Staying at Shangri-La Shanghai was exactly what a city escape should feel like: luxurious without being fussy, courteous without feeling formal. We were on the 25th floor, and the view of the river was the best part of the day — morning light on the Huangpu, the skyline stretching out, and at night the Pearl Tower glowing just down the road. It’s quiet up there, real tranquility despite being so close to all the tourist attractions. The comfort carried through everywhere: the indoor pool and jacuzzi were perfect for unwinding, the gym had everything we needed, and the grand lobby is lined with high-end stores if you feel like browsing. But the thing we’ll remember most is the afternoons — tea time in the lobby with a live folk music performance drifting through the space. It turns the whole lobby into something calm and beautiful. Courteous staff, comfortable rooms, and a location that puts you right in the heart of Shanghai. We’ll be back.

This time, when I brought my child to Shanghai for a trip, I still chose the Crowne Plaza Shanghai Nanjing Road. After a tiring full day at Disneyland, we arrived at the hotel and were grateful for the room upgrade to a suite. After checking out, we realized we had left a bag behind. A big thank you to staff member #066 who helped us find it and even arranged for it to be couriered home. The service here is absolutely amazing! Thank you very much! ❤️❤️

The 270-degree panoramic room at the Executive Lounge offers breathtaking views, allowing you to see the Oriental Pearl Tower and the winding Huangpu River right from your bed. The experience is fantastic, with both daytime and nighttime views offering unique beauty. All the staff at the Executive Lounge are incredibly friendly and helpful. The Executive Lounge itself boasts a first-class environment, service, and unparalleled views. Eleni, one of the front desk ladies at the Executive Lounge, provided attentive and patient service, and another kind young man enthusiastically helped deliver the room key. Many thanks to both of them. Breakfast on the 56th floor is lavish, and the window seats are delightful, letting you enjoy the scenery while you eat. A perfect holiday experience!

I’m so glad I chose the Mehood Elegant Hotel. It was the perfect location — close to everything, not too crowded, yet not too remote either. I traveled solo with my 14-month-old toddler, and he was absolutely spoiled by all the hotel staff. Everyone treated us with so much kindness and care. Jerry checked us in and out and even gave me a cute fridge magnet. The breakfast was delicious with so many options to choose from, the rooms were cleaned daily, and bottled water was always replenished. Xiao Jun also took great care of us, and Yinhe Juan felt like an auntie to us. We looked forward to seeing them every morning at breakfast. They all made my stay feel so warm and welcoming — truly like a home away from home. I’m incredibly grateful for their hospitality, and if I ever find myself back in Shanghai again, I’ll definitely be booking Mehood. PS: the view from my room was incredible!

Let me start with the cons: The room I stayed in was triangular, which isn't really to Chinese taste. While you can tell the decor uses high-quality materials, it's been over a decade, so the hardware is showing obvious signs of age and isn't very modern. Switches are crooked, and the lights flicker. It's like an experienced beauty; even with efforts to maintain her, her age is still apparent. Aside from the aging hardware, everything else is quite good. The hotel's location is definitely excellent, very convenient, and the surrounding area is lively – it's one of the best spots in Shanghai. As for service, they even gave me a late check-out when I returned late. The restaurant and bar on the first floor have a great atmosphere. Overall, it's quite good. As long as you're not too particular about the newness of the hardware, it's a very good choice for a trip.

