The room on the 4th floor was recently decorated and very clean and served us well for a 3 night stay. But again no information in the room about spa/gym/ restaurant etc . Surely a pre printed laminate would be a good addition and might encourage resident guests to book extras. Our final evening we did manage to book into the 1881 Restaurant, dress code is casual and the Roast Topside of beef was awful, chef should not have served that and even the serving staff agreed. The staff though right across the hotel were very good and trying their very best to support the 'Not so Grand Hotel ' .

Everything was superb as it always is here. Staff are brilliant, special thanks to Karolina on reception and Charlize on the bar, not to mention Katie and Owen (Ops manager) Restaurant staff are also brilliant and very helpful. You can enjoy your drinks either in the huge bar area or outside on the lovely terrace overlooking the sea. Food is amazing which again you can eat in the restaurant or the bar area. Breakfast is buffet style and extremely good. My room was a single and everything worked. Spotlessly clean and very comfortable. I write many reviews and I always try to keep them accurate. A score of 10 is very rare from me, I can usually find a niggle somewhere, as in dead I have here before. But, on this occasion a score of 10 is well deserved.

Great hotel, the room was lovely & so was the pool area! We went on the weekend at the start of half term so there was a lot of family’s there & children. I heard the week is better if you don’t want lots of children around but for us this wasn’t an issue. The hotel is very big & there is lots around. It is also in a great location close to the beach, parks & walking distance from the town. We really enjoyed our stay here :)

I have to say after reading some of the previous reviews I was pleasantly surprised by our short stay here. We hadn't planned on going anywhere this year as we're currently renovating our cottage but we all needed a break. Being extremely last minute and the fact there were six of us we didn't have many options, Tor Park had mixed reviews but we figured for the reasonable price we'd risk it. We stayed for two nights in two family rooms, on arrival our sat nav brought us directly to the hotel. Luckily we got a parking space, check in did take a little while but the gentleman dealing with us was friendly and professional. Our rooms were nothing like the photos that are being uploaded by other guests. They were clean, nothing was broken and I'd say in a fair state which is what you'd expect paying the prices they charge. Beds were fairly comfortable, we all slept well. One room was extremely hot but they provided fans. We walked into Torquay on both evenings which was a pleasant walk, if we needed somewhere to stay in Torquay again we would most definitely consider coming back.