This was my first time staying at this hotel, and my overall experience truly exceeded expectations. I initially chose it just for its downtown location, but I was pleasantly surprised by everything from the ambiance to the views. [coffee][coffee][coffee] I stayed in the Bund View Junior Suite, and the most striking impression was the absolutely superb view and stunning night scenery. The bay window in the room was truly the highlight; the view was expansive and unobstructed. Sitting by the window, you could look directly at the Huangpu River and the Oriental Pearl TV Tower. During the day, you could clearly see the scattered city buildings of Lujiazui, creating a fantastic atmosphere. Once night fell and the city lights came on, the entire cityscape was visible – the dazzling river view and the clear city nightscape were all laid out before you. There's no need to specially crowd onto the Bund for sightseeing; you can enjoy Shanghai's top-tier night view right from your bed or the bay window, peaceful and therapeutic. It's also perfect for photos, which instantly made me fall in love with this room. The hotel's location is absolutely unbeatable, a prime downtown spot. There are numerous subway lines nearby, offering excellent connectivity. Whether you're heading to the Bund, Nanjing Road, Yu Garden, or various business districts and attractions, getting around is incredibly convenient, significantly cutting down on travel time. For those visiting Shanghai, this excellent location is a huge plus, making dining, entertainment, shopping, and travel all very easy. The location advantage is truly maximized. During my stay, I noticed that the hotel's facilities were well-suited to travel needs, with great attention to detail. The hotel's smart robot delivery service was incredibly convenient; you could request anything with a single click, and the robot would quickly deliver it to your room, saving time and hassle – a great smart experience. What pleased me most was the hotel's complimentary laundry room and gym, which are truly essential for guests staying away from home. After a tiring journey, you can easily exercise to relax and also wash and dry your clothes promptly. This is very thoughtful and greatly enhanced the comfort and value for money of my stay. Even more commendable was the hotel's service: polite, attentive, and prompt throughout. As soon as I arrived, a concierge staff member proactively approached to help with my luggage. The service was initiative and warm, making me feel very comfortable. The service throughout was not deliberate or perfunctory, striking just the right balance, gentle and thorough, without stiff formalities, conveying a very sincere attitude towards guests. Overall, my first stay experience was perfect. The room environment was clean and comfortable, the night view was top-notch, the location was excellent, transportation was super convenient, smart facilities were comprehensive, the accompanying laundry room and gym were extremely practical, and the staff service was very attentive. It's perfectly suited for couples, friends exploring, or business travelers on short stays. It has silently been added to my go-to list for Shanghai, and I will definitely choose to stay here again next time I visit Shanghai!

This is my second time at Renaissance Yu Garden, and it truly is the best value for money near the Bund. It's a solid international five-star hotel. The rooms are very comfortable, and the staff are all incredibly polite. The breakfast is excellent. Plus, there are cute robots that help with service! 😄😄😄 In a city like Shanghai, where hotels are very expensive, I would definitely choose to stay here again next time. It's mostly international guests here, and Yu Garden is right next door. The metro station is just out front, making it super convenient to get to both the Bund and Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Our first trip to Shanghai with my wife and child was a wonderful experience. The room was clean, spacious, and very comfortable for our family. The breakfast selection was also excellent, with a good variety of choices each morning. What truly made our stay exceptional was Jackie. She provided outstanding service and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and at ease. We were especially grateful for her kindness and support when our child fell ill. Her genuine care, attentiveness, and professionalism made a difficult situation much easier for us. Thank you, Jackie, and the entire team, for the warm hospitality. We highly recommend this hotel and would gladly stay here again.

In a word, the Banyan Tree hotel did not disappoint us. We stayed there for eight consecutive days, enjoying the high-quality service of a luxury hotel every single day. Although we had to wait about 20 minutes to check in, it was because my wife is sensitive to all hair, so they specially treated our room. By the time we opened the door to our room, our luggage was already there. The room design was impeccable, with huge windows offering a perfect view of the boats cruising on the Huangpu River and the Shanghai skyline. Not only was the breakfast abundant, but it was also served for an exceptionally long time, until 12 PM. The restaurant staff were incredibly diligent and responsible. On one occasion, my wife left her sun hat near the hotel restaurant and thought it was lost outside, but they actually found it the next day. Furthermore, the lobby manager and concierge were very responsible; they proactively helped us track every package we ordered online and had delivered to the hotel. Our private butler was also very attentive, always resolving our issues quickly and perfectly, and proactively asking if we needed any further assistance. Many small details like these made us truly love this hotel. Of course, only praising the hotel would seem a bit unrealistic. We feel that the area most in need of improvement is the room's hardware facilities. Some details in the room showed cracks in the flooring, peeling cement and broken bricks on the walls, and the drainage system wasn't perfect. We hope the hotel will undertake renovations and improvements when the opportunity arises. It's understandable for a hotel that's over ten years old; maintaining it to this extent is already quite an achievement.

GGuest UserThe Waldorf Astoria's century-old ambiance is ingrained in its architecture, but the warmth truly comes from our concierges, Aaron and Katrina. During our chat, they meticulously explained the history and signature dishes of various restaurants, offering unique dining tips for everything from the three-tiered afternoon tea at Peacock Alley to the Western cuisine at Pelham's open kitchen, and even the retro long bar at The Long Bar. Their thoughtfulness extended to every small detail, and the farewell gift at check-out felt incredibly ceremonial. This genuine sincerity made our Bund trip truly complete, and we will definitely return.

Uuncle jokerThe service was excellent! I was pleasantly surprised to receive a room upgrade upon arrival. The late checkout until 2 PM was a real lifesaver. This is a huge plus, as Banyan Tree, for instance, was completely inflexible about late checkouts, which is partly why I chose W instead. I hope this late checkout option remains available!

The suite offered a stunning, expansive view directly overlooking the beautiful Bund, creating a fantastic ambiance. During the holiday season, I even received some delightful complimentary treats. The whole experience was absolutely fantastic – truly a benchmark in luxury.

The hotel's location is superb, making getting around a breeze; you can hail a taxi right downstairs. A special shout-out to Jeremy from the Executive Lounge! From check-in to departure, he was attentive and thoughtful throughout. He proactively explained all the lounge benefits, from breakfast and afternoon tea to evening service, arranging everything with meticulous care and warmth. He was quick to respond to any request, demonstrating professionalism and genuine hospitality that made us feel like family. Our experience was perfect, highly recommended!

GGuest UserAlthough it's an older hotel, the facilities are incredibly well-maintained, and it's very clean. The environment is excellent, and the location is super convenient for getting to the Bund and Yu Garden. The lobby has an old-money vibe, full of classic Old Shanghai charm. The main highlight, though, is the exceptional service. My daughter and I had heavy luggage, and the staff at the entrance were incredibly enthusiastic and helped us carry it. While I was waiting to check in and having a drink at the lobby bar, the lobby manager was so warm and patiently answered all my questions about sightseeing and travel. Definitely recommended! I'll be staying here again next time.

From arranging our room based on my pre-arrival inquiries and confirming my arrival time, to securing a high-floor room and upgrading us to a room with a fantastic view, everything was perfect. The room's view and outlook were excellent. Daniel was also incredibly responsive with restaurant recommendations after check-in, arranging parking, and answering any questions we had during our stay. The attention to detail in their service truly shows how well-managed the hotel is. I'll definitely choose Andaz again next time, and a big shout-out to Daniel for his amazing service! 👍

@@wongsyWalking into the hotel, it felt like someone had brought us back to old Shanghai with its building but walking in - a twist with the modern clean look furniture. It was an indeed a welcome sight for us. We upgraded to a room with the Bund view and was not disappointed. Will you just look at the view from my photos!!! It was amazing winding down to the bund’s view and waking up to the Bund. (and the morning pics were taken at 530 before full sunrise). Staff are extremely polite, helping me with my deliveries and even bringing it up for me! Ross was a fantastic help on the last day, with our luggages. Breakfast on the second floor was amazing! Breakfast options was plentiful - and the truffle scramble eggs, butter mochi, wanton soups were all a great surprise! Oh yes, the wines and flower teas were a huge plus!! Just when we thought that it couldn’t get any better - we were informed of this complimentary family photo taking opportunity (complimentary makeup, clothing and 3 photos free) at a nearby photography shop. A new privilege for hotel guests. Off we went to the 8th floor at the nearby hotel - Blossom House. Xinrui photography was lovely. Makeup artist got me up and running in less than 30mins, and the whole photography process took less than 90mins… photos turned out wonderful and we bought extras since we couldn’t choose. And we left with good time to spare, to the airport. We would definitely come back to this hotel again! And thank you to everyone who made our stay such a pleasure!
